Not done: See WP:TOOSOON and WP:HAMMER. The source provides no indication of album name, track listing, or release date. An article on an album with information in such a state would not be likely to survive a deletion request and also does not require listing until then. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 22:13, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand. There's dozens of lines in the TBA table that have way less information... Like just the band name. Knowing a band will release an album is already interesting, if you ask me. ToopeeFr (talk) 12:44, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
To me, the 10 pounds hammer is not applicable here: the purpose of this page is to preview incoming albums, not add a page for the album. ToopeeFr (talk) 12:47, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
ToopeeFr, you are correct to a certain extent. I don't think that WP:HAMMER applies to this list, but WP:TOOSOON does apply. First, to go back to one of your statements, this list is not just to preview incoming albums, but eventually to provide a historical list of albums released by day of the year. Next, the criteria that are important is that the album must be notable, and the album must be released in 2018. We could not care less if the album name is initially known, but we do need to know that eventually. Track list is so unimportant to this list that it is not a category of the tables. That is important to the album article but not this list.
What we review for in a citation is that the album is listed as being released in the year of the list. If a citation says that a band is working on a new album, that is insufficient. Some artists and bands work on albums for years, such as Street King Immortal by 50 Cent. A citation must say the album is being released in the appropriate year for the list. For the List of 2018 albums, that means the article must say the album is being released in 2018, or for articles published this year, must say being released later this year, or in the fall of this year, or so on. Next, the album must be notable. Citing a record label, a band website, a social-funding site like PledgeMusic or BandCamp, or AllMusic or Discogs, is insufficient to show notability. As the WP:TOOSOON article says, the citation must be an independent secondary reliable sources. WP:ALBUM/SOURCE provides a list of reputable news sources, and some sources to not use or to use cautiously. Every album listed in the TBA table that does not have an album title listed was still shown to be released in 2018, and a citation from a reputable news source showed that expected album is notable. Mburrell (talk) 01:31, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the detailed explanations MBurrell My bad, I thought I mentioned the link to the expected release date, which is indeed in 2018: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/stone-sour-announces-north-american-co-headlining-tour-with-halestorm-blabbermouth-net-presale-available/ I think all the criteria you mentioned are fulfilled Now it's all up to you to decide ToopeeFr (talk) 04:14, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thank you for your patience, and for understanding the issues that we need to consider. I entered Halestorm onto the list. I used a different article than you suggested, as I looked for an article whose primary focus was the Halestorm album, which provided the proof of notability and also the evidence of a 2018 release, all in one citation. The label the record is under is Atlantic Records. On this page, the Shinedown album is currently entitled "N/A" and is under the April releases. It also does not have a record label attached to it.

Likewise, the new Godsmack album has been confirmed to be entitled "When Legends Rise" and is to be released April 27th. This record will be under Spinefarm Records. HUFFMHAY (talk) 03:41, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Right now, the only mention of a February 9 release date is from a social media cite which claims to be Don Diablo's twitter account. Maybe it is accurate. Please add:

Not done: Although the citation is good, the band is relatively non-notable. The band does not have a wikipedia article, and neither their first album The Human the Canvas or their upcoming album Call to the Void have an album article. AllMusic does not list the band, although they are mentioned on Discogs. Although List of 2018 albums is semi-protected, so not everyone can make entries, Wikipedia does not limit who can create articles. I suggest that Tunewizard or another fan develop an article on Society's Plague, with enough citations to show that the band has some notability. After the band has been shown to be notable, please re-submit the band and album for inclusion on this list. Mburrell (talk) 20:20, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You say the album is called Kids See Ghosts, and the album as shown in the list is called Kids See Ghosts, so there is no change required as it currently is shown. @ZeroBlaster: I've just added it, but with a different source. If you wish to request future albums to be added to the list, you'll need to find a news source and not an iTunes listing, as iTunes does not indicate the importance of the album or artist. Also, maybe just ask a user directly to add the album to the list for you if you are concerned about being ignored. Users are probably less likely to fulfil your request if you ask "what's wrong with everyone?" Ss112 04:04, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Missing 6ix9ine's "Day69"[edit]

Pretty big album. Has five charting singles. Was #4 the week it was released. Not sure why it was left off. Nikki Lee 1999 (talk) 05:50, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It was probably left out because Wikipedia is edited by people who do this in the spare time, and not by people paid to review charts and transfer data from charts into lists and articles.
I am quite willing to enter the album and singer onto the list if you would be willing to do a little work as well. Please provide a link to a news citation about the album, in order to show notability. Commercial sites like iTunes do not show notability, and neither do social networking sites, so please find a national news organization, can be music related, and then copy the URL onto this talk page. If you will do some work, I will be glad to do the rest of the work. Mburrell (talk) 03:31, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

These albums do not have their own Wikipedia article. I'm not sure if they should be included or not but I think huge lists such as this should not have albums without an article. @Mburrell: @Ss112: @Felipeedit: @MrTaco: thoughts? Should entries without an article be removed? The editor whose username is Z0 12:42, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done I have no issues with albums with no wiki-articles being included in the list, as long as the artist has a wiki-article, and there is a citation from a reputable news source to show album notability. We have also allowed listings where the artist does not have a wiki-article, but the album has a wiki-article, plus the requisite news citation. However, if neither the artist nor the album has a wiki-article, then listing the album is problematical, and I would want to see two or more news citations from major news articles to push the album into notability. It also depends on the lists size. The List of 2017 albums grew so large that we hit the limit for amount of citations that could be included in the article, and the editors had to be stricter about album notability to keep the list size down and prevent breaking the article. So far, the List of 2018 albums is well under the pace of growth shown last year, and a more lenient approach to notability can be taken. Some citation proof of notability must be included because Wikipedia has created definitions of notability to prevent indiscriminate listings. For example, the original creator of this section listed four bands or singers, and three news sources for the first three bands/singer, but for the fourth group, used a blog for a citation, which does not show notability, but just that there is a fan out there who likes the group. However, when posting the band in the list, a search for news citations found at least two, so notability was proven. Mburrell (talk) 04:35, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I won't be adding these albums because the requester did not include citations to show notability of the albums, but perhaps another editor less pedantic than I can add the albums. I dislike being thought of as an automatic device that some one makes a minimum effort request and I should leap to do all the research and work. A requester may not have permission to edit the list page, but can still invest some time to organize the requested input to make life easier for the editor who does have access rights to the list article.  Done All an album has to be to get listed is to be released in 2018, and have sufficient news coverage to show notability, and have an editor willing to add it. Anyone can add an album, so the best way to get albums added is to have fans of a band who also appreciate Wikipedia add the albums. I don't believe any editor scrolls through lists of albums and compares them to the Wikipedia album and adds missing albums. Editors tend to add albums that they are fans of or they believe are notable. Because List of 2018 albums is a protected list, all anyone with a limited Wikipedia presence has to do is list the album on the talk page, and preferably include a news citation, and someone will probably add the album if it is notable and the requester did not create too much work with minimal request effort. Ideally, the requester will do sufficient research to let a more experienced editor know the name of the band, the name of the album, the release date, and also a link to a recognized news organization's article about the album in order to show notability. Upcoming Adam Lambert album[edit]

Through several news articles, Adam Lambert has confirmed he will release his fourth studio album by the end of the year, but no final date has been set. The article states this about his new album, 'I've been in the studio, heavily, and I've been working on an album," Lambert tells Billboard. "I'm so excited for people to hear new music and get that out there. It's coming."'. No listing of release year. Nothing definitive at all. This is what I found on all the articles that mention his future album, that there is no specified release date. If you can find an article that says it will be released in 2018 or states released later this year, or it states it will be released in 2019 or states released next year, I can do something with that. But when the articles are vague and hand-wavy, no editor should list speculation. I know that some other article states new music this year, and the article you listed states working on a new album, but it would be original research to combine the two statements. I can state in one sentence that I edit Wikipedia, and I can state in another sentence that I have balanced on one leg, but it would be bad logic to combine the two statements to state that I edit Wikipedia while balancing on one leg. There needs to be one article that states that there will be an album released in 2018, cannot combine two separate articles to get the result you want. In fact (https://tidal.com/album/94840558 reference here) The artists name for the album The Blue Hour is not Suede, it is The London Suede. Wchrisneville (talk) 17:50, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Sorry I can't help you, but cannot make the change you request. The Blue Hour is a Wikipedia article, which states it is by the English band Suede. It shows a cover of he album, and the cover shows the band listed as Suede. There is nothing in the article stating that the album was released in the U.S. as by London Suede. The article for Suede states that the band is known as The London Suede in the US, but this is an English language Wikipedia, not a US Wikipedia, and the original band name and the band name for the primary country of release is Suede. It would be original research and a US bias to change the band name in the List of 2018 albums. Mburrell (talk) 03:51, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Another Believer, you are a qualified editor. Most of the people requesting an album being added to the list are those using bare url numbering, or have not edited 50 edits yet. I can add the album, but is there a reason you are not adding it? Are you trying to get a dig in at Ss112? I looked over the album article, and he wasn't being cantankerous, he was being an editor. Maybe he rubbed you the wrong way. So what. He has rubbed me the wrong way at times, and I have irritated him. Others have got on my nerve, and I have gotten on the nerves of others. Nature of creating a shared encyclopedia. Take a step back and see if the edits made the article or the background framework better. Looking at what he did, I would say it did, but your call if you need to push back on some edits. Mburrell (talk) 05:06, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was posting a reminder (didn't want to post in case article was redirected), but I've updated the table. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:54, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
