"Countless"

"Countless hip hop and R&B artists have sampled his music." Pretty inspecific, probably a better way to express. Maybe with a quote from a journalist or something. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.74.121.190 (talk) 16:18, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Real Talk

Why isn't there a section regarding the instant classic that is 'Real Talk.'

outdated

Are there any updates about his criminal proceedings?

On the subject of his criminal stuff, the article says: "the release of a video tape in February 2002 that showed Kelly and a 14-year-old". Do we have to stick the word allegedly in there somewhere? I am not a legal expert. Akamad 11:50, July 26, 2005 (UTC)
Yes, probably a good idea. Kelly has not been convicted of any crime and I presume this tape would be illegal if the girl really is 14. At least, in most jurisdictions. --Yamla 13:07, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

Does anybody know what the outcome of the Chicago pornography charges were? Have they gone to trial yet?

The case has yet to reach a conclusion. 67.87.27.111 19:59, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone in Chicago know if this case is going to trial. According to the article, it was filed over 5 years ago.

The Awesomely Bad Song

I noted it as You Remind Me of Something. It can be verified here: http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/50_most_awesomely_bad_songs/series_countdown.jhtml

67.87.27.111 19:59, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

I don't understand. How can that be considered a bad song???!!! It's a great song! What could you possibly criticize? Great Lyrics, Great Music, Great singing? Um, I think those would be good things.
The vh1 show concerned bad love songs. "Great Lyrics" is a very subjective statement?!? It is a song that you would play at a wedding reception? I think not.

Relative Importance

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millard_Filmore. I know MF is a dead white cat but RK is of interest only as a tabloid item, without near the importance to music history as say, Ike Turner, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ike_Turner Yet RK gets more space than both combined. Doesn't this show a problem with wikipedia? Edivorce.

No, it doesn't. If people are interested in MF and IT then they'll add information to those pages. Plus wikipedia doesn't need to economize on space.

"RK is of interest only as a tabloid item, without near the importance to music history as say, Ike Turner" This ignorant comment should be removed.

I agree such opinions don't really belong here, although I 100% agree with this particular opinion. However, this is just the talk page -- these conversations will likely eventually be archived and no longer appear at this URL.--99.234.69.225 (talk) 23:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

It appears that R Kelly is suffering some severe Cognitive Dissonance, as can be seen in the song 'Bump N Grind' in which his mind is telling him no..... But his body, his body is telling him yes.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.204.37.173 (talk) 20:55, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

No intercourse?

What tape are they talking about? The one with R Kelly urinating on the girl (which we all know is widely available online) shows him having sex with her like 2 minutes before urinating on her. I want to give the author a chance to defend the comment, though; so I won't edit it myself. Is there another R Kelly tape with him urinating on ANOTHER girl?Scott Free 03:02, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

yah i agree, im sure there was intercourse, but i think it was because you couldnt actually see penis-vagina contact in the video, just there motions. though didnt he also have oral sex with her?, is that not considered intercourse?--Fabio 23:39, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

In all fairness the word "alleged" and "allegedly" should be used in all references to the videotape since it was ruled in court that he was innocent on all accounts of the charges brought forward against him. 76.171.92.226 (talk) 11:10, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Please change the phrase "underage woman" to "underaged girl" or simply to "a minor". There is no such thing as an "underage woman". "Woman" means "adult", which his victim clearly was not. The typos hurt the credibility of the discussors. R.K can have with lil black girls. If he had sex with lil white girls there would have been a federal trial. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.174.110.146 (talk) 15:22, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Date of birth

Can someone check out that date of birth...there's no way R. Kelly is just 30 years old...he's much closer to 40...look at the article about his career. larrysdiva

"pied piper of R&B"

This sounds more like an pundit's jab at Kelly's personal life. It's also the title of an unauthorized biography of R. Kelly. While it deserves to be mentioned, it probably should not be listed in the infobox that he is "also known as" this dubious honorific title, unless we have some sources saying embraces the humor at his expense, and even then I'm not so sure. — CharlotteWebb 02:46, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Erm.. he refers to himself as this in numerous songs, so I would reason that he embraces the name. Bengnc 02:59, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Is this article a haven for idiots and morons?

You have a paragraph which begins by chronicling his arrest over child abuse then meanders into how many millions of records he has sold. For God's sake get a brain, cretins. If you're going to protect the page at least have the mentality to clean it up before you do so.

Pages like this prove that Wikipedia, and its pedantic 'wannabe editors', is an utter lost cause. 195.92.168.164 17:31, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it's a lost cause; it is just recognized that partisans will camp out on an article and skew the consensus. It is still useful as a source. Just be aware that the BS factor will rise when you get to hot-button topics. See the Code Pink article for an example.

To answer your question; yes, I think so. R Kelly is plainly guilty as taped. Like Michael Jackson, the fans don't want to believe that their idol is worthless scum (possibly, some of them identify with him).

Seperate the art from the artist

We should always separate the Art from the Artist! No matter what your thoughts are positive or negative of R. Kelly's personal life, he is arguably one of the greatest living song writers of our time. He writes hit songs not only for himself but for artist ranging from Celine Dion to OJ Da Juiceman, from mainstream to gospel, to classical to pop. Who else other than possibly Dianne Warren is doing that? It is because of his indiscretions, he is really over looked as a relevant and prolific songwriter, accept among his core audience. If you ever go to an R.Kelly concert, his repertoire of songs will amaze you! The bottom line is that no matter what you think of him personally, the man a is a genius at what he does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.6.148.45 (talk) 05:11, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Too much information in the 'legal issues' section?

Do any other people think that we go into a bit too much detail about the allegations in this section? Given that most of the charges were dropped and he was acquitted of the ones that went to trial, I think saying so much about it verges on violating WP:BLP. This section should be cut back to a few sentences at most. Robofish (talk) 02:14, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

I think the length is justified, but I've edited it to mention right at the start (and in the title) that it ends in aquittal. Gronky (talk) 03:53, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Actually, the second paragraph is too verbose. It could be about half its current length. All the refs should be kept but it's not necessary to list the reasons for each delay. Fixing this is on my mental todo list but it's not a job for today. Gronky (talk) 12:46, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Please remove a poorly cited statement

Under the Legal Issues section, it contains the following sentence:

"Officers found an unusual amount of commercially manufactured and distributed adult porn in a room.[95]"

Initially, I found that statement strange. An "unusual amount?" What is a "usual" amount? I was going to reword it to say "Officers found other commercially manufactured adult porn in the house," but I decided to follow the citation and see what EXACTLY it said. As it turns out, it said nothing. That is, at no point in the cited article supporting that sentence was ANY mention made of commercial or other adult pornography being found at the house.

On those grounds, I would like to have the sentence removed. Please leave the citation, as it is used for other sentences in the page; just remove the sentence I quoted above. I would just do it myself, but the page is semi-protected.

Thanks.

Proposed topic - History of Statutory Rape-Related Civil Lawsuits

History of Statutory Rape-Related Civil Lawsuits

From the early 1990's until the late 2000's, dozens of lawsuits and related documents, such as affidavits, were filed against Kelly for his alleged engagement in inappropriate sexual relationships with children between the ages of thirteen and sixteen years old. One such suit alleges that R. Kelly recruited girls from Chicago high school Kenwood Academy to have group and individual sex with him, paying them with for the acts with athletic shoes. The suit came to light after one such young girl attempted suicide. Another suit alleges that Kelly forced a young girl into an abortion having begun an inappropriate sexual relationship with her on the night of her prom. Multiple videotapes emerged during this period in association with these accusations. Nevertheless, most of the lawsuits were settled outside of court. As a result, Kelly has never seen trial in a civil or criminal court for sexual assault of a minor.

Hopper, Jessica (16 December 2013). "Read the "stomach-churning" sexual assault accusations against R. Kelly in full". The Village Voice (New York).

Add short summary of legal proceedings to Lead section

WP:LEAD and WP:BLP state that lead sections should be: notable, neutral, and include "controversy" with appropriate historical weight.

Proposing to add the following as a 4th lead paragraph:

Kelly is also well-known for his acquittal in a high-profile child pornography trial and civil suits alleging sex with a minor. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-4563809.html

This meets all of the aforementioned criteria for BLP and LEAD and is a necessary part of Kelly's public and historical life story. Many people know Kelly not for his music at all, but rather for his high-profile trial and related court settlements. A good analogy would be O.J. Simpson's Wikipedia entry, which follows the same logic in mentioning his legal proceedings, as many people know him for those and not for his impressive football career.

"Allegations of statutory rape," though a legally-sound and factually-based description, has raised some concerns, so because not all states use that terminology, it has been replaced with "civil suits alleging sex with a minor."

I'd remove the section and document those things if/when they happen rather than listing predictions for the future. Saying "I plan to do X" or "Ms. Y is interested in doing something with me" isn't notable enough to get a place in an encyclopedia. Gronky (talk) 15:59, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

legal issues

I've repeatedly attempted to illustrate the arrest of Sylvester in Florida on child pornography charges by using a public domain image taken by the State of Florida, yet editor Wearypoet has repeatedly removed the image using a baseless claim of "copyright infringement" as their original rationale, and now claims "trolling". I've stated to Wearypoet that if they believe the image to be infringing then it should be nominated for deletion (which has not been done, because it isn't). It should be noted that Poet's previous edits to this section are largely attempts at content removal or censorship which have been reverted by other editors. So, I will simply ask: @Wearypoet: what is your specific objection to inclusion of this image, and the policy rationale for your content removal? -- dsprc [talk] 19:44, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Content forking / Edit war

@Sushuki12: why did you fork off an entirely new article from this one?

@Wearypoet:, I've asked you repeatedly to engage in meaningful discussion yet you refuse to do so. What is your specific, policy based rationale for the continued content removal?

The fork appears to be fallout from both of your edit wars and there was no discussion on the matter. You need to come here and hammer this content dispute out to form a consensus. We do not handle this through edit summaries. Continued disruptive editing may result in both of you being blocked from editing. -- dsprc [talk] 14:41, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

However I don't think we can really fault User:EdJohnston, WP:Wrong version means admins generally don't pay too much attention to what they're protecting, and of course anyone else could have noticed the vandalism in the time between in being carried out and the protection and done something about it, or made an edit request after protection. Edit warring (again)

Namaste. I am addressing this here to elicit feedback and additional attention:

@Wearypoet: in this edit to the infobox [3] you claim that you "fixed" the statement regarding Kelly's marriage to Aaliyah by adding "unofficial" to the line; I am not familiar with such terminology; either you are married or you're not. Could you please explain how it is "unofficial"? You also reintroduced WP:POV and WP:PEACOCK material in this edit [4] - again with no valid rationale. In this edit [5] you present a bogus rationale (and abuse of edit summaries, minor edits) for removal of content claiming it is present in the 'Legal issues' section but nothing could be further from the truth. On top of that, the removal of WP:NAMEDREFS breaks the other citations for which it is used later on. Such behaviour is similar to your prior tendentious editing and censorship which ultimately resulted in the page being protected previously. You were also warned previously by myself, numerous other editors and EdJohnston (the closing Administrator at WP:AN3 [6]) that if this behaviour continued it may result in your banishment or being blocked from editing. Your edits do not have consensus, and your behaviour is disruptive. If you take issue with my contributions, then please present an honest objection WP:HERE on the talk page so we can work it out instead of the bogus claims in edit summaries. I am more than willing and happy to reach a compromise... but, I can't do it alone. Oh, and please stop referring to me as a "troll"; that word doesn't mean what you think it does (which makes you look bad), and it violates WP:NPA and WP:CIV. Thanks. -- dsprc [talk] 09:46, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

@Dsprc: - You're "unaware of such terminology" because you don't know what you're typing half of the time on that page. It was unofficial because there is no valid proof that a marriage took place, just reports from the press. Second, according to Illinois law, they couldn't have legally been married. Lastly, both have denied ever being married. Do you understand now? Therefore, the "marriage" is unofficial. You seriously need to be banned from that page or just remove yourself from editing that page because you're just trolling at this point. You were warned before but you constantly continue to troll and vandalize Kelly's Wikipedia page.

Also I'm willing to compromise so you can stop this back and forth mess. I thought you would leave this page alone after the lock but you seem so adamant for whatever reason. - Wearypoet (talk) WearyPoet

It is either legal or illegal; not "official" or "unofficial" (and the latter are not params for {{marriage}} anyhow). Your continued insults and personal attacks again violate WP:NPA, WP:CIV and demonstrate you may not be here to collaborate.
We have a court case reported on by multiple, reliable, third party sources, that reviewed the documents which state that Aaliyah's family had the marriage annulled, by a Michigan Judge, because Kelly illegally entered into marriage with a minor who could not consent. The Press reports are Good Enough™ for us (third-parties are even preferred). If you believe an editor warrants a ban or block because you feel they violate some WP:POLICY, then you're strongly encouraged to present it at one of the appropriate Wikipedia:Noticeboards.
In this revert [7] you present another[8] bogus rationale for removal: "No proper citation and the other case has nothing to do with Aaliyah/it's already under the "Legal issues" section"; this material is properly cited to the Chicago Sun Times (CST), you may review the reference given for verification. The material is sourced. The illegal marriage with Aaliyah is not even mentioned at all in Legal, only Tiffany Hawkins' well documented case against Kelly is, and I only offer a passing mention because the issues are related, and I directed the reader to the respective anchored Legal section for review. All statements are backed by the CST piece. You're just making stuff up to remove content that you don't like. -- dsprc [talk] 23:28, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Profile Picture

Is there anyway we can change the picture on R. Kelly's page? - Wearypoet (talk)WearyPoet — Preceding undated comment added 21:09, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

If you have images that adhered to our WP:COPYRIGHT policy you are free to upload them. Right now we only have the two images of Kelly on Commons:Category:R. Kelly and a flowchart - so, any additions are welcome. If you want more images why do you repeatedly remove the second one against consensus? -- dsprc [talk] 23:35, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

R. Kelly has a transgender son

R. Kelly has a son named Jay, and this article should reflect that rather than using his son's birth name Jaya.[1]

Children

Children aren't generally included in a biography of a living person and I have boldly removed them. Even though in this case there is one passing mention in a source provided, it is out of date regarding Jaya anyway. Rather than using an outdated source and discussing the matter in detail (which I don't think is notable) I would suggest it is left out. If other editors disagree I would suggest a current source only is used and that information only be added to the infobox. Flat Out talk to me 06:56, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Huge PR mistake! Under the segment titled: "Legacy" it says: R.Kelly's music has only been used in "comedy" films. Why it must be changed: First of all his songs are not only used in "comedy" films. Which I'll prove in a minute. Secondly, his songs are not parodies nor comedy and so I'm sure he wouldn't want to be remembered that way. I'm sure it's just a typo, or simply overlooked serious PR mistake. Here's proof that his songs have appeared in non-comedy films also: One of the films that should be mentioned is "Batman and Robin". Yes, all the films mentioned in the list are comedy films except for "Batman and Robin" which was never classified as a comedy anywhere, but as a super hero movie, furthermore it stared George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Uma Thurman, and Alicia Silverstone most of whom are not recognized as comedians and do mostly serious, drama, or action movies. The song was "Gotham City" which might sound like a funny topic but actually reached the top 9 in the US and UK as a single on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, UK Singles Chart, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and others. Also on the "Batman and Robin" soundtrack are songs by The Smashing Pumpkins, Goo Goo Dolls, and R.E.M.'s none of which are parody or comedy singers. Suggested change: "Kelly's music has been used in numerous film soundtracks including American Reunion, Batman and Robin, The Hangover Part III, Ice Age: The Meltdown, and Fun with Dick and Jane." You'll notice that the word "comedy" has been omitted and alters the meaning significantly to make R.Kelly NOT seem like a famous comedian, nor his works a comedy. And also the movie "Batman and Robin" was added to the list of movies. And I'm sure out of the millions of movies that have been produced since the 1980's that other movies have his songs in them and might even be properly attributed but didn't make it into today's computer archives, many movies have been forgotten or lost, a famous quote by George Lucas when digitally remastering the original Star Wars collection and lamenting over how much the film had deteriorated and faded while in storage, "one more year and the original star wars film would've been lost forever due to aging damage." Thank you for giving R.Kelly the serious (less comical) recognition he deserves. Movies no matter how comical are big business and a huge marketing asset or liability for any entertainer. 121.174.99.73 (talk) 13:55, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

R. Kelly has committed statutory rape. This is not up for discussion, this is a fact.

This is extremely important. There has been a major effort on part of his fans and media in the last decade to normalize Kelly's behavior. But the thing that needs to be made very clear is that R Kelly has had sexual relationships with girls under the age of consent. He is a statutory rapist. This is not an alleged claim, or simply a rumor: it is a fact that Kelly was got married to Alliyah when she was 15 years old. The girl in the infamous videotape with him was just out of 8th grade. There are countless stories of young girls who have been taken advantage by his predatory behavior and the tactics he used to seduce and abuse them, all in public court documents, including the gifts he bought for these girls, at least one abortion that he paid for, and the very real pain and trauma that he has caused in his victims (including suicide attempts, even from Aaliyah herself). Of course, these lawsuits are only alligations. If there was just ONE recorded case of this happening, you could chalk it up to some false rumors or bogus alligations. But for the love of God, there are countless girls who have come forward about this, and he attempted to MARRY a 15 year old, meaning he had a relationship with her even earlier than then. All I am getting at with this is that in the Legal Issues section, it only makes mention of the videotape, and the illegal marriage, making it seem that these were two isolated incidents instead of a well-documented history of predatory behavior. I've tried to add more detail to this section and it has been removed. Furthermore, it makes zero mention of any of this in the introductory paragraph, even though I guarantee if you asked a random person, including a Kelly fan, about the one thing that they remember most about him, it will be that infamous video. The article fails to mention this and I'd hate to see fans and defenders of Kelly have their way in keeping these details out of history. It does an incredible disservice to his victims.

These are all alleged claims and rumors.. If you just read the title of the source it says, accusations. These are not "extremely important" information, as he has not been judged guilty for any of the alleged claims. All of these allegation are mentioned in strong detail in the legal issue setion, that should probably even be trimmed down a bit to be honest. To be clear, these are nothing more than just rumors and claims for now. - AffeL (talk) 18:44, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
Ahhh, I knew you'd show up. As we both know, the Legal Section does *not* mention these specific claims, it only references the illegal marriage and the video and one case of a 15 year old girl, which he settled for $250,000. If you could please direct me to the specific line of the article that references the over two dozen lawsuits against R. Kelly for the exact same behavior, that'd be great. You're not going to, because it isn't there. Once again, for the people in the back: Your efforts here are part of a much greater effort to control the narrative surrounding R Kelly as two isolated incidents of child abuse rather than a systemic pattern of ("alleged") behavior. I like how you reference trimming the section down when the rest of the article about his music is so laughably detailed. Maybe his Legal section is long because he keeps breaking the law? Also, why would their status as allegations somehow prevent them from being included? Would we not post on Woody Allen's sexual misonduct because they are merely allegations? And can we *please* get some other voices in on this discussion, and not just AffeL, who is apparently some kind of authority on the topic? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThirstCurfew (talkcontribs) 21:22, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

R. Kelly was initially looked upon as a soul artist with no soul. kelly started out in the Church. He served his Church Community as a singer and even put out a gospel album. He continues to promote the Lords name with his singing. He describes his songs as Religious Love. He then started placing and taking bets and set off for the streets. With this his vocals he was able to express Religious love, so he made "Religious Love" and Heaven If You Hear Me." Gbrida (talk) 04:33, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Fan Boy Puff Piece

How embarrassing for Wikipedia to have this 'Fan Boy Puff Piece' of this length about a minor artist like this. This should be reduced to at least half of current length and re-written in a neutral encyclopedic style. Seki1949 (talk) 04:10, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

  • Shouldn't the "Rockland Records" section be a sub-heading under "Career"? Is it not a career move to launch your own record label?
  • I feel like the "Other legal issues" and "Sex scandals and allegations" sections are personal issues... Should these sections not be a sub-heading under "Personal life"?

I posit that the Sub-heading "Sex tape allegations" should be changed to "Child Pornography Allegations". It's more reflective of his charges-- which were for child pornography, and more accurately reflects the content on the tape, which features a minor (who is legally unable to consent to sex, meaning that this isn't so much a "sex tape" as it is child pornography). 71.192.105.152 (talk) 03:18, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

Not done: Your request is blank or it only consists of a vague request for editing permission. It is not possible for individual users to be granted permission to edit a semi-protected page; however, you can do one of the following:
  • If you have an account, you will be able to edit this page four days after account registration if you make at least 10 constructive edits to other pages.
  • If you do not have an account, you can create one by clicking the Login/Create account link at the top right corner of the page and following the instructions there. Once your account is created and you meet four day/ten edit requirements you will be able to edit this page.
  • You can request unprotection of this page by asking the administrator who protected it. Instructions on how to do this are at WP:UNPROTECT. A page will only be unprotected if you provide a valid rationale that addresses the original reason for protection.
  • You can provide a specific request to edit the page in "change X to Y" format on this talk page and an editor who is not blocked from editing will determine if the requested edit is appropriate. —KuyaBriBriTalk 13:54, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

Oldest official website URL

At http://web.archive.org/web/20000620224235/http://www.shaft-themovie.com/links.html I found "http://www.peeps.com/rkelly" seems to be the oldest official site URL for R Kelly. There is a copy on the wayback machine at http://web.archive.org/web/20000817230319/http://www.peeps.com/rkelly/ WhisperToMe (talk) 20:14, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Wrong date of birth

Hi, this article states the birth date as January 8, 1967 with the following source. Firstly is that reliable source? The Library of Congress has the birth date: January 8, 1969. Same goes for worldcat.org. - MakesNoMistakes (talk) 07:43, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Why is there no mention of R. Kelly being in jail?

Seems like this would be a key piece of information. Article is obviously biased and written by some fan. XB9000 (talk) 01:35, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a news outlet - the accusations and his trial are both now covered in the article, but Wiki should not be considered an up-to-date news source for the status of an individual for whom there is an article 51.6.114.124 (talk) 15:06, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

"allege" rapist. He has never been convicted of that crime. 72.234.103.212 (talk) 10:57, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

The words "rapist" and "rape" do not currently appear in the article. Please be more specific as to the change you would like to see made to the article. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 13:00, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Can you please make it a point within the first line to include that he is a sex offender? Jeffrey Epstein's Wikipedia entry lists him as an financier and a sex offender in the same line and R. Kelly's entry should reflect that. Quiisa (talk) 17:00, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

no Unnecessary There is a whole paragraph in the lead section on his sex crimes allegations. Putting this in the first sentence would be redundant. P,TO 19104 (talk) (contribs) 22:56, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Sentence

I agree that the sentence is sufficiently long to be worth mentioning in the lead; if it was a short one, then it could be considered a temporary phenomenon. But 104 years is effectively career-ending. 2A02:C7F:BE04:700:A545:F2A0:2E6E:1874 (talk) 12:59, 21 November 2020 (UTC) (By the way, the post that was here breached WP:NOTFORUM and has been removed on that account.)

Artistry

"as their productions were seductive enough to sell such blatant come-ons."

Production was seductive? What does that mean? If the production had been different the songs would not have sold? I don't understand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:fea8:bd20:1b9a:2c94:e26a:eb49:22f4 (talk) 07:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Marriage

Please remove Aaliyah from the infobox. The marriage wasn't legal. Wikipedia should take the side of the law & the innocent victim. 2A02:AB88:2A0E:DD00:486D:5676:C35B:6076 (talk) 09:31, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

It seems best to err on the side of caution here and remove it from the info box for now while this is under discussion. The marriage was a key part of the second criminal trial and needs to be addressed in the article. It is present in the section: Illegal marriage. Cedar777 (talk) 23:01, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, there is no need for censorship, please read WP:NOTNEWS. the marriage may have been illegal, but he was at one point married to aaliyah. Dr. Phil's first marriage was annulled too, but it isn't removed from the infobox. SomeWhatLife (talk) 12:47, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Would it make sense to have her listed as "Aaliyah (illegal)"? Knittea (talk) 03:19, 21 November 2021 (UTC) Or illegal? Knittea (talk) 03:21, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
