The section on the Epistles of Phalaris is not clear: it should say what Bentley wrote, what conclusions he drew, and why this is his best-known work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neurobrit (talk • contribs) 03:15, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Although the article indicates that £5000 was not a very large legacy, in 1742 (the year Richard Bentley died) that sum of money had the equivalent buying power of nearly £500,000 in 2010 [1]. Bunsen[edit]

Section 6, 'Legacy and honors'

    The modern German school of philology recognised his genius. Bunsen wrote that Bentley "was the founder of historical philology."

Which Bunsen does this refer to? Christian Charles Josias Bunsen, or Robert Bunsen? Each of their WP entries mention involvement in philology, and to someone completely unfamiliar with the field as I am, I'm left unsure. Anastrophe (talk) 03:39, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of Works[edit]

The list does not even mention his Horace or Terence, and curiously puts his Manilius among his minor works shortly after giving Housman's opinion that it was his greatest. Seadowns (talk) 18:58, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
