Why do you quote the "Frankfurter Rundschau"? Is it an exact translation of the German article?? There's definitly more to know about Eisenstadt than thats what is said.. Sadly, I do not really know his biography..

This is really a very, very bad translation. It does not convey the meaning of the original in an intelligible way. (Actually, the first sentence states the opposite of the original sentence.) Furthermore, a newspaper citation should really not be in the header of an article. The German Wikipedia article cites the same quote, but not in such a prominent place. Since I am not an expert on Eisenstadt at all, I will leave it to others to change this article's structure and generally enhance it. (Anyone speak Hebrew? The Hebrew article seems to be pretty good, it could be used for inspiration...)

Anyway, what I can do is offer an alternative translation. I will not insert it into the article right away, but leave it here for discussion:

"Eisenstadt's research has considerably contributed to detaching the notion of modernity from the eurocentric idea that the cultural program developed in the West is a natural development model for all societies. [...] The European model is only the earliest one chronologically. It releases the impulse. But the societal reactions - whether in the U.S., in Canada, in Japan, or in South East Asia - occurred with entirely different cultural reagents."

This is just an idea. On the whole, also the original has its inconsistencies (e.g. use of present / past...?), and I still do not see why this rather random newspaper quotation should get such a prominent place within this article. But as a kind of "damage limitation" a better translation would really be a start...

Contradiction in dates[edit]
