Excessive story[edit]

The story section seems a bit excessive to me. Is it really necessary to describe every single scene? Frankly, it looks to me like fancruft. —Frungi 20:18, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed it. I kept the intro paragraph, and mentioned the relationship at the end just because it was stressed alot during the game. If I left anything important out, we can always just bring up an older version of the page and try again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.94.134.103 (talkcontribs) 21:35, December 30, 2006
Condensing it again. I remember composing one of the early drafts for the Plot section, and I'm quite a rambler. 72.94.139.103, one gripe I had about your revision is the verb tense you used -- plot summaries for works of fiction should always be phrased in the present tense, so you should avoid constructs like "Spyro must travel throughout each realm" (which is a future tense construct that is typically reserved for promotional summaries, like what you would read in a magazine or on the back of the gamebox). I'm also not a fan of giving away spoilers (such as the Sorceress's true use for the dragon eggs) right away, so I moved that farther down. As an action-platforming game, the focus for Year of the Dragon is on gameplay over story, so much of what was previously described can be more properly addressed under the Gameplay heading. --Stratadrake 01:38, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
kool, thanks.

More Parodies[edit]

I am not sure wether this is worth noting, but the Agent 9 minigames parody shooter games. The Dinosaur one is much like Point Blank or Time Crisis, in that you shoot from a set track, and I remember there being one much like Doom. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Floating Banana (talkcontribs) 08:27, May 28, 2007 (UTC)

Those parodies are trivial. Michael Mad 14:47, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unless we can verify it to a reliable source, otherwise, we can just leave it at the fact that they parody other games. --Stratadrake 15:40, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Making More Information[edit]

Thought the page was a bit small compared To Other Game Pages So I Just Added some more subjects Like "Gameplay" And "Other Characters"... any issues? User:Crasnex 17 December 2007

There's a lot of really really bad spelling mistakes throughout the article. That is my only issue.--Evildevil (talk) 04:04, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, well im not a very good speller, sorry, but seriously, the page needed this information, heck it didn't even have gameplay on it user:crasnex 21 December 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.168.56.33 (talk) 03:55, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I recommend going through and capitalizing pronouns and things as well. Right now, this article looks like it was written by an elementary schooler. Er... no offense. --Evildevil (talk) 00:45, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yeah, my spelling is as bad as an elementary schooler, sorry User:Crasnex 23 December 2007 —Preceding comment was added at 04:54, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protestor or protester?[edit]

I know its a simple Question but Some people say Protestor and Some people say Protester... Why is this so? User:Crasnex 23 December 2007

Alot More Stuffs[edit]

Ok men, We need alot more topics and other things. We Have absolutely NO screenshots, No Reception, No External Links, No see also, No voice actors, No Development, Not much At All Your lucky, before I came we didn't even have a gameplay sections User:Crasnex 23 December 2007 —Preceding comment was added at 05:56, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contradicting dates[edit]

The infobox states that the Australian release date is October 25, but the main body says November 10. Does anyone know which is correct? — Manticore 09:09, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Voice actors[edit]

can be found on the imdb site and yeah we need more screenshots and more content this is a boring page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phantomthedubber (talkcontribs)

Voice actors are not an important element to include unless there is more content than simply a list. Screenshots much be tempered by Wikipedia's non-free content criteria, which is why there are so few. Finally, if you have reliable sources that can be used to add more content, we would love to see it. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 20:13, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be proud to tell my kids I chipped in[edit]

This is a great FA. I'm proud to have donated to the wikimedia / pedia project in the interests of disseminating information to the world about the computer games industry, obscure nazis / WW2 events, and other worthwhile topics. 62.232.34.3 (talk) 07:55, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Over 6,000 people viewed this article last month so I am sure it was useful to several people. I'm personally glad that articles can reach featured status regardless of what some snooty users personally feel about their content. Andrzejbanas (talk) 10:48, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But it's a compliment... Brutannica (talk) 22:16, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so. See sarcasm. This anonymous person's time was well spent whining on a talk page; improving articles they consider important to featured article status would just be silly. Richard001 (talk) 23:07, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Given that this only has a very crude skateboarding minigame not at all comparable in quality or duration to real skating games like Tony Hawk's, should it be included? I remember that Metal Gear Solid 2 had a somewhat decent skating minigame too, but that isn't included. And since this also has other minigames like racing and shooting, but isn't included in those game categories, should it not be removed? Richard001 (talk) 23:07, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see no point to including it. If anything, I'd say the categorization is misleading and would lead to confusion. (Guyinblack25 talk 23:21, 10 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Shootings Manifesto[edit]

Instead of edit-warring over this... mentioning that this game was mentioned in a shooter's manifesto is absolutely undue weight. There is no coverage of Spyro as meaningfully contributing to the shooter, no coverage specifically on Spyro in relation to the shooter, and even the supplied source for the statement makes it clear that its inclusion is trolling, not a serious comment by the shooter. So I don’t see how this is important enough for inclusion in the article at all, let alone the lead (where it shouldn’t be anyhow, if there’s no additional commentary in the article proper.) Release Date[edit]

Through Twitter, I found an old version of Insomniac's website, and it lists Year of the Dragon as coming out on October 11th, not the 24 like the GameSpot source. (https://web.archive.org/web/20040603044950/http://www.insomniacgames.com/html/games/spyro3/index.html). I was wondering what source we should use. JCW555 (talk) 18:49, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take another look at some old sources and see which ones agree. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 19:21, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

piracy protection[edit]

spyro 3 was groundbreaking for its piracy protection systems. i think it should be added. https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/keeping-the-pirates-at-bay 2806:106E:19:517F:4CE4:1B94:1BDE:108F (talk) 19:01, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That source is already included (in the reception section.) Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 17:00, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
