Subpage stuff

[edit]

If you want a subpage to your '"User"' page, you '"must"' name it starting with the User namespace.

  • User:Wilhelmk/Test is a subpage of Wilhelmk in the User namespace.
  • Wilhelmk/Test2 is NOT a subpage of Wilhelmk in the User namespace - it becomes a page in the Main namespace

Ruler stuff

[edit]

This is text preceeding a ruler symbol. --- This is text immediately after a ruler symbol. Note that if a heading style is applied to this line, then the ruler syntax preceeding this line won't work (at least in Wiki On A Stick - need to recheck for MediaWiki). ---

==2nd level heading text immediately after a ruler symbol (note the "ruler" immediately following this is supplied by MediaWiki automatically)== Another edited ruler symbol follows... --- This is text immediately after a ruler symbol

Link stuff

[edit]

Link to a file with no spaces (WOAS uses HTML): <a href='file:\\vms-01\development_data\Reference_Documents \Developer_Docs\Coordinate_Systems\F15E_Coordinate_Systems.doc'>F15E_Coordinate_Systems.doc</a>

Link to a file with spaces ():<a href="file:\\vms-01\adm\Personal\wilhelmk\Kevin's StuffVdebug table.doc" target='_new'> debug table.doc</a>

Link to a file with spaces (double quotes): <a href="file:\\vms-01\adm\Personal\wilhelmk\ECP-40 Data to Rm 3107readme.doc" target=_new'> readme.doc</a>

Link to a file with spaces (single quotes & "%20"): <a href="file:\\vms-01\adm\Personal\wilhelmk\ECP-40%20Data%20to% 20Rm%203107readme.doc" target=_new'> readme.doc</a>

Link to a file with spaces (note single brackets; replace "space" with %20): SlickComments.docx

Link to a spot (anchor?) in another Wiki page: User:Wilhelmk->ToDo

Subpage stuff

[edit]

Link to a main page that is NOT a subpage to my root user page: Wilhelmk - Main Page 1

Link to a "main" page that IS a subpage to my root user page: User:Wilhelmk/Subpage Level 1

Link to a 2nd-level subpage to my root user page: User:Wilhelmk/Subpage Level 1/Subpage Level 2

Template Stuff

[edit]

I need to look up the difference between functions and templates, and how they're specified, in different Wiki syntaxes.

Note that "Include::" is NOT a namespace, but rather a function. The Help is misleading on this.

In TBD Wiki, you use the "Include::..." syntax to cause transclusion to occur; in MediaWiki, you use the"{{...}}" syntax.

Here is a link to the "Template:Page Needs Updated" template: [[Template::Page Needs Updated]]

Here is the transclusion of the template, passing an argument of "Some reason": Include::Template::Page Needs UpdatedjSome reason.

Here is a link to the "Template:Page To Be Deleted" template: [[Template::Page To Be Deleted]]

Here is the transclusion of the template: lnclude::Template::Page To Be Deleted

Here is a link to the "Main PCATD Page Links" template: Ternplate::Main PCATD Page Links

Here is the transclusion of the template: Include::Template::Main PCATD Page Links

This option uses Definition List syntax, but does not appear to be rendered correctly by the browser (i.e. the definition for any level except the first level is bolded).

[edit]

This is an attempt to use Definition List syntax after bulleted items. Note that any heading-level that occurs immediately after a Definition List syntax line has the complete "trail" of bullets down to its level.

  • Application Documents
    • Codewright
  • Developer Documentation
Placing 2nd-level bulleted item after this 1st-level Definition List syntax causes an extra bullet to be displayed.
