Information icon In a recent edit, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. — Preceding undated comment added 09:18, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

September 2015[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Gary Oldman. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 03:37, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Date formats[edit]

I see you have some past warnings on this and English varieties. Please read MOS:DATERET. In particular though, for video games, the developer's nationality is not seen as representing a strong national tie for the video game. As such, MOS:RETAIN applies and the existing format should be left alone. Also, the edit note "UK style" is not a explanation of why you made your change, it simply is the change you made. -- ferret (talk) 23:40, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"UK style"[edit]

Although it is appreciated to correct articles employing British English (or English, honestly, though I never made that choice), I would highly suggest you provide more descriptive reasons for your edits, as it is nearly impossible to discern whether or not you've done anything but change words/dates/et al with this as your description. Not going to link to any policy pages as the dude taking things way too seriously did before ostensibly voicing the same sort of concern. Just a suggestion. 72.208.101.200 (talk) 22:08, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

thank you![edit]

Hi 17A, I've noticed your improvements to literally dozens of UK squash articles by adding the UK style date settings. Thanks very much, much appreciated. Dr. Vogel (talk) 22:53, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kipperfield, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

November 2018[edit]

Information icon Please don't change the format of dates, as you did to Bright Phoebus. As a general rule, if an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the dates should be left in the format they were originally written in, unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic. Please also note that Wikipedia does not use ordinal suffixes (e.g., st, nd, th), articles, or leading zeros on dates.

For more information about how dates should be written on Wikipedia, please see this page.

If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you. Balkywrest (talk) 18:12, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
