Reverted[edit]

Wikipedia policy is "BRD", meaning be Bold in your edits, but if Reverted, take to Discussion on the Talk page of the article rather than reverting the revert. In general, do not remove referenced content (and the ref) unless you are replacing it with correct content a reliable source reference. Also, do not add unreferenced content. Stuff like "He retired from this federal position after a number of years of devoted service and concentrated his time and efforts to the private practice of law. During his retirement, Shaughnessy was actively involved in spiritual activities that included liturgical duties at his local parish. A devout Catholic, Shaughnessy made several pilgrimages throughout the Holy Land and Europe." might be added to a Personal life section, after Career section, but only if all can be referenced. Lastly, your efforts suggest a personal connection to Paul. If that is true, review WP:COI. David notMD (talk) 20:05, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was not aware of the COI. And yes, there is a personal connection. What references can be used to be used to update this information? The only ones used in the current publication ise the local city newspaper from that era. Can the obituary be used as a reference? 2BTruthful (talk) 21:47, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The info above came from an unpublished book given to extended family members. So, I assume that cannot be used as a reference if I requested a review by your peers. Is that correct? 2BTruthful (talk) 22:09, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct: reliable sources must be published. Note that the local city newspaper from that era is a perfectly acceptable reliable source, provided that you have the date and page number for any articles you cite, so that any motivated individual could verify the article's statements.--Quisqualis (talk) 01:18, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
