March 2017[edit]

Hi, this is Martin of Sheffield (talk). I've reverted you edit to Bioluminescence for two reasons: verifiability and language. New claims, particularly where they contradict existing academic work must be supported by a citable source. If you can dig out the source of this "new evidence" and include it as a citation the information can be replaced. If you are not sure how to do this then put the text and citation on the talk page and another editor can insert it for you. When writing for an encyclopaedia you should aim for a more formal style. Referring to the lavae as "he" is informal. "It" would be better or else use a noun rather than pronoun. Again, if this is a problem please put the information on the talk page and another editor will rephrase it for you. Regards, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 11:33, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved your response back here, it keeps the conversation together:

May I ask how i can Quote something out of a documentary, since the information comes from planet earth II, with this I would also like to ask if this is a reliable source. Kind regards, A wikipedia user — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.113.223.38 (talk) 11:52, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

You don't need to draw my attention to anything you write here, it's on my watchlist. Please also remember to sign youur edits by adding four tildes "~~~~" after every post to a talk page.
Quoting a programme is problematical. As an absolute minimum you need to specify which episode, and approximately when within the episode. The biggest issue though is whether the programme will remain visible in say 6 months or 6 years. I see that there is a book published, maybe that will mention the fact and it would be a far better source. If you follow the link back to Railroad worm you'll see that the defensive aspect is mentioned and cites a 2005 paper published by the University of Florida, so that is citable for a start. I have spent the last half hour Googling for articles on the worm, and all seem to state that the green glow is for sexual attraction rather than hunting. You'll have to track this one down yourself.
