Spurrier's tavern

Could you doublecheck the ref below for Mary Surrat Jenkins. The ref only mentions she was "born" in Clinton, but "raised" at Waterloo "The Calvert Property". Calvert owned multiple tobacco plantations, but only the Spurrier's property would have the name Waterloo associated with it.

Thanks for the citations; I removed their "ref" tags above so they'd display better here. Some additional sources I've found include:
A primary concern is that many of these sources clearly state that the "Calvert('s) Manor" or "Waterloo" at which Jenkins was born (or raised) was in Prince George's County. Spurrier's was in present-day Howard County, which at that time remained part of a larger Anne Arundel County, not Prince George's County.
We know that "Waterloo" was applied to the former Spurrier property, but we don't know that Calvert or others didn't also apply the name to other property in Prince George's County. Reaching our own conclusion that Jenkins' home was the Waterloo in Howard/Anne Arundel gets into original research, which we need to avoid.

It looks like all of these references are a variation of text from a single source which either mistakenly assumed Waterloo was in P.G., or mistakenly assumed that the Calvert plantation she was raised at was Waterloo. (Calvert bounced from plantation to plantation managing crops and staff, so she may have been both in P.G. and at Waterloo at points in time) Either way a book, record or newspaper reference is not easily available online, but may present itself in the future. May 2014 disambig contest: let's do it again!

Greetings fellow disambiguator! Remember back in February when we made history by clearing the board for the first time ever, for the monthly disambiguation contest? Let's do it again in May! Robinson Nature Center Article

Thanks for all the cleanup on the articles... As of the acreage citation, take a look on the land plats pictured. On the HO-525 hsitorical document, it shows the land as 23.75 acres. It exactly matches the outline of the current property on the Howard County GIS. It is possible that the newspaper article is off when it mentioned 18 acres, or a portion of the property was "split off" that is not well documented. FlugKerl (talk)

Thanks for the details. I repeated a cite of the HO-636 article which describes it as "22 acres". The hand-drawn acreage on the map looks like it might be a corrected "21.75", with the 'one' written over some other number, combined to look also look like a 'two' or 'three'. —ADavidB 06:32, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Help with Reince Priebus

Hi ADavidB, I came across your name on the Reince Priebus article's Talk page and wonder if you would have a bit of time to help with some corrections and proposed additions for that article. The largest correction that I'm looking for help with is correcting Priebus's name, which the article currently gives as "Reinhold Reince Priebus" but should be "Reinhold Richard Priebus" (since Reince is a nickname). I'd also like to clarify his parents' names and occupations. In addition, I do have some new material to suggest to expand the information on his education and career.

I'd like to be clear that I do have a financial conflict of interest with this article, since I'm working for RNC to offer these suggestions, so I won't make any direct edits to the article. The corrections and proposed additions are outlined on the article's Talk page here. Arundel High School edits

Hi there, I've been noticing some of your edits on Arundel High School. Some have been very helpful, such as the Wildcat Hour and Notable Graduates section. However, the one about the "Violence" does not really belong there. The reason is because "Violence" would refer to violence being a usual occurrence. There have been several schools with similar incidents, but over time, the topic of the incident becomes less important, such as the former Broadneck High School "pit" incidents, and the student that was beaten at South River High School and had to be taken to the hospital for immediate emergency care. The incident was not the first of its kind, it did not cause any controversy, so therefore it is not noteworthy. It was just a fight that got out of hand. An example of something noteworthy would be if similar incidents occurred, or if they caused controversy, such as the Meade High School incidents in the "Past Problems" section. Again, I thank you for your contributions, and want to let you know of some certain things.

I believe in neutrality and continue to disagree with your reasoning for omitting any notice of the incident wherein 8 students were arrested only weeks ago. This news was significant enough to be covered in both Washington and Baltimore, as evidenced by the provided source citations. If you have reliable sources (e.g. not Arundel staff, students, or parents) who support your belief that it was minor, then that info could be included as well. The sentence was in the Wildcat Hour section; it doesn't have to be in its own section, but you removed it from where it was. Perhaps it would better be placed at the end of the Students section before Best Buddies. It's simply too recent for removal. —ADavidB 01:49, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Yes, LOCAL news covered the incident, just like LOCAL news covered the Broadneck and South River incidents. That happens. However there is such thing as "old news," and that's what this incident will be in a few months, so there is no need for it being on the wiki page. Just two school years ago, Annapolis High School had a very similar incident, yet it's not on their wiki page, nor does it affect the school at all today. My new SAI competition article

As you saw, I've just launched my new article on the Sweet Adelines International competition - and sub-articles for the detailed competition results for the 2010s in both choruses and quartets. As you can imagine, it's been a HUGE effort to make this article :-) As the person who has created the most articles in this field I thought I'd drop you a line to say hi, and ask if you'd like to help me start making the earlier decades' articles? I hope you don't mind but I've now redirected the List of quartet winners article that you created to my new one as they cover the same content. If you'd like I can give you a rundown of how to use the template I've had built to handle displaying the scores for each year's comps - Template:Sweet Adelines International Competition year table row (if the documentation isn't clear). WP:NAVBOX

I read the thread, and I'm fully in agreement with it, as I understand it is refers to navigational links. The link in question is an external reference, a concept which is fully supported by Wikipedia. If you're going to insist on such a literal and out-of-context interpretation of the statement in the (unofficial) guidance from WP:NAV, you had better censor out the stat_ref parameter setting from all instances of Template:Largest cities! That would be in error, in my opinion, as there would be no source citation for verification. —ADavidB 18:05, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Navboxes across wikipedia aren't sourced. They are for internal wikipedia links to common articles. Articles have the sources. Go to the talk page for NAVBOX and raise this subject as I said in my last edit summary....William 18:28, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
To the contrary, Navboxes that include Template:Largest cities are sourced across Wikipedia, via the stat_ref parameter I've identified here. Some example articles: Algeria, Andorra, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, Benin, Demographics of Canada, China, Chile ...; there are hundreds of them. —ADavidB 03:04, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
