License tagging for File:N. F. Varghese.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:N. F. Varghese.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:07, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Creating film articles

[edit]

Hello Anishviswa! Thank you for creating Kaaryasthan. I would like to point you to a manual of style for film articles to see how to properly format certain issues in articles. For example, articles should not be using flags in the infobox and the language of the film should not be linked (as it gets linked automatically by the template. Again, thank you for your contributions! BOVINEBOY2008 13:57, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dubbed films

[edit]

Hey Anishvishwa,

actually no, dubbed films don't have wikipedia articles. In the case of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009 film), it clearly says it's a "2009 Swedish crime thriller", while in the infobox it says "Swedish (Original)" and "English (Dubbed)", but there is not a seperate article for the dubbed English version. And if you are referring to this, this is not a page for a dubbed version of the Swedish film, this is a page for an original English remake with different director, cast and crew. Pages for dubbed versions are always redirected!

That Priyadarshan film (and just because he is a Malayali, it doesn't mean automatically that he makes only Malayalam films, Laysa Laysa and Kanchivaram were also his films and they were Tamil films!), I believe was supposed to be a Bilingual, but since Tamil version released first, in fact 7 years before the Malayalam version, it is considered the Original. I don't know why it was delayed and what really happened, I don't whether the Malayalam version has differences in its storyline and/or cast and can't find proper sources. Since I myself am quite unsure, I feel we should keep both the articles and consider both as original versions then. Only Priyadarshan will know the truth. Johannes003 (talk) 18:24, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Guys, I think it was a Malayalam film - the film was shot in Kerala and boards which appear throughout the film are all in Malayalam. However, the tamil version did release before - by seven years - and probably gained more recognition. So yeah, wise choice to keep both. This case should be a one off. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Prithviraj (film actor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.

Cocktail

[edit]

I haven't watched the original film but read in many articles that Cocktail was a rip-off from that. But I don't think this is mentioned in the film credits. Even if its a direct adaptation, a movie can be called a remake only if its officially announced and the original writers are credited. In case of Cocktail, its apparent plagiarism. So I think the word "adaptation" or "inspiration" is enough. -- Arfaz (talk) 16:15, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notification. I will redirect the page to Dreamz. Many sources like IMDB and OneIndia spell the name as "Dreams". So I think a redirect is necessary. -- Arfaz (talk) 18:20, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is also confusion whether her real name is mayuri or mayoori because her facebook account has name mayoori kango.

Help on Sortable table

I made the Filmography table in article Kunchacko Boban sortable. But when I try to sort it based on role or Director, the whole table is getting jumbled. Please help me with this issue and fix the problem.
Anish Viswa 09:15, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

From Help:Table#Sorting, Do not divide a table into sections by subheaders spanning several rows. Instead, an extra column can be made showing the content of these headers on each row, in a short form. So I think you will have to show the year separately in every row, rather than grouping the years with "rowspan". -- John of Reading (talk) 10:35, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Obscure

[edit]

Hi

I used obscure as it is the 9th in numbers of speakers according to this Indian_languages#Official_languages. If it were the top 5, I would not have called it obscure.

It seems to me that you have come to my page in anger and given me a little "telling off". Let me give you the definition of obscure so that you can perhaps better understand what the word actually means, rather than what you think it does.

Obscure - 3: relatively unknown: as a  : remote, secluded <an obscure village> b  : not prominent or famous <an obscure poet> [2] Many of the English speaking world, and in fact many of the rest of the world, will probably not have heard of it.

Please do not assume that I am ignorant or stupid. I did check first to find out how many people use it. I also took into account the fact that, of those supposed 33 million, they may speak Hindi or other languages as their first language.

Chaosdruid (talk) 01:17, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Making your complaint? Lol, you have nothing to complain about.
If you cannot understand that it is obscure because it is the 9th and no one else has heard of it, then I cannot help you. Most people have heard of "Hindu" (or Hindi), "Bengali" or "Sanskrit" so they are not obscure.
Do not bother to contact me again if you cannot swallow your pride and admit that you thought I was saying something bad when I was not. Chaosdruid (talk) 08:43, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mix up between Dharma Shasta and Lord Ayyappa

[edit]

I understand that this is only a belief held by a section of the public and is a point of view that can be represented in the article. I make this claim based on this article. Since there is no article on Wikipedia page on Dharma Sastha and since there seems to widespread and interchangeable use between the two names, do you not think that keeping sentences in the article that you deleted make sense? Prad2609 (talk) 06:37, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also see interchangeable reference to Lord Ayyappa and Dharma Sastha as far back as 1969, here for example. I also see examples of your POV as seen here in 1984. Prad2609 (talk) 06:45, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you refer to Sastha when you say Dharma Sastha? I had provided references for every information that I have put on the page and which you changed. I had referenced Constance Jones' Encyclopedia of Hinduism, which you have removed to make the Buddhism claim. I put them there only because the article is to be written with WP:NPOV. All points of view must be included. There will be several interpretations of why a certain God is called in a certain way or worshipped in a certain way. The page is not to reflect our own interpretations but all interpretations. Prad2609 (talk) 17:11, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help me - Serial No: column

In the Malayalam films of 2011 article, please help me put a serial number (Sl. No:) column in the extreme left of the table listing the films released in the year. I've done some work with tables, but I don't see immediately how to do this one. (I want to learn how to work with rowspan, but I haven't yet.) I see that no one has answered the question yet. There are some editors who hang out at the Wikipedia:Help desk who are knowledgeable about tables, and may not be monitoring the helpme requests. I suggest you try there. If that fails, Village pump is where the real techies hang out, and I've seen some tricky table questions answered there.--SPhilbrickT 12:25, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Release dates

[edit]

Hi Anishviswa. I'm curious, what source do you use for release dates of various Indian films? I am still quite unfamiliar with sources from that part of the world. I usually do okay with Bollywood/Hindi-language films, but otherwise (like Malayalam or Kannada-language films) I can't really find good content. I would appreciate the insight. BOVINEBOY2008 19:59, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I update release dates of only Malayalam films. Being in Kerala, I have direct information when a film is released. For reference purpose, we use news papers, Nowrunning.com, OneIndia.com, Indiaglitz, Kottaka, ForumKeralam etc. Usually Nowrunning covers all south Indian language films (Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu).

Kochi

[edit]

Dear Anish,

Please see Amma website before blind revert. From Angamaly to Maradu also in Kochi UA. Check census.gov.in

It seems that this user Bijuts is a constant POV pusher for Kochi. See his contributions. Now he is editing all possible pages to add the word "Kochi" in it. He even edited places very far from Kochi to push his POV.
Eg: He edited Koovappady which is very far from Kochi(even 10kms from Perumbavoor) --Vythiri (talk) 08:55, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My opinion is adding residence to the article makes no sense and no value-addition to the article. Also, the residences of celebrities often changes from time to time. For eg; Mohanlal own houses in Ooty, Chennai, Dubai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram etc. He may shift his residence frequently. Mammootty was in Chennai, and recently moved to Kochi and still owns the Chennai house. So, adding their place of residence makes no sense. --Vythiri (talk) 09:03, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have a request to you to review the article Santhosh Pandit (Actor). The page creation for this person seems to be under heavy recommendation for deletion from some users. As Wikipedia prime objective is to provide information and the Santhosh Pandit is one of the most searched people in internet in the south Indian web domain, i believe his page has the qualification to remain in Wikipedia. Kindly volunteer the review in your Wikipedian friend circle

Wikimedia Stories Project

[edit]

Aloha!

My name is Victor Grigas, I’m a storyteller at the Wikimedia Foundation working on collecting stories of Indian Wikipedians for the 2011 fundraiser.

I found your name on this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikipedians_in_Bangalore

I’ll be traveling to India from the 12th -20th of November to conduct face to face interviews with Indian Wikipedians. I’ll be in Bangalore from November 12-15 and in Mumbai for WikiConference India from November 17 - 20.

If you are interested, and would like to schedule an interview with me, please mark your time and place of interview on this page: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2011/Indiastorytelling or send me an email (vgrigas@wikimedia.org) with any questions or concerns you may have.

If you feel that you’d like to talk to me, but wont be able to make it to either of these locations and would like to schedule a Skype or Telephone interview, please email me at vgrigas@wikimedia.org

Cheers, Victor

PS If you know of anyone with whom I should speak please let me know :)

Adaminte Makan Abu

[edit]

How can that be an irrelevant mentioning? See this excerpt from the following link.

For all the seemingly rustic setting it’s a modern take on Muslim life: storekeepers doubting how Abu could possibly afford to go to Mecca joke he must have received a cheque from Osama Bin Laden.

This review also makes a specific mention to that subplot. So how can you say its irrelevant? My intention was not ill but I think yours is, that is to degrade this beautiful picture.

Also why are you continuosly removing the film's English title from the infobox especially when the page itself is soon gonna be moved to the title "Abu, Son of Adam" per naming conventions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DdraconiandevilL (talkcontribs) 07:51, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

These reviews are based on the very recent film festival screening of the movie. So I don't think they have removed that particular mentioning from the movie. It may not be there in the DVD, but thats not a reason to remove it from the plot. DVD and TV prints use to cut many major portions of the movies (even songs in some cases).

Also, I have requested a page move in the article talk page.DdraconiandevilL (talk) 08:09, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Premavahini Sai Temple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a hoax, but not verifiably notable either.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. India national football team

[edit]

Hey Anish, thank you for finding the piece of vandalism on the India national football team page. I have restored it to the right info. Thank you again. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 04:01, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request you to kindly read and understand basic wikipedia guidelines before contributing to it. WP:NFF clearly states that "Films that have not been confirmed by reliable sources to have commenced principal photography should not have their own articles". This movie will start principal photography only in Feb 2012. So Iam redirecting the page to Randamoozham. DdraconiandevilL (talk) 09:27, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
