1999/2000

Missy Elliott and Beyonce recorded a song titled Crazy Feelings, which was released on Missy's album in 1999. The Amil collaboration, I Got That, was released in her album in 2000. • Thank you for your message. I do appreciate your edits to the article, and apologies for reverting them without looking into them further. Upon further reflection, I do understand your concerns about this. From my research the timeline of when Beyoncé and Jay-Z first met is not 100% clear and there are reports that they did first meet years earlier. While the biography claims this, I can understand needing more of a consensus and more coverage to fully support this claim. For those reasonings, I have reverted the article back to your edit as I do not want the article to spread misinformation in any way. Thank you again for your help and apologies again for the revert. No problem, I think the Carters keep the timeline publicly murky on purpose, due to their age difference and the fact that one of them would've been a minor at the time. Jay's initial statement that they met at the beginning of her celebrity with Destiny's Child is the one supported by a photo that appeared in Vibe magazine back in the spring of 1998. But Bey knows it's better for them to have met when she was considered a legal adult, lol. And there's no need to apologize for checking my sarcasm. • Thank you for the conversation. I actually really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I hope we can work together sometime in the future. I agree with you that it is not a great look at all, especially when combined with the discussions around Jay-Z and Foxy Brown. I was honestly unaware of the age difference and Beyoncé being underage. That is actually quite disconcerting and I believe it is something worthy of looking into further. I wasn't going to mention THAT, but yeah. I think it's pretty much accepted that those discussions hold truth. But it's about what you can prove, a matter of common sense (what is blatantly obvious) vs public denial. He'll never admit it or face consequence bc he wasn't stupid enough to marry her while she was underage, like a certain collaborator (and that reckoning took decades). Countless inappropriate "relationships" in music, from Elvis & Cilla to whatever's up w/ Dr*ke & M*llie, get swept under a rug, denied, addressed comedically, or forgotten about altogether as time goes on. W*nya Morris joked w/ Charlem*gne about traveling w/ teenage Br*ndy, so they could...be intimate in accordance w/ Age of Consent. Then, in the face of "Surviving", he put out a bs claim she wasn't underaged and blogs went 'Well, he said it's false!' She was in her 30s, getting emotional on VH1, describing their 2 yr "relationship" which began when she toured w/ his group at 15 and ended bc he "fell in love with someone else" (after finally realizing he should date a grown woman, enter Ad*na Howard & inspo for Never say Never). 2600:1702:2A40:3E40:DD81:2EAA:8E4A:13D5 (talk) 17:56, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

• All of these relationships are very disconcerting to say the least. I am curious on how the upcoming Elvis film will handle his relationship with Priscilla because it was very clearly inappropriate. I was unaware of the Brandy situation and it is disheartening to hear about it. In a somewhat related discussion, I was always disappointed when artists continued to work with R. Kelly like Fantasia with "Sleeping with the One I Love" or Jennifer Hudson with "Where You At" and "It's Your World" even when the allegations against him were very well-known. I probably won't watch the new Elvis tbh, I feel like I know enough of his story already, but I'll definitely read reviews to see how that part gets addressed in the current climate. • I am enjoying this discussion too. It is always great to meet new people on Wikipedia. This discussion is taking place on my talk page so it is 100% fine to talk about other things. The only time that this would be an issue is if it was on an article talk page or something like that. I doubt I will see the Elvis movie either, even though I am a big fan of the director (Baz Luhrmann). I would imagine that it is something the film would have to address, but I would not be totally surprised if they tried to minimize it as much as possible. Feel free to message me anytime! No Panties and TFA

I saw somewhere a comment, possibly by you, opining that "No Panties" may be a little too racy for the main page. In November I scheduled "Fuck the Millennium" as a TFA, fifteen years after its promotion to FA. If there was a peep of disquiet over this it didn't get passed on to me. Thank you for being smart enough to figure out that those spaces were intentional! I think it depends who taught you typing whether you like one or two spaces at the end of each sentence; I've always used two, and it's a reflex now -- I'm much too old to change. Natina Reed

This is probably stupid, but I wanted to run this by you and let your decide. In Natina Reed's article, it's stated that some of her lines are incorrectly attributed to Gabrielle Union. The article itself states that one of this lines is "Let's beat these Buffys down" (iconic). But in the movie itself, the line is actually "Can we just beat these Buffys down?". Do you think it should be changed to what the actual line is, keep it the same but add a note about what the original line is, or leave it as is since that's what the article states (which also implies that the line itself is more recognizable in it's incorrect format; similarly to how people say "Luke, I am your father", despite the actual line being "No, I am your father")? --PanagiotisZois (talk) 16:46, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

The Buffy quote was frequently repeated in the coverage on Reed's role in Bring It On (at least the correct version) so I would say that the correct version should be in the article. I think this is different than the Star Wars example as that one has been more widely popularized. I have been thinking about rewriting the Natina Reed article, but I just do not have the time for it right now. Feel free to ask me anything by the way. You can feel free to change the quote in article, or I would be more than happy to do so later today when I have the time. I hope you are doing well and staying safe!
