April 2014[edit]

Hello Arebalig, and welcome to Wikipedia. One of your additions to Carles, Iloilo has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page.

I've removed what was copied directly from http://thedailyguardian.net/index.php/local-news/39934-ayala-to-bankroll-sicogon-project. You need to remove anything else you've copied directly from other sources. Thank you.  —SMALLJIM  12:35, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted the article to the version before your first copyright violation. You're welcome to edit the article, but you must do so in your own words. See WP:COPYVIO.  —SMALLJIM  14:28, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for January 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Casimiro Andrada, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Carles. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Alaska of the Philippines[edit]

Alaska of The Philippines

Carles, Iloilo in the Philippines deserve to be called as the Alaska of the Philippines. Alaska means the rich fishing ground in the United States. Carles in the Philippines also have impressive marine resources it has a bountiful marine resources. The reason for this is that Carles lies in the Visayan Sea triangle , an imaginary triangle extending from the provinces of Iloilo, Negros , Cebu , Samar , and Masbate . This triangle is a part of the "Sulu-Sulaweisi Triangle" of the Sulu Sea and neighboring Indonesia where a large concentration of marine organisms coupled with climate conditions support a massive marine ecosystem . Various commercial species are harvested along Carles ' waters, namely mackerel, barracuda , sardines , shad ,pompano , grouper , squid , cuttlefish , shrimp , prawns , shells , seaweed and others. Estancia, Iloilo also claim the Title as the Alaska of the Philippines. it is a municipality adjacent to Carles' water territory. It has only two islands and a limited water territory adjacent to its town. even though its water territory is limited it's town is still adjacent and much nearer to Carles' water territory compared to Carles town proper. because of Estancia's location it becames popular as the Alaska of the Philippines where all catch fish brought it their, as it is much nearer compared to Carles town. Carles is the true Alaska of The Philippines, because it has the rich fishing ground compared to Estancia which has only two islands and a small portion of water territory but adjacent to the water territory of another municipality mentioned therein. Estancia cannot be said as the rich fishing ground firstly because all catch fish are not from Estancia but from the waters of Carles, therefore Carles has the right to be called as the True Alaska of the Philippines for it is the true Fishing ground and not Estancia, Estancia is only a market place and not a fishing ground thus it cannot be called Alaska.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Alaska of the Philippines, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.mygola.com/estancia-d1009562/funeral-home.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Alaska of the Philippines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.mygola.com/estancia-d1009562/funeral-home. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. A tag has been placed on Alaska of the Philippines, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

non-encyclopaedic topic, pure WP:OR, copyvio (G12) of the blog source that is its only reference, but some (unsupported) claim of significance so doesn't qualify as A11

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Arebalig. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Arch Baligala, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. WikiVirusC(talk) 15:44, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Arch Baligala requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation link notification for February 17[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Carles, Iloilo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Davao (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Carles, Iloilo[edit]

Hello. As per the notes from other contributors above, you really should read the relevant guidelines on Copyright violations and uploading work/content created by others.

In any event, even if I ignore the overt copyvio issues with the content you continue to add to the "Carles, Iloilo" article (much of which seems to be copy/pasted directly from Wikitravel and other sources), the content itself is still inappropriate to this project. Specifically:

  1. Wikipedia is not a guidebook - Wikitravel and Wikivoyage have their place. Wikipedia does not have the same goal.
  2. Wikipedia is not the place for unattributed opinion and editorial - Uncited and unattributed opinions, as evidenced in phrases like "with its austere beauty, mythical and enigmatic, one will surely have an enjoyable a sojourn", are entirely inappropriate to this project.
  3. Wikipedia is not the place for promotion and advertising - Unashamed advertising, as seen in phrases like "From batteries to televisions they have it at {a shop I am promoting}", is entirely at odds with the relevant SPAM and ADVERT guidelines.

In short, please stop adding content which is not in keeping with the core goals of this project. Continually ignoring the project guidelines and norms will result in a block. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 12:55, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. If you do not stop adding copyvio and NPOV material to that article, or at the very least engage here or on the article talk page, then I will be seeking a block on WP:IDHT and WP:COPYVIO grounds. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 15:37, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Are you Carlesinian or not? because i am carlesinian and want to spread the information about our hometown my great great grand father is one of the pillar of this town and wanted to continue its legacy that someday some carlesinos will remember and informed about their hometown.

Those photos uploaded belongs to me captured by our sony camera.

I also put some reference to my source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arebalig (talkcontribs)

Hello. Thank you for your note.
RE: Content - Given that you did not respond to my previous note on the article content, I opened a thread on the related article talk page. For any continued discussion on article content, I would recommend that we use that thread/page.
RE: Contributions - On the questions/points you raise (not related to content), I would note that:
  • No - I not Carlesinian. However, I am unclear on why you feel the need to ask. Wikipedia does not give more (or less) weight to contributions from editors - on the basis of where they are from. A policy of that type would likely be inappropriate. Edits are considered on the basis what was added - not who added it.
  • Great - That you want to improve the information about your hometown is fantastic. Please however try to do it within the guidelines expected by this project. Your personal goals do not supercede the goals of this project.
  • Fine - I am glad you are trying to add references. However, please be clear that adding a reference isn't the same as attributing opinions. Nor does it absolve us of our obligations in respect of copyright. Attribution and permission are not the same thing.
Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 16:29, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
