you've made tons of contributions here, how long did it take to make all those edits ?[edit]

i'm interested in making a bigger contribution but not sure where to start. because i don't really have any priveledges (like administrator) it's almost like taking a risk to make an edit because most pages are almost totally controlled by someone with priveledges. do you think it's easier to find something to create a whole new article on or edit already existing ones by finding great references ? any advice would be appreciated.Grmike (talk) 15:01, 6 February 2010 (UTC)grmike[reply]

I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. You are being notified as you have made a number of contributions to the article. I have found some concerns which you can see at Talk:United Kingdom national football team/GA1. I have placed the article on hold whilst these are fixed. Thanks. Great Britain at the Olympics[edit]

Please take a look at the discussion at Talk:Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Olympics#Requested move and provide some reasoning for your edits on the above article rather than simply reverting. Thanks Basement12 (T.C) 21:37, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Daniel Ormelius has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about footballer who hasn't played in a fully-pro league and which fails the general notability guideline.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jogurney (talk) 21:44, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Newspaper of record[edit]

Hello. Just to let you know, I reverted your deletion of the Guardian from the list of examples in this article (obviously, I didn't touch your adding of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung to the list, as it was a welcome sourced addition).

As you may know, this article used to be a WP:OR mess, with editors adding and deleting examples on the list based on their own subjective opinions. So you can understand that I am a little leery of anyone deleting (or adding) any of the entries without a source and/or consensus. While I have no reason to doubt your assertion that the Guardian is not widely considered a newspaper of record (I assume your knowldege of the U.K. newspaper industry is way better than mine), an editor did suggest the entry on the talk page and provided an arguably reliable source for the proposition. While the source for the Telegraph and Times makes no reference to the Guardian, as you noted, I'm not sure that the BBC article purports to be a comprehensive analysis of what constitutes a newspaper of record in the U.K.

My advice is to raise the issue on the talk page, give it a week or two (I doubt anyone would express any opposition to the deletion), and then delete the entry. That way there is at least consensus for the deletion.

I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to avoid the bad old days when entries were routinely added and deleted without any back-up, and unless we try to be strict about this chart, it becomes difficult later on to resist less scrupulous editors who then want to delete entries based on their own personal and political whims. While I strongly suspect that your deletion was entirely legitimate, and I'd be inclined to support it on the talk page, I'm just trying to avoid problems down the road. Hope you understand, and feel free to leave me a message if you have any concerns. Regards, --Skeezix1000 (talk) 20:44, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

You had removed my edits for no reason and mentioned in the edit note "Expand introduction to reflect range of factors". Well you cannot add a range of factors by removing existing ones. I have reinstated my edits and those made by Dkeesey. All details are fully supported by footnotes and are well excepted reasons in contrast to someone's opinion.
If you have any issue with my changes please do not indulge in edit wars and talk to me here.

I had cited valid sources from Govt. investigation and reliable news sources. You cannot revert them just because you have a different point of view. Also, some of your points are highly biased and many other without any citation. E.g. there was no drought, which you give as very first reason for crisis. Please discuss here and do not start edit war.

Really awkward English[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for having an eye on Free Democratic Party (Germany). However, you claimed in your edit summary to "amend really awkward English", when you really also changed the content. For the record: The FDP is not the third-largest party in Germany - it is its parliamentary group/faction in the Bundestag that is the third biggest. The article must therefore either limit itself to describing the size of the faction in the Bundestag or say it is the fifth-largest party in Germany (After CDU; SPD, CSU and The Left). Janfrie1988 (talk) 21:32, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I thought that it did distinguish that. "[I]t is the third-largest party in the Bundestag" states that the metric is the size of the faction. I have no issue with it saying that it has the third largest faction in the Bundestag (as now), but I hope you do see that the previous intro was a bit clumsy. Bastin 21:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:11, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

June 2010[edit]

Considering you had previously been involved in a discussion on the Talkpage, your removal of the capitals of what you describe as "home nations" from the article List of national capitals was unnecessarily tendentious. Please do not remove them again without first obtaining consensus on the article's Talk page. Thank you. Daicaregos (talk) 10:48, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't tendentious, because it adheres to WP:NPOV. But thanks for your concern for preserving the NPOV that is so lacking in that article. Bastin 11:39, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on MCAP (company) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Mcmatter (talk|contrib) 18:11, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Luxembourg commune[edit]

I performed the initial steps by converting the backend of the template, and adding the min/max elevation ranks to the parent template. It appears as though the next step is to substitute it, but I personally would not be opposed to leaving it as a wrapper for {{Infobox commune}}, but substitution would work as well. It calls some other templates for the elevation, population, mayor, and area data, which allows for these data to be updated in a central location. Let me know if you have any comments. Thanks! Commonwealth of Nations[edit]

The name changed in 1949 to the "British Commonwealth" after the republics of India, Ceylon and Pakistan joined, though in some Asian countries, and in Australia, the old term Commonwealth of Nations may still be used. The name used now by the Secretariat is "the Commonwealth", and that is both the official name and the one used widely throughout the world. Documents use "the Commonwealth", unless originating from one of the Asian countries which may still use the former term of "Commonwealth of Nations". See [1] and [2]. SilkTork *YES! 23:38, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea where you got that idea - one of the two sources explicitly says that 'Commonwealth of Nations' is the current name! The name changed from the 'British Commonwealth' to the 'Commonwealth of Nations' in 1949. See London Declaration. The Commonwealth's other key constitutional document, the Singapore Declaration, also opens by calling it the Commonwealth of Nations. You may like to google 'Commonwealth of Nations' and see the plethora of reliable sources that attribute this name.
The Commonwealth Secretariat uses 'Commonwealth' as a brand, as you might understand; its own name is explicitly and solely 'The Commonwealth Secretariat', under the Commonwealth Secretariat Act 1966. It uses the brand well - that does not change that the full name is 'The Commonwealth of Nations'. Further, in the interest of disambiguating from other Commonwealths, Wikipedia has decided to use the full name where appropriate, including, but not limited to, all article names. Bastin 13:44, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Ah. I see I have misread the Evolution of Australian Foreign Policy source. I suppose that is because Commonwealth of Nations is such an uncommon term ([3] just under 300K Ghits) compared to "The Commonwealth" ([4] over 23 millions Ghits), that there is an astonishment in encountering the term. WP:COMMONNAME indicates we should be using the most common name - "Common usage in reliable sources is preferred to technically correct but rarer forms, whether the official name, the scientific name, the birth name, the original name or the trademarked name." If Commonwealth of Nations is some rarely used but "official" term then it would be appropriate to mention that, as in Big Ben and Venus de Milo. It would be good to get some other sources on the name and what is considered current usage. I have written to the Secretariat, and hopefully they will be able to give some guidance on the issue. Thanks for pointing out my misreading. SilkTork *YES! 17:36, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

London Wikimedia Fundraiser[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 18:05, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Regarding the import/export colouring[edit]

Hi there, Bastin.

I noticed that you changed the colour of the imports to green. That may be the right thing to do but I want to explain to you and get your opinion on why I styled it the way it was. In some statistical contexts, green is seen as good and red as bad. In Iceland we use a domestic currency instead of a global one. When imports exceed exports (trade deficit) more of the foreign currency supply is being used to finance the exhange of goods as opposed to when exports exceed imports (trade surplus), which rarely happens in Iceland, the foreign currency supply grows. When the foreign currency supply shrinks for one reason or another it tends to have a negative effect on the value of the domestic currency, annoying Icelanders greatly. Because it has a negative impact on the economy for a lot of reasons - imported necessities become more expensive, rise of inflation, greater economic reliance on other nations etc, and a lot of what is being imported might be considered by some as unnessecary foreign luxury goods that could just as well have been made within Iceland - I valued trade deficit as a bad thing and thus marked it red.

Lead on Gary Johnson[edit]

Greetings Bastin, Your point on the lead (not headline) on the gary johnson article is well taken. My real problem with that section is that the wording is not very encyclopedic (e.g. "fitness fanatic") and that much of it seems to be a repeat of material in the main article. Is there a way to maintain the intent without having so much duplication in the whole piece? That's what I was struggling with. The brief bit that I replaced it with referenced had links to the things that followed for the interested reader. Thoughts? (Of course I will watch here for any reply). TheNgeveld 14:06, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: José Manuel Coelho. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Other stuff exists" simply means that the other stuff is wrong. This has been discussed before, I believe at WP:BLPN. Template:Infobox person includes a "denomination" field, separate from the religion field. Template:Infobox Officeholder does not have such a field. This is because it was decided that a politician's denomination is not relevant to their notability. Yworo (talk) 23:23, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you'd like to read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS before quoting it. "When used correctly though, these comparisons are important as the encyclopedia should be consistent in the content that it provides or excludes." The fact that the exact same path is followed in most other articles creates a pretty strong rebuttable presumption that that is the path to be taken. Please point to a policy to rebut that presumption, rather than asking me to find it to support your position.
Whether they're relevant to politicians' notability is rather irrelevant; we don't purge Wikipedia of middle names, place of birth, number of children - and we even pander to trivia nuts by including signatures in the infobox! Nonetheless, for many office-holders, being Sunni/Shia, Haredi/Liberal, or Catholic/Presbyterian are such hugely important distinctions in many parts of the world - that importance being reflected by reference to their denomination in reliable sources - that to ban them from being mentioned, when reliable sources mention them, doesn't seem to sit right with Wikipedia policy. Bastin 23:39, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
The place to take this up is at Template talk:Infobox Officeholder. The solution is to get the denomination field added to the infobox if there is a consensus that it should be, not misuse the religion field. The place for details like denomination is in the text, where they can be contextualized, and not in the infobox or categories, etc. See also WP:BLPCAT which requires that religion and denomination be relevant to the subject's notability or be omitted. WP:BLPCAT specifically states that it also applies to Infoboxes on articles of living people. Yworo (talk) 23:43, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's not misused - his religion is described as Lutheran in a reliable source, so Wikipedia can do the same without worrying about whether it's suitable to call a denomination a religion. Furthermore, I've just searched through the talk page and can't find reference to the discussion that you said exists. If you don't cite established policy to support your position, it's frowned upon to remove referenced material.
On the last point, you seem to be quoting WP:NPF (the only time where content is limited by notability of the content). However, Gary Johnson was governor of a state for eight years; I'm pretty sure he doesn't fall under that category. For all other BLPs, the limitation is what reliable sources say - and CNN says "Religion: Lutheran". That seems pretty clear-cut to me. Bastin 23:56, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
No, I'm quoting WP:BLPCAT: "Categories regarding religious beliefs and sexual orientation should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief or orientation in question; and the subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to their notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources" and further "These principles apply equally to lists, navigation templates, and {{infobox}} statements (referring to living persons within any Wikipedia page) that are based on religious beliefs..." The definitions defining the use of the fields appear on Template:Infobox person: the religion field is for religion, the denomination field, which doesn't exist for Officeholders, is for denomination. Not everything should be in an infobox. There is nothing preventing a discussion of the denomination of the subject in the article, but the field name is self-descriptive and self-limiting. Yworo (talk) 00:24, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here's one discussion discussing the use of the religion field: there are others at other talk pages. I once specified Religion=Reform Judaism instead of religion=Judaism and was informed in no uncertain terms by members of the BLP team that the religion field was for religion and not denomination. Do feel free to start a discussion at WP:BLPN about it, but I've been participating on that noticeboard long enough to know what the answer will be. Yworo (talk) 00:37, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article José Manuel Coelho has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Hi, if you have some spare time, could you take a look here? Freedom (German political party) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) There's this pal, generally known for his will to persistently classify and re-classify parties [5] as per his gut feeling, now out there to remove the (self-?)identification of this new German party as conservative/liberal, as if noting this fact were harmful in some respect. The pal would a) [6]just revert
b) if this doesn't work out and sources are presented, he'd 1) remove sources 2) then proceed to claim (!) again that necessary sources are not out there! I'd be glad if you could offer a third opinion on how to proceed. Miacek and his crime-fighting dog (woof!) 08:43, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Conservative Party (UK). Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Please take it to the talk page --Snowded TALK 13:27, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Berlin state election infobox[edit]

Normally you would be right about the election when a party wins 1.8%. The rule I generally follow is any party that has any amount of seats going into the election should be listed in the infobox just like any party that wins any seats like the Pirate Party did. As far as the National Democratic Party is concerned, the reason why they're listed is to show the magnitude of the Free Democrats. Kingjeff (talk) 17:31, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Our party does not endorse fascism because fascism is anti capitalistic and anti free market. However, Augusto Pinochet and Francisco Franco were conservative liberals and national Catholics, they combined conservatism with capitalism that's why we praise them. JKM even has pictures of them in his office. We hate the left wing and socialism in any form (Adolf Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, EU and so on) and we praise people who stood or stand against these immoral values. We also like Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Ron Paul and of course "fathers" of our economic thought - Milton Friedman, Friedrich Hayek and Ludwig von Mises. After we'll win elections we want to dissolve the parliament and abolish democratic system which totally fails in our eyes. We are highly right wing: socially and economically. JKM said openly many times that he "wants democracy to disappear" [7] and also that he is "proud of civilization of the White man" [8], [9], he also used the "roman salute" publicly many times [10]. Do I have to find more sources? --74.65.227.150 (talk) 02:28, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Parliaments of Latvia and Lithuania[edit]

The practice here on Wikipedia is for the article name to say what country it is of. If you move back those two pages again, it will be considered vandalism. There is absolutely no reason why the articles shouldn't say "of _country_", and every reason why they should. Fry1989 eh? 19:02, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This comment is a little excessive on your part for a typical WP:BRD cycle. Your move's edit summary did not mention that it is the convention to add the country names to parliaments. Mind sharing a link to consensus on this, because I am curious myself. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 19:45, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Click on all the linked pages on List of legislatures by country. There is your consensus. Fry1989 eh? 20:45, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're clearly reading a different list to the one that you gave above. Of course it's Parliament of the United Kingdom and Congress of the United States - there's more than one Parliament and more than one Congress in the world. Thus, 'Parliament' or 'Congress' would be ambiguous. But if you look at Løgting, Althing, House of Elders, General Council of the Valleys, National People's Assembly, etc, etc, they do NOT add the name of the country. After all, if there's only one Folketing, why would you have to add 'of Denmark'? Same Saeima and Seimas (unless you can name another one...). There's no other one it could possibly be. Thus, your moves contradict the need for concision. Bastin 23:24, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
If you revert again, I will report you for vandalism. You have given no valid reasons why the article name can not or should not say "of _country_". Until you do, you must leave the articles alone. Fry1989 eh? 23:40, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There's only one Islamic Consultative Assembly, and only one States-General too, but they include the name, so your argument is facetious. Fry1989 eh? 23:47, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Umm, you made the first move. That means you're the one that must pause if another editor challenges your edit, per WP:BRD, as linked above. That is an invitation to begin a reasonable discussion, not an invitation to call far more experienced and committed editors 'vandals': a term you don't seem to have previously encountered in correct usage.
As for your above point, please do not use the above line of argument (and don't call the argument facetious - it wasn't; I believe you mean fallacious - which it wasn't). It is annoying to have to go to the page States-General myself to prove that you're wrong - the term has other uses, hence why it is States-General of the Netherlands. Furthermore, as you can see on Talk:Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iran) (note: previous moves were unilateral), nobody has yet challenged the two-month-old suggestion to move it back to plain 'Islamic Consultative Assembly'. Your exception seems to have proven the rule. Bastin 09:14, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Protected[edit]

Both Seimas and Saeima are now protected against further moves (the titles are as they happened to be when I stumbled upon them on my watchlist bloating with your page move warring -- it is not not any kind of endorsement of any kind of title). I suggest you battle this out in via proper WP:RM procedure. Renata (talk) 19:49, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Police commissioner elections - query[edit]

Morning

Thanks for doing the election boxes, that's a great help. We have a problem, though, the elections are not being carried out by First Past The Post, but I think AV (or STV?). The election box needs to be whichever one fits the alternative voting system and I don't know which template to choose! doktorb wordsdeeds 09:20, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure it's by Supplementary Vote: the same as used for English mayors and the Mayor of London. I had assumed that, once the results were in, we could slip in the same syntax used for Australian elections: {{Election box 2pp}} (eg Division of Sydney#Election results). If that doesn't work, then drat. Bastin 00:45, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

Hey Bastin

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:34, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Camden local elections[edit]

Thanks for your new template. Some observations:

  • I think the template is too small to justify the use of {{Navbox with collapsible groups}}, but have left the amended version as a model example. One of the disadvantages of {{Navbox with collapsible groups}} is that "autocollapse" will always collapse, as the software mistakenly thinks that the collapsible section is just another, separate, navbox.
  • Entries in navboxes shouldn't be redirects. You should either expand your redirects into new articles (the best solution) or pipe them to the relevant article.

Hi Bastin. A few years ago you discussed a section of the DUP entry. You commented that it still gave undue weight to the topics listed. That was in 2011, and nothing seems to have changed. Lacking a volunteer to add similar amounts on all policies I'd propose removing the sections on homosexuality and creationism, and putting the stuff about the Belfast agreement into history. The article Hilton Luxembourg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seemingly non notable hotel.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on MCAP (company) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 2019 US Banknote Contest[edit]

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Notice

The article List of towns in Luxembourg by population has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article serves no real purpose considering the parallel existence of this one. Not only does it also seem quite dusty (only a few edits since 2006, data is as old as Wikipedia itself) but in Luxembourg the concept of 'towns' is seldom used, the commune usually prevails

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
