I have a question for you, since your an administrator and all. Is deleting internal links that don't link anywhere and replacing them with regular text a good idea? Or is it just kinda stupid? Llamadog903 (talk) 22:42, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rudget![edit]

Dear Bibliomaniac15, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 15:21, 12 January 2008 (UTC) [reply]

Hello there! Question![edit]

Hi, I was wondering if there was a streamlined way to report a consistent vandalizer to admins? I've been following the person who vandalized the CoD4 board for a while, and people keep having to revert stuff back. Sincerest hi's and TYs! :) Compassghost (talk) 01:58, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for eavesdropping.
If he is currently active and has had sufficient warning, you can take it to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Cheers! - Revolving Bugbear 17:45, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Coaching[edit]

Yeah, I have coached Stormtracker94 and his RFA will begin on the 23rd. I've also given some pointers to King Lopez, but it'll be a while before he's ready, I think. Now I may be coaching Jauerback or we might just go ahead with the nomination. However, you were the inspiration for all this, not enough admins get involved in coaching. I may need your help if possible[edit]

Hello, I have been trying to find an admin coach that would take me under thier wing and teach me in the ways of an admin. I would like to move towards becoming and administrator at some point, but more than that, I would like to learn the ins and outs of wikipedia on a greater scale. You were suggested to me and I thought I would harrass you and see if you might be interested in having pity on a poor soul such as myself? I have currently been doing a lot of work on reverting vandalism. CBD gave me the rollback feature because he knew I did a lot of stuff to help in that area. I have been very active in that area here lately. I also have done some work on cleaning up the area of Male Porn Stars. I feel those areas are full of self promotion and are mainly edited by the subjects themselves. The edits to those areas are mainly self promotion and POV. So, those are the areas I am really interested in. Can you let me know if I would be a candidate for some help from you? Canyouhearmenow 00:32, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure I will submit myself to that as long as it doesn't hurt! I am very sensitive. LOL I have no problem with an edit review. I am pretty confident with my edits and certainly open for constructive suggestions on how I could improve. Let's do it! Canyouhearmenow 00:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok my new friend, I did as you asked and it can be found here [3]. I answered the questions to the best of my ability. Also, I hope that my edits under my former user name shows up under the new user name. That name was Junebug52. Thank you so much for helping me to approach this next step in my wikipedia birthing. Canyouhearmenow 02:35, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey bud, thanks for your review! I will do everything I can to work on those areas you pointed out. Very good advice. As far as the DYK, FA and GA articles. I have not had much experience in those areas. Do you have a suggestion as to where I should start? I have been rewriting those aweful porno articles which might I add is not an easy job because most of the editors are also the subjects and get very confrontational if you even think about moving anything! LOL I have also been working on creating articles for the Christian music wiky project with Absolom. He and I have really been doing a lot of work in those areas. I created some articles that were on notables such as the The Rambos and The Hoppers. There is the David L Cook article that I have put a lot of work into. I think that one is a great article and at some point I would like to move it to a Good Article review. I wonder if you could look at it and tell me what you think? Anyway, I am ready to get started on whatever I need to do if you could just give me a little direction as to where you think I should start. Thanks again. Canyouhearmenow 01:01, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Man, that was fast! You are goooood! LOL Canyouhearmenow 01:06, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for looking at the David L Cook article. I would put what the "L" stands for if it were not such a touchy issue for his management. The middle initials are the families trademarks. They never reveal what they are for. He is the great great grandson of David C. Cook of the famous Christian publishing company. even he does not tell what his middle initial is for. Now, as far as the {{cite web}}: Empty citation (help); can you take a moment and do one and let me see how that is done? Once I see it, I have a better idea of what it is for and how to do it. I would appreciate it if you have a moment to do that for me. Also, do you think it is a good enough article to submit for Good Article consideration? Canyouhearmenow 01:27, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good Evening! I wanted to ask you a question that may be simple on it's face, but it does have me questioning myself. I voiced in today on an WP:RfA discussion as I am aware of the nominee. I wanted to know what your thoughts are on an editor like myself getting involved in RfA discussions and votes. Is it looked upon as a good or bad thing. Again, that is not one of the areas that I am very familiar with but if you think it is a good thing then I will do more in that area. Canyouhearmenow 23:21, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the lead on the cite web shortcut. I did all the updates on the David L Cook article using that outlet. It does look a lot better! You may want to take a look at it and let me know what you think. I have also been doing a lot of vandalism patrolling. I think I am enjoying the RfA discussions. I have started looking at the nominees histories and chiming in on the voting. Maybe some of these will remember me when it is my turn and have pity on a poor soul. LOL What do you think should be a pressing thing for me to be involved with at this moment. I will be creating some new gospel music articles in the next few days. I will let you know when I have them up and running. Canyouhearmenow 21:11, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for you input, however, what does this mean for me? I have tried to cite this thing per this editors request. I notice this is a 16 year old editor. LOL I kinda feel a little inept. LOL Anyway, I thought that the heavy citing was a little on the much side, but who am I to refute this. So, do you think the article is up to par yet? Looking over some of the other GA articles that have passed, I do not see why this one cannot. It is just as well sourced and written in my own opinion. Your input? Canyouhearmenow 20:17, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. The reason I didn't put a lot of sourcing in the Early Life section is because I gave one source which happens to be a video that aired on the 700 Club in whic David himself gives all the story and explaination for everythign I wrote. It is not an easy thing to find other sources for this info because David and his publicist have restricted the release of this information. So do you not think that the link to the video would be sufficient for the sources needed? Canyouhearmenow 20:42, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I did it. Can you look at it and tell me what you think? Canyouhearmenow 21:02, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I moved info into the awards section. I think that should suffice for meeting the blank area issue. I want to thank you for all of your help! I will be glad to get this article out of the way so I can start on another one. I have put a lot of time in this bad boy! Canyouhearmenow 21:36, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning my friend! I wanted you to know that the David L Cook article should now be up to GA standards. the review editor came back and gave me just two more things that needed to be fixed and I did those this morning. You may want to take a look at it. I don't know if I should place it back in for GA reconsideration, or if this editor will just go ahead and move it to GA status? What do you think? Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!Canyouhearmenow 14:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Review[edit]

Hey bud, I wanted to touch base with you to let you know some of the things I have been doing. I have been partcipating in some GA discussions and reviews. I have even joined that group. I have written and contributed to some new articles and I have been constantly patrolling for blatant vandalism. I did recieve another edit review from another editor. Would you mind looking through my latest activities and let me know what you think? I am open to suggestions as to where I need to head from here. Thanks in advance. Canyouhearmenow 18:48, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reviewing. If you notice, I am a member of several projects and have been helping Absolom on many of the Gospel music articles for that wikiproject. I do enjoy that area. I also joined the GA wikiproject. So, I am really keeping busy in those areas. I would like to know what I need to do to get someone to review the David L Cook article. I entered it in the GA review several days ago. One editor contacted me to let me know that I missed a cite so I fixed it and have heard nothing else. I would like to get that reviewed. I have worked hard on that article! Canyouhearmenow 23:15, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for giving some input on the article. I contacted David's publicist and asked several question as to what was the "L" for. They were very assertive about only using the "L" as that was his trademark as well as the other Cook's before him. I did a history look on the family and it is true that going all the way back, all of the men have always used just their middle initials. When David is introduced to the stage, they introduce him by simply saying, "Would you please welcome David L. They do not even use Cook in the introduction. Image deletions[edit]

When you delete images, would you first remove them from articles? You deletions caused major problems in the John Michael Kohler Arts Center article, so I fixed it by returning the article to its state before the images were uploaded. The uploader had removed some good images to make room for these deleted images. The deleted images had been left as red links. Royalbroil 01:59, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for all of your help with the David L Cook article! It has now been moved to GAstatus. I am very proud of this one because it was one of the hardest to get done! Again, I want to thank you for all of your help. If I ever get to admin nomination or status, I would love to work along with you to make this a better place man! Biblomaniac, I want to stop for just a second and let you know something. First, please understand that I did not just randomly find you! I watched the things you did and how you dealt with people. I admired the way that you dealt with hard circumstances and felt you were fair and just in most instances. Second, I felt that I was much like you in the fact that I was here on this site because I feel I can lend something to it. Now, with that said, I also want you to know and understand that me asking you to coach me for becoming an admin in no way is a push for power on wikipedia! I want to be an administrator because I am a teacher. I am an entertainment historian who believes that the gift of knowledge and the ability to help others through their search for whatever it is they are looking for is our obligation in life. I want to be an admin because I feel that it is a respected position and others will come to me for help and it gives me a wider base to help them. I never want you to feel that I am hungry for power or glory. Just the ability to help on a respected level. Not that a regular editor is less respected. That is my goal here. Now, with that said, you have given me much homework. I can't believe you would bogg me down with so much homework! I am old and weary! But I will give it my all. Thanks friend! Canyouhearmenow 01:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Undecidable problem[edit]

Just a suggestion - one way to get fast opinions about articles like Undecidable problem is to ask at the math project, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics. We are pretty good about distinguishing original research from established results. The prod tag you added, while not unreasonable, may have been a discouragement to the article's author. In this case, the main issue seems to be the editor was new, didn't know that the topic was covered under another name, and didn't know to list a couple references at the bottom. — Carl (CBM · talk) 17:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And don't be put down by the "deletion" thing - it was just a misunderstanding, started by an editor who wasn't even logged in. — Carl (CBM · talk) 17:35, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm starting work on the Coelacanth article, but there's one thing that's bugging me about the article. I don't like how the taxonomy section is so listy. Should I keep it that way, should I make a table of some sort, or should I convert it to prose? hi[edit]

Can a cool admin help a guy out? I want to add one sentence to the world of Wikipedia. But I can't. The sentence is factual, provable, reliable (I chose the New York Times version.)

Fact: Circumcision is believed to decrease a man's risk of getting HIV Fact: Circmcision is believed to INCREASE a man's risk of getting herpes and chlamydia, and some think even other STD's.

The article on "circumcision" mentions the term HIV probably 100 times (I'm not joking) and mentions "herpes" or "chlamydia" not Once.

Can a cool admin stop two guys named Avraham and Jakew (the site's dictators) from deleting my ONE sentence I want to add? Thanks here's the New York Times article... http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?sec=health&res=9C07E4D91F3AF931A35757C0A961958260&fta=y

Hey biblio[edit]

What's happening? You wrote.. "The best way to go along with this is to discuss it in the talk page for circumcision. I checked your addition, and I think that you were reverted because you added it to the lead introduction. I think such a fact would go much better into a specific section like "HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases" or "Risks of circumcision."

Why do these guys get to put "Circumcision can reduce HIV" in the lead introduction??????? Really?? That is unfair! Why aren't you telling them to take all that stuff thats not directly about circumcision OFF the lead introduction? How come they get to put all that crap in the lead introduction about HIV but i can't put the ONE sentence down about herpes and chlamydia? Lead introduction? Read the article's circumcision lead introduction and tell me it's not filled with stuff just as important as what I am putting in. Thank you. I agree that all that stuff shouldn't be in the lead intro. So WHY IS all that BS about HIV in the lead intro? It should be under a different section (according to you ). Need some help here[edit]

I was going through my "What Links Here" and I saw that I had a link to some spam links here [6] and here [7]. I am not sure as to why I am reported here as I only reverted vandalism to those articles. I never edited them in order to push my own agenda. Can you explain this to me and should I remove myself from there? Canyouhearmenow 00:16, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just dont want anything bad against my name. I know that all I did was revery vandalism on those pages. I guess that puts you in that bots way. It does look like it was done by a bot. I guess I will not worry about it for now. I have been working on reviewing some of these editors for RFA's and have been chiming in on votes. I have also been doing some editing and reverting of vandalism using rollback. I answered your questions and posed some of my own. So when you get a chance, if you don't mind let me know what you think. Oh and thanks for everything and for being so patient with me! Canyouhearmenow 00:30, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GOT A QUESTION! Imagine that! Anyway, I created an article for Danny Funderburk & Mercy's Way. There is also an article for Danny Funderburk. I proposed that the two be merged as the article I wrote is a much better article in my opinion and he has never been a solo artist. I feel like they should be merged or the other article removed. What do you think and how can I get you to help me with this? Canyouhearmenow 22:59, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

General Question[edit]

Ok, I have been reviewing the IAR and several different examples. It is a bit to get used to, but I will get it. It's hard for me sometimes to throw caution to the wind and take a path not expected. I am a historian and all things have to go by strict guidelines. So, I am sure you can understand my hesitations to this one thing. Although, I can see where it's importance is notable to the genre. I guess my question to you right at this moment is, "With all the things we have been doing and going through, where do you think I sit as far as how the community would look at me?" Do you think they would vote me down for lack of experience or lack of knowledge? These are things that I want to address. I am an individual who deals with the situations in a wide screen view. So, I like to get the overall scope of things. I hope that makes sense to you? LOL Just asking your opinion. Canyouhearmenow 02:05, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok here is my next question. If you look here [10], I reverted an edit to the disambiguation page for Study. The editor has listed the disambiguation here and now it has a red link. I was always under the understanding that to be listed on said page, it still has to have a commonality to the disambiguation and not just random thought or non sense. Here the editor has it listed as "Study (group), an excuse to eat and catch up with friends." I tried to make the point to the editor that the disambiguation has to link to a real item or a real page or article. The editor questioned me in saying that they had the edit there and it had never been challenged in the past. Am I wrong to remove that edit? I have always thought the rule was as follows. "Disambiguation in Wikipedia is the process of resolving conflicts in article titles that occur when a single term can be associated with more than one topic, making that term likely to be the natural choice of title for more than one article. In other words, disambiguations are paths leading to the different article pages that could use essentially the same term as their title." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Canyouhearmenow (talkcontribs) 02:30, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching match[edit]

Hi Bibliomaniac15, my name is Belinrahs and I have been told you will be coaching me to be an admin. I want to be an admin so that I may do more to help minimize vandalism and do more to make this open encyclopedia project going, and get better. I still have much to learn, and I hope that by working with you, I may, after a reasonable amount of time, become an Administrator. Thank you very much :) --Belinrahs (talk) 13:52, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have read through quite a few policies already, before your last message, and I learned more about speedy deletion. I have been patrolling new pages and I am learning a lot! I also just now read more policy on user blocking, page deletion/protection, and of course vandalism. Through my reading, however, I learned that users can earn "rollback" status. What is this and how does one earn and use it? --Belinrahs (talk) 23:55, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Ah yes, I use Twinkle. I find it an excellent tool in fighting vandalism, putting maintenance tags on articles, and speedy deletes. Anyways -- about admin coaching, I am completely unsure about where we start and what we do... you seem to have experience in this, so where do we start? --Belinrahs (talk) 00:03, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MfD Closing[edit]

Hey, thanks for closing some MfDs recently. Just a note, the {{mfd top}} goes above the header on mfd's, unlike TfDs and some of the others. It doesn't make a huge difference because the pages are transcluded but just to keep them all the same. You can see the example at Wikipedia:Deletion_process#Miscellany_for_Deletion_page. We need closers badly, so don't take this as critical - just letting you know, I'll tweak them when I move them to the closed section. Thanks again for taking care of closings.--Doug.(talk contribs) 20:38, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
