Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Bijun yang, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Content marketing have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:15, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Blocked for sockpuppetry
[edit]This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing for sock puppetry per evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bijun yang. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but using them for illegitimate reasons is not, and that any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted. If you believe that this block was in error, and you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here Sorry, I will try to do my Wikipedia better, and as a new user, I may have edited some content not so good. I am learning to how to do it better. Please do not block my account.
For the sockpuppetry problem, I am a student, and we have a class work this year to learn to make some contribution to Wikipedia. My classmate may do the same part, I am bijun yang, and another account belongs to my classmate. Its seems like more than one classmate has tried to edit the same page, since we are all in the university and our IP address is very close or maybe the same. Sorry for the inconvenient this time. I tried my first edit on content marketing and email marketing, and its seems what I write were too similar to the source I cited. I realised that and tried the second to do the edit and make the sentence without the problem. But this time the sentence were not the encyclopedia, so I modified my writing and try to make them better. I know as a new user I may do not so good, but I am trying to make them better and learning how to write Wikipedia these days. I want to my contribution for Wikipedia. I am a student in marketing and we have a lecture this term to learn how to contribute to Wikipedia, I know Maverickranger, he is my classmate and he also was blocked maybe because our IP is very close. We are learning marketing so we may want same edit topic and he spend much time on this. For the other user Fakhruddin_Patanwalla, sorry I don't know who he/she is, maybe also my classmate, because we are a big class and I cannot know everyone. This is all of our situation, sorry for confused you. And Victuallers is someone who helps us to know how to use Wikipedia in lecture, and I just email him for help. Sorry maybe I should try to solve the problem on this page first since I was not very familiar with this system, so I emailed Victuallers first for help. Very sorry for both of you two, Victuallers and Bbb23. Please do not block our account, and they are very important for us. I think through learn we can contribute to Wikipedia. ~~~~}} below. Unblocked
[edit]I have unblocked you. Do take care of advice given above. Make sure its relevant and it is never a "copy and paste" and you always supply a reference. Good luck Victuallers (talk) 15:40, 5 May 2017 (UTC) ... Oh dear it appears that you may get re-blocked. This is not your mistake. Victuallers (talk) 16:45, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
This user is a NEW USER
[edit]Maverickranger is new. They are a university student who is trying to contribute to Wikipedia. They should be developing new content in their sandbox which is an addition to an article in their own words and with references. This user is not a sock puppet. I am willing to assist if this user needs help. Victuallers (talk) 09:54, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
- Bijun yang, I have unblocked you. Please be careful when you edit at Wikipedia. Unfortunately, Wikipedia has all sorts of rules that often make it difficult for a new editor. If you're unsure about something or have problems, contact Victuallers. If they aren't around, one place you can go is the WP:Help Desk and post a message there. The editors who patrol that forum are often very helpful to new users. Good luck with your class project.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:03, 6 May 2017 (UTC) Dear Bbb23, Thanks a lot for your help!
