Jabberjaw (Los Angeles) - some tips[edit]
Hi Bipandboppop. I did some basic tweaking of your article. Some tips for the future:
- Never remove a speedy deletion tag from an article you created, even if you have remedied the problem for which it was tagged for deletion. If you want to contest the deletion, you need to say so and why at the article's talk page.
- The copyvio/close paraphrasing has now been remedied, but you need to be especially careful about that in future. It's actually OK to copy from Weezerpedia because it has a GNU Free Documentation License, but it's best to avoid copying verbatim even in those circumstances. And if you do copy from an appropriately licensed source, you still need to attribute the material to that source.
- For future articles, I suggest you work on them in your user space, and get them to a point where they are highly unlikely to be tagged for speedy deletion, and then copy or move the draft to article space when it's ready. Make sure that you have inline citations which establish the subject's notability, not just a list of external links. This is especially important for articles about living people, and double-check for close paraphrasing/copying from external sources to make sure your text is sufficiently different. WP:Close paraphrasing has some tips on this.
- Don't use external links to commercial sites, i.e. sites that are selling the book, record, etc. either as references or in an external link section. A link to Discogs is OK, though. WP:EL has guidance on which kinds of external links are appropriate and which ones are No-No's. Wherever possible look for reviews or articles that mention the book or record or if it is on WorldCat, you can use the OCLC number.
