Interviews

[edit]

Hi again. I'd suggest you read WP:INTERVIEW - it's an essay, rather than an official guideline or policy, but it discusses sources of that nature in a useful manner, with references to relevant policies. Most of what is in Music Business Worldwide article is coming direct from the subject, so we treat that part of the content, which makes up the bulk of the content, as a primary source. There is some stuff that precedes the actual interview questions, which is presumably written by the author of that piece - that would be secondary, and would contribute towards notability. If there were multiple sources of that nature, we might be getting somewhere, but that's the only one I could find that gives any sort of depth of coverage to the subject himself - everything else is about his business, or his clients, with just a passing mention to him - not enough to satisfy our notability requirements outlined at GNG. I'm sure he's an important figure in his industry, when I say he is not notable I don't mean he's not important; we have a particular definition of NOTABILITY here, which is based on how much coverage they have received in sources that we can use to write articles.

FWIW, my advice is always to start by getting your sources together. If you can't find at least three solidly reliable, secondary sources, which are entirely independent of the subject, and which give the subject considerable depth of coverage - don't bother trying to put the article together. If you can find at least three such sources, you're probably good to go. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 18:25, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Girth Summit For what it’s worth, you may have just given me million dollar advice in that last paragraph. I’m going to sit down tonight and gather sources on Three Six Zero. As many of my wiki elders have stated, in my sources, Gillespie himself is trivial. However, the articles are all focused on his company.
Thank you so much for breaking down the music business worldwide piece. I can see where it is primary and slightly secondary. I feel like I just leveled up with this knowledge you have delivered. If no one else says it to you this week, I very much appreciate you. Bouncecouncil (talk)<
No worries - you're welcome. Note that the notability threshold for businesses are described at WP:NCORP - they're a bit more stringent that for people, but it's basically just a beefed up version of the same thing. My guess from the source hunt I did earlier would be that Three Six Zero is probably a notable business. Since you've shown in interest in the man and the business, it's probably my unpleasant duty to point you at the COI and PAID guidance, in case you have any connection.
By the way, don't use other people's signatures to ping them - it's confusing seeing my signature in something I didn't write! You can ping them by typing U|TheirUsername insides double curly brackets, so for example {{u|Bouncecouncil}} would work for you. More about this at WP:PING. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 19:04, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Girth Summit Thank you for correcting me on my ping protocol. Also, thank you for warning me regarding COI and PAID publishing. I don’t know the manger personally. I’m just a big fan of Calvin Harris. I saw that there’s no info on his manager and I saw an opportunity to shoot a fish in the barrel. This came after failed attempts at trying to update other wiki articles that were asking for cote assistance. However, I did add a cited source to an already published ESPN Analyst’s page. I do know them, but was not asked to update it. While the source is secondary and newsworthy, should I remove it and request on the talk page that someone else add it? Bouncecouncil (talk) 01:55, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Bouncecouncil, probably easier just to tell me what the article is and I'll check your edits. GirthSummit (blether) 08:08, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Girth Summit The article Keyshawn Johnson. Under “ESPN Analyst”, the final paragraph pertaining to the change in radio shows. I added that with references 19, 20, & 21. Bouncecouncil (talk) 17:29, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
