Speedy deletion nomination of Tahuichi Academy

Hello Brownweepy,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Tahuichi Academy for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Hot Pork Pie (talk) 19:37, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 12

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Talonid, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Molar and Buccal. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. I've reverted the edits you made to this article because they did not appear to make sense, though I can see they refer to what appear to be authentic sources. Johnlp (talk) 11:14, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello again. I see the edits on the Oceania Cycling Championships have also somehow come out wrong, and I wondered whether you needed a bit of help on the process of adding copy to WP. I'm not reverting them for the time being, as I can see that you are using authentic sources and your instincts about copy improvement all seem to be good: but for some reason the copy just doesn't work. Let me know if I can help: I'm not around much but will find some time. Thanks. Johnlp (talk) 10:22, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. I've had another look at the cycling article and I don't think it can really be rescued. The results from the 2015 competition make no sense in their current format, and this is not the right place to put information about the Vanuatu Cycling Federation which, if it is notable, would be better covered in an article of its own rather than in this one. I think the best thing would be to propose deletion of the current article and maybe you could then start again. Sorry. Johnlp (talk) 22:50, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Mazaua

The article Mazaua has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

According to the research mailing list the account that created this was involved in some botlike creation of articles, probably best to delete and start again

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Explain

Please explain this edit. — RainFall 06:24, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

  • @RainFall:I was logged out of my account, hence tried to change the user signature. It shows up as the mac address.

Moving this here from WP:ANI, since that's not really the place for feedback on content. There are quite a few things wrong with the article, some of which are likely to be raised at AfC and some not so much.

  • The first source is unreliable
  • The third source is off line. Since these are machine generated articles, how is that possible?
  • Article ledes are highly stylied in wikipedia and encyclopedias in general, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section for details.
  • Your repeated use of the pronoun 'He' is jarring and in second case appears to be ambiguous. Use a wider variety of sentence structures.
  • There are lots of sources for this person in google books which you're failing to exploit.
  • You're linking to a disambiguation page.

I hope this helps. Stuartyeates (talk) 09:49, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

  • Stuartyeates Thanks for the feedback. This is not a machine-generated article. I read some sources on the web, and some related articles on Wikipedia. For example, the third source has been mentioned in another article on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dejazmach_Birru). I will make the other changes as per the suggestions you have given. Brownweepy (talk) 17:35, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
  • Cut-and-pasting sources from elsewhere without actually reading them or acknowledging that you've not seen them is as big a crime in wikipedia as it is in academia. Stuartyeates (talk) 20:43, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
Understood. I removed that reference. I actually saw four instances of the same reference being referred in 4 different articles on Wikipedia. I did try to search for it on Google books, but did not find anything relevant other than one of the sources that I linked. Brownweepy (talk) 21:29, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
So if we have it right, your explanation is that this isn't machine generated, which only makes sense. I personally find the "whole explanation" riddled with inconsistencies, as what I see from these articles is that they may well not have been entirely generated by autonomous machine, but were more probably partially machine-assisted. Whatever. You seem to trying to patch up the mess and the community as a whole seems to have enormous patience and I fully respect that. For what it's worth, Carl Louis Gregory may be a save. Wow, dude. FeatherPluma (talk) 19:55, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
  • FeatherPluma Thanks for your msg. Yes, this is not a machine generated article. I created it few days back and wanted some feedback on whether whatever I wrote made sense. In the msg above, the administrator gave me some comments and I tried to modify the draft step wise. The earlier version of the same article (that was machine generated) was removed earlier. Brownweepy (talk) 20:18, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. Part of the reason I doubt that these articles collectively were autonomously generated is what I will call the logical converse issue, referring to the fact that not all reasonable references were entrailed by the putative algorithm. Not only is the algorithm insufficiently selective, which is to be expected, but it overtly fails sensitivity compared to my quick and relatively non-probing human search, which makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Maybe it's a purged version issue as you suggest. But good enough, I don't need to pile on, as you are under enough pressure as it is, so I wish you the best.
