Hello, CPA-5. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. 2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting[edit]
As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Re-addition of post Cold War tags on Talk:Kashmir conflict[edit]
Hi CPA-5, Please be careful when you make project banners on talk pages. You marked Kashmir conflict as a post Cold war conflict which it is clearly not and were reverted. Two days later you mark it again without any explanation or discussion. I am not sure if this was a mistake but I would recommend you to be careful next time. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive[edit]
G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
- updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

- Apologies for taking so long to get back to you. The references were way trickier than I expected. One from 1791, one from 1853, several where a previous editor had "helpfully" put "access date" for when they had read the, hardcopy, source. 2018 Nicaraguan protests[edit]
You took this off the list of ongoing armed conflicts but I believe that this is an armed conflict. It has at least two armed groups, and it has over 448 deaths in a last year which satisfies both of the number of death rules. These are the requirements to be an armed conflict so I think that it is an armed conflict. Should I add it on or am I missing something and it is not an armed conflict after all. - If there is at least one rebel group or paramilitary group is involved in the event and is fighting against the govermnent, then it can be called as an "armed conflict" which is not the case. It looks more likely a mega demonstrations than an uprising, political opposition organisations are not an armed group execpt they're armed of cource which is not the case. So my answer is which armed groups are you talking about it is still possible that an armed group is fighting against the govermnent which I did not know exist. But for now on it looks more like the Crisis in Venezuela which is an "civil conflict" so not armed but is has its own armed incidents. CPA-5 (talk) 20:46, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello, CPA-5. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Fall of Baiji[edit]
Hi CPA-5. I didn't realise that this was one of yours. Nice work by the way. I dropped by because it was on the GOCE list due to the copy edit tag. I tend to pick up the military articles at GOCE. As usual, revert or change anything you don't like. One thing which puzzled me, but I haven't changed, is the outcome. I'm not sure how it can be an "ISIL victory" when they lost control of the refinery after one day and the city after four months. Sounds like an Iraqi victory to me. I leave that one with you. - @Gog the Mild: Hi there Gog yes indeed I made this article I think a year ago. At the time it was my main goal to make one article. Now I realised it still exist! If I look to the old article it looks so awfull even now at the no citations paragraphs. It also has lenght of a B-class so maybe I will work further on and make it a B-class. But for now I'm stuck with busy life, reviewing A- and FAC nominations and I am also busy with a sandbox draft about a Communist insurgency in Bhutan. - @Sturmvogel 66: Hey Sturm ah I'm tottaly supprised of this. When you replied last Sunday there was a heavy sturm here which heavily damaged our roof and our car our solar panals even damaged our neighbours' roofs. We had no electricity, gas nor water and fire fighters told us it was too dangours to live there 'cause of risk of CO2 poisoning, explosion danger and our roof isn't stabilise so a next sturm with between 100 km/h–120 km/h (62 mph–74 mph) winds could detroy our roof. Good Lord it didn't, I really hadn't time to reply or even to be online I was a busy with my family. Last week was a terrible and fustraiting week, right now we have electricity and water only gas have to wait because our boiler is heavily damaged. - Hey Tom, a well good question you ask. First, let me introduce myself a little bit. I just came back from my holiday. I never nominated an article and I never used a wikitool. I'm a member on Wikipedia for almost 3 years. I'm a member of our project in March 2018. And I started to review here and there until end 2018 when I decided to help Gog first with reviewing his nominations and in 2019 I started to help Sturm and BB in their ships' nominations. They now are focusing on the OMT project. Even I didn't really want to push them that far. In the last Bugle I finished 3th in reviewing nominations I nominated 64 articles. I'd love to become a co-ordinator, but, I do not think I would have a chance because. Most supporters trust someone who nominates dozens of articles to A-class or even FA-class. Right? - Sorry for the extraordinarily long wait in between you message and this reply, I work nights on a five day rotating schedule and its a little challenging for me to adequately divide my time between work and wikipedia, so if one must be sacrificed its wikipedia since wikipedia doesn't pay me :) Anyway...I reached out to you because you are a skilled reviewer, and at its heart those of us who are coordinators are entrusted with closing those reviews and finding consensus for promotion, demotion, or the status quo. I understand if you think you are not ready, remember its your choice and I cant not force you to run, I am merely reaching out to you as one who is already working in the general review field we need our coordinators to be interested in. - Well, I mean you're the first English native speaker who travels to Belgium. Most people, even don't know where Belgium even lies, some Britons I met didn't even know I am from their kind of neighbour country. It's also strange that the Americans who I know though I was British and the British I know thought I was American well I mean I understand Americans because I try to use British words and if I realised that that word is American then I switch over to the British one. - Yes Ykraps I had a great time in the Ardennes. I even had a great summer, yesterday I passed my practice driving exam at my first time (same with my theory a year and a half ago). I'm now really proud of passing at my first time. Also my mum wants to travel with me and my family to the UK again before the Brexit is a real thing. If we'd go to the UK again then it'd be a race against the time. My mum wants to go from 26 October until hopefully the 30th or otherwise we'd be stuck in the UK. Last time we were in the Uk was only a city-trip to London itself now we want to travel outside London maybe even going to Wales or so I don't know. She likes the cliffs on the French/Britsh coasts so probably to the British coast. - I don't think Brexit will be a problem if you're just coming over as a tourist. There will no longer be a blue channel of course and anything you buy here and take back won't be EU duty paid but other than that there's no reason to rush. If you do come, some of my favourite parts are: Pembrokeshire, Peak District and Lake District, Cornwall and Devon, and Dorset of course! Congrats on passing your test. Seems like the perfect time for a European road trip and don't worry about driving on the other side; it's a lot easier to adjust, than you think. Battle of Goychay GA...[edit]
Hello CPA-5,
I noticed you were the reviewer of the Battle of Goychay article. I believe your review was in good faith. The copy-edits were mainly grammatical and WP:MOS in nature which is what almost all GA reviews are focused on. However, there are some really contentious information that seems extremely problematic when it comes to the article. Unsourced controversial claims, such as the one I removed here, seems to be riddled throughout the article. Another claim, that of "they massacred many of the Azerbaijanis living in those villages" is sourced to an offline WP:PRIMARY source straight from the Turkish government and is hardly a neutral WP:SECONDARY source. This, among many other issues, is why I may request delisting this as a GA. Either that, or we can work together to make the article better or you yourself can help delisting it and putting it up for review as a GA once more. - @EtienneDolet: Thanks, this is the first time I see these. However I personally don't like the concept of delisting something whether it is GA, A- or FA-class. Why not because I don't believe for these issues you immediately should nominate it for a delist. Of course I understand the situation and I do believe it should be changed. But to me, a delist nomination should be the last choice if the article cannot be a GA anymore. For an example if someone add unsourced materials in an FA should it be delisted immediately? I don't think it should, the only solutions are removing or adding the source in it. I still believe this article can be a GA and we should ping the former nom, delete the claims (if necessary) and add new secondary sources. If it's not possible then we can delist it. Hi CPA-5. Thanks for the extensive review of Battle of Sluys, and for the extensive tidying up you have been doing on a number of my previous FAC noms. And for the review that, knowing you, you have already started on Battle of the Aegates as I have recently addressed JennyOz's comments. However, if you have an idle moment or two 
, perhaps you would care to look over my current project - the First Punic War? I am hoping to have this in GAN within a few days, and then run it all the way.
If you would care to help me out with this - and if time or motivation doesn't permit, I entirely understand - then feel free to simply make any edits you feel appropriate. If I don't agree with them I will revert, and if you don't agree with or don't understand my revert we can discuss it on the talk page.
I am partially putting this request in because you commented "I'm a fan of Romans and their timeline". If you have sources on the First Punic War, do let me know, and/or just add sourced information in true Wikipedian style.

- @Gog the Mild: You're welcome mate, speaking about the Battle of the Aegates I've found a magazine (from two years ago) in my little library which includes the battle and the Roman ships. Be prepared because I already found out there are some things not included in the nomination.
- What is the magazine?
- Oh right, it's a popular history magazine in Belgium and the Netherlands (it's originally Dutch) even though they sell it in other European countries too. It's called Historia, I'm not sure you are familiar with it, I think I have like twenty volumes (or even more) in the last six years. The only problem here is, I'm not sure how you can put them here in the references because their ISSNs are unknown for Google for unknown reasons. And don't worry they're highly reliable they put the sources of the topics too.
- What is the magazine?
I also have a source about the Second Punic War if you need some information you always can call me. ;)
- At the moment I am busy with the First War. Next is the Third. Then, possibly, the Mercenaries War. I don't see me getting round to the Second before I lose interest.
Fun fact here, I'm busy with my own project - the 2009 Kokang incident and if this is ready, I'd like to get a GOCE review by someone who has an eye on it.

- Hey mate, I hope you're well, I'm pretty okay and let's hope no one would be infected. Anyway, it's almost Easter and we now have our annual holiday break, which means I now have some time for Wikipedia again especially now couldn't go to Luxembourg for a week which really annoys me. :/ Unless my dirty teachers still sent me some home works which is annoying (I hope they don't). Anyway back to the topic, now the March Madness had ended. You gave me 509 points which sound fair but it's exactly 499. Yeah I know it also surprises me but I calculated three times in a row and I always come out with 499. - Hello RandomCanadian, I've responed on this with a couple of edits. First of all thanks for mentioning this; months ago I've indeed expanded the article. When I added the citation I had lost my ambition to continue this but I had forgot to add the source into the article and I never realised that before you commented on my talk page. The funny part is when I woke up this morning I thought this comment was a dream; I guess it was not. We had a bit of a road trip through the Low Countries, hoping to get as far as Brussels but we stayed rather longer than expected in Bruges, which was consequently our last stop. but apparently the use of the tqq with curly brackets is causing the software to freak out. Apparently anything with curly brackets is a template, which I didn't know before this. Whatever the program is at FAC has a template limit, and since this review is so long it's causing problems. Perhaps you can just copy paste, or reference the location instead, idk. I am grateful you are there, glad for the review and don't want to cause anyone any trouble, but I have been asked by the moderator to pass on that limiting template use is necessary. Yes, indeed everything which uses curly brackets is a template. But since Ovinus has left and deleted over 77,000 bytes is it still a problem to use xt? - CPA, it's the SUM of all templates (on the entire FAC page) that cause us to exceed the limit, so since we're close now, it could be helpful to avoid as many templates as you can at the BC FAC. There is not one specific number, because some templates count twice, so it's all a bit technical. Ovinus's removal did put the overall page back under the limit, but I think we're still running close, and we have to consider what happens when the FAC is closed and it moves to archives, which is where we first saw the template limit problem a decade ago. 24 hour clock[edit]
Hi
Rarely edit wikipedia (hence the ip) just to say I've edited all the times for the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Lion_(1910) page to the 24 hour clock. You'd changed them all from say 3:20 to 03:20, should've read 15:20, as an example. None of the times made sense or matched say, the dogger bank or jutland articles.
Literally zero idea what the etiquette is on this site par editing but thought id let you know.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
