Paulo Mendes moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Paulo Mendes, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Disambiguation link notification for August 12[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Rhys Davies (footballer), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bath. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Page deletion[edit]

Hi Callum, I'm afraid it's not my decision about what is and isn't deleted here. We have notability guidelines that dictate what makes a person notable and therefore eligible for an article. You can read about the process here. In short, the overriding rule is the general notability guideline (GNG), which states that the subject must have sufficient independent coverage in reliable third-party sources to qualify. In the case of footballers, we also have WP:NFOOTY which allows for the creation of articles on players from fully-professional leagues as these would generally garner enough coverage to meet GNG. Unfortunately, the Aberystwyth players I have proposed for deletion meet neither of these criteria in my opinion, which is why I have tagged them. After seven days, another admin will review the tags and decide if the reasoning is sufficient.

I would like to provide as much information as possible on the Cymru Premier too, I have worked quite a bit on various articles in the past, but we have the rules for a reason. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Kosack (talk) 20:19, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I understand the reasons albeit a little bit disappointing.

Have a good night CallumH3236 (talk) 20:24, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Callum, a number of your recent articles are non-notable and will be deleted in due course. Please slow it down and take in the guidance above. GiantSnowman 21:20, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Hi Callum, are you taking these images directly from Aberystwyth's website? If so, do you have permission to use them? Images on Wikipedia need to be released under a licence that meets our image use policy. Kosack (talk) 07:06, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kosack, I am but I know the club photographer, Colin Ewart, well. He has allowed me to use his photos. CallumH3236 (talk) 13:00, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen Colin's work on Flickr, I actually messaged him myself once about releasing an image, but did not receive a reply. However, without the adequate licensing, those images aren't going to last long unless you correctly do so and possibly with proof that they have been released. May be worth reading up on the freely licensed part of WP:IUPC. Kosack (talk) 16:46, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kosack, could you at least do me a favour and sort out the Aberystwyth Town logo on the Wikipedia page. They're saying they're going to taken it down, I don't know how to sort it out. CallumH3236 (talk) 13:08, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see any discussion about removal, but if you're talking about File:ATFC Logo.png it's likely because the licence that it's uploaded with is rather insufficient. The badge is most likely not released under the 4.0 licence as mentioned. Badges are the intellectual property of the club, so they are never released under licence because it would lead to all sorts of misuse. For comparison, take a look at File:Cardiff City crest.svg which has the sort of description and potential fair use licences that are required for this sort of thing. Kosack (talk) 16:54, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I don't understand this licensing stuff CallumH3236 (talk) 18:15, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It can certainly be confusing at times and I'm far from an expert in it myself. To try and simplify, a Creative Commons licence is used when the copyright holder authorises its use. Club badges are not released under these as that would obviously open them up to things like fake merchandise baring the club's official logo etc. Their use on Wikipedia is restricted to use on club articles under the fair use licence. Out of curiosity, why was the old logo replaced? Did the club update the badge? Kosack (talk) 06:20, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I updated it as the old logo had the 125 year anniversary at the top, this was like 7 years ago. Therefore I feel like the badge needed to be replaced CallumH3236 (talk) 08:23, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's no problem. The logo would probably be fine if you add the same sort of fair use licence as used on other club badges as the principal is the same. Kosack (talk) 12:43, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, CallumH3236. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Thjarkur (talk) 00:35, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Look if you give me a bit of time I will get my boss to add some articles to prove authenticity. This article is not to promote or advertise the company, it is to prove the legitimacy of it.

As I have requested, give me time to talk to my boss, as he is currently editing the page aswell. Thank you. CallumH3236 (talk) 00:38, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's no rush as such but from a Google search it appears clear that the company just isn't notable enough yet for a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia strongly recommends against writing about one's own company. – Thjarkur (talk) 00:44, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Will this link do, as it is a legal government document. Surely you can't get any more notable or legitimate than this? https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/08465174 CallumH3236 (talk) 00:44, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Existing does not make a company notable, government documents aren't of used on Wikipedia. See our guidelines for notability for further information. – Thjarkur (talk) 00:45, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following link has now been added, a Pro Ethical Sports academy team played The New Saints FC in a friendly, this provides notability.

Above is an INDEPENDENT source from the official website of a professional football club. CallumH3236 (talk) 01:02, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That is not significant coverage, so it doesn't demonstrate notability. – Thjarkur (talk) 01:03, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No no I'm sorry, but that is independent coverage from a professional football club. How does that not give notability? What more do you actually want? I've provided notability of the company... CallumH3236 (talk) 01:05, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Please explain how your future edits will be consistent with WP:COI and WP:PAID. Do you intend to edit other articles for payment? You don't address your use of another account. 331dot (talk) 13:20, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't intend to edit articles for payment. This account (CallumH3236) is my personal account where as CallumPESFA was more of a work account as such. You can keep that account banned I don't mind but I'd really appreciate if this one could be reinstated. CallumH3236 (talk) 13:39, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

When will I get an update on this? CallumH3236 (talk) 12:39, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Following up again. CallumH3236 (talk) 15:35, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Am I permanently banned from editing wikipedia? CallumH3236 (talk) 15:41, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that you created the account CH1502 to evade your block, is that correct? GirthSummit (blether) 15:43, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that is correct I will admit, but it was purely because I didn't know why I was blocked originally. It was a silly thing to do and I should have tried to appeal my block first time around. I do genuinely apologise, I haven't meant to cause any harm.

I edited wikipedia for fun before I even got my job, I liked editing Welsh football page as I am a big Aberystwyth Town fan. I've seen on that account somebody accused Aberystwyth Town of being one of my clients, this is untrue. The only club I am linked with is Penrhyncoch where I am their voluntary media officer.

I promise, I am no longer being paid to edit articles. I simply want to do it because I enjoy it CallumH3236 (talk) 16:03, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would sincerely appreciate another chance, I wont do anything wrong. I promise. CallumH3236 (talk) 16:04, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any chance you could just give me one more go? If I mess up like this again then suspend me but I genuinely do enjoy editing wikipedia articles, especially because I do it in a sector that doesn't get much attention. CallumH3236 (talk) 16:15, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CallumH3236, so here are my concerns. On the user page of your first alternative account, CallumPESFA, you announced that you worked for Pro Ethical Sports, although you later blanked that disclosure. Under this account and that one, you have worked on a draft about your employer. That draft lists a load of clients of your employer - several of whom play for Aberystwyth Town F.C.. You evaded your block to edit that article, and a few other articles relating to people involved with the club. Even if you're not being paid specifically to edit about them, you have a clear conflict of interest with them - you shouldn't be editing articles about subjects that you or your employers are connected to. What you need to do is convince us that you have read that guidance, that you understand it, and that you are willing to abide by it. GirthSummit (blether) 17:13, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I removed the disclosure was because my boss had asked me to, therefore if there was going to be a problem then I would no longer edit wikipedia articles. I wasn't directly paid to create of edit those articles, it was just little task that my boss wanted me to do.

In life I try to be as neutral as possible, I try not to mess with conflict of interest. For me information has to be correct and not biased otherwise it bugs me.

The reason most of my edits were for Aberystwyth were because as I said I support the club since I was 13 years old, I'm 18 now and have supported the club since years before I got this job. I was mot editing the wikipedia page as a job, I was editing it as a supporter so the squad was up to date and accurate.

I'm willing to abide by the rules, I wasn't fully aware of them before and honestly didn't understand why wikipedia had such a big problem with people being paid to edit articles but now I know and I do apologise for anything I've done wrong. I just believe that blocking my IP from editing wikipedia is quite a harsh and substantial punishment. CallumH3236 (talk) 18:19, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I made so many edits for different things kn CallumPESFA is because I started using that as a work-personal hybrid account. Some edit were asked to be done my boss so information was accurate, but a majority of edits were done in my free time for fun CallumH3236 (talk) 18:21, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CallumH3236, please actually go and read those guidelines from beginning to end.
You need to be clear on a few things: if your boss asks you to do something, as far as we're concerned you're being paid to do it. We don't care whether it's in your job title or not - it's part of your employment, PAID applies. And regardless of how long you've been a fan of the club, if you work for a company that does business with them, you have a COI - you shouldn't be editing about them.
So far, you've shown that you're willing to disregard the Terms of Use of this website (which you agree to abide by every time you click 'Publish changes'), to remove mandatory disclosures at the behest of your employer, and to create a sockpuppet account to evade a block and continue editing about subjects you shouldn't be touching here. We're not blocking your IP to punish you; we're doing it to prevent you from doing stuff like that! If you want to be unblocked, you are going to convince us that you understand all this - we're not looking for grovelling, but for a specific description of how those policies and guidelines apply to you. GirthSummit (blether) 18:38, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest I don't know what to say to you. I've read through the rules yet I still don't know what I can say. I've tried to convince you that I try not to let conflict of interest get in the way, but you won't listen to that. Why, just because the agency I work for has players that play for the club can't I edit the Aberystwyth wikipedia page? That makes no sense considering I don't personally know most of the players that are represented by the agency, I can't be biased even if I wanted to be.

You really think people who aren't involved with certain clubs or companies don't edit their wikipedia pages? Well you're wrong, because I know many people involved with companies or clubs that edit their own wikipedia pages not to be biased but so everything is UP TO DATE and ACCURATE. You win, I give up. CallumH3236 (talk) 18:48, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you'd read those guidelines, you'd know that there are open, transparent and permitted ways for someone with a COI to engage on article talk pages to ensure that they are kept up to date and accurate. If you're not willing to find out what they are and commit to abide by them, nobody is going to be willing to unblock your account. GirthSummit (blether) 18:59, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay well maybe I should have done that, but I had never read the COI guidelines beforehand and I should have. Look you win okay? Just keep my account suspended. I don't know what else to say. It's just a harsh punishment. I'm not being biased in the slightest, but whatever. CallumH3236 (talk) 19:07, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I'm declining the unblock request as you have asked. It would still be possible for you to be unblocked in the future, but you will need to read that stuff carefully and demonstrate that you've done so. Please don't resort to socking again, if you're caught for a second time it will be much harder for you ever to convince someone to unblock you. Best wishes GirthSummit (blether) 19:17, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well what's the point in going on about this. Clearly I want my account unblocked but I genuinely don't know what I'm supposed to tell you! CallumH3236 (talk) 19:20, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have read the guidelines, but I'm sorry they don't help me with what to say so just take it as you will. CallumH3236 (talk) 19:25, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

<Groan> OK, let's try a different tack then. Please read and answer the following:
  1. Have you read the WP:COI and WP:PAID guidelines from beginning to end, and did you understand them?
  2. Is it OK to edit about a subject that has a financial connection to your employer without declaring it?
  3. How do you need to declare your connection with any subject you are writing about?
  4. How should you request a change to an article if you have a conflict of interest?
Best GirthSummit (blether) 19:27, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1. Yes I have and yes I do.

2. No it isn't as it goes against conflict of interest guidelines

3. I'm sorry I don't know how to answer this

4. On the article's talk page CallumH3236 (talk) 19:35, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hope that does at least some good 😞 CallumH3236 (talk) 19:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, you're going to have to do better than that. Read through those guidelines again with questions 3 and 4 in mind, it's all in there. You really need to be on top of this stuff if you want to edit here, given the nature of your employment. I'm signing off for the night, but I'll check in with you again in the next couple of days and see whether you've been able to figure it out. GirthSummit (blether) 19:39, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could I have a more understanding and patient moderator help me with this please. Thank you. CallumH3236 (talk) 19:48, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Really? OK, I'll leave it. Good luck. GirthSummit (blether) 20:17, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Do I need to submit another unblock request CallumH3236 (talk) 20:57, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CallumH3236, yes, you will need to make another unblock request or nobody will look at this page again. You should leave the above discussion in place though, so the next admin is aware of our discussions. (They'll check the history anyway, you don't want to make it look like you're trying to hide anything.) GirthSummit (blether) 22:45, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Girth I'm sorry about before, I've just had a stressful few days and this was stressing me out even more. Could we try again? CallumH3236 (talk) 15:02, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
