California King Bed

Do you really think that California King Bed received mixed reviews from music critics? I can see 5 or 6 positive and 1 negative. That's definitely not mixed, but generally positive reviews. I think you should change it. I don't change it cause I don't want to get in edit war with U. :) — Tomica1111Question Existing? 20:06, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

There are three negative critiques there. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 20:30, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for ignoring your call on my talk page. Well I think we will wait until the end of October for the track listing. As I saw on Facebook, there is a mission for unlocking the cover:) I hope it's gonna be a good one. Do you think there will be some collaboration with Katy Perry maybe? — Tomica1111Question Existing? 20:42, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I don't know. I've heard she is collaborating with Eminem, but I hope he doesn't have featured vocals and that he has just co-written, because they will never top Love the Way You Lie and it is too soon as well for them to duet. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 20:44, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Yup, you are right, It had to be so hard song to beat "Love the Way You Lie". Mmmm, I would really like to see some interesting duets. And I really think that this will be her first #1 in the United States. I don't know I have the feeling. :) I'm so happy that "We Found Love" debuted at number 1 at yours.:) — Tomica1111Question Existing? 20:48, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Because Mary and Michael are releasing the same day as her, who both consistently have #1 albums, she needs to have interesting duets, like Katy Perry. Beyonce is unlikely because she is on Mary's album. A Jay-Z one might be good. Her singles are incredible successful and so are her albums, but that #1 album is still eluding her. Even if it sells like Loud, a number one album on the Top 200 will make her more credible and critically acclaimed. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 20:52, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Definitely. She really needs that US #1. I would be happy If I hear a duet by Beyonce and her, but not possible on this album. If I was Rihanna's manager or however, I would scrapped the 21 November release, and made some later or earlier date. Or maybe optional made the album available on Amazon for 0.99$ the first week, the same that Gaga made for her album. — Tomica1111Question Existing? 20:56, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
She has cemented herself as one of the UKs most popular artists. I think in Europe and Oceania, she will looking at definite #1 debuts, especially here. But in America, I think she might be looking at #3 again. She might be able to beat Mary with an outstanding track list and massive promo (which will be hard), but I don't think she will out sell Michael. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 21:00, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Mmmm I don't know. Jackson's previous posthumously released album did not debuted at no. 1. So maybe a miracle will happen. We will just have to wait. — Tomica1111Question Existing? 21:04, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Rihanna should do the best. All of her success over the year should make her debut at at #1, as you are only as good as your last album, and that is her best so far. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 21:07, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

It will be awesome if you get! Also, I was thinking of joining a few days ago... And since you invited me, I will, but I'm focusing more now on Britney Spears articles. But I'll try to help as much as I can. :) - Saulo Talk to Me 14:31, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, Raining Men and Skin needs a few pictures. And I was looking to the S&M article earlier today, the background and composition section needs to be expanded and separate, but finding info for it is the problem. Also, I see you nominated the article for FA a few times, but I think that this section is the one that 'doesn't let the thing go', if you know what I mean. - Saulo Talk to Me 14:37, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
I know you did, and really, they are perfect. I'm not sure about this, but I think the article can be promoted to A status since it was reviewed by several users, right? Also, I'm going to start searching info for it now.

You should have told me this before I entered the wikiproject! I would tottaly support the nomination. - Saulo Talk to Me 14:45, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

lol Ok, I will, definitely. Now, I'll do some research for S&M. - Saulo Talk to Me 14:47, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok, take a look and tell me what you think: User:Sauloviegas/Sandbox7. I've done this pretty fast, so it may need a copy edit. - Saulo Talk to Me 15:13, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Note to Friends/Editors

I am back at university now, and will not be able to respond to comments or messages very quickly during the start of the week. I doubt I will be able to come online from Monday night until Wednesday night now, due to a hectic two day timetable. So please bare with me, I will respond to comments and messages, but it will take longer than usual now! Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:08, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Wordless

... I don't know what's happening with her ?!. However, I like the deluxe one. — Tomica1111Question Existing? 16:45, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, she's done teen style (Music of the Sun), then girly(A Girl Like Me), then young women(Good Girl Gone Bad), then edgy(Rated R), then sex(y)(Loud), now it looks like her look will more grungy and mod for Talk That Talk. Also, she will going to be on American Idol tomorrow night when it shown on UK TV, so she literally must be flying back to America in between tour dates. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 11:12, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

:)

Sup Aaron, how you been doing? Thanks for your help with the MC stuff while I was away! So how you feeling about the new RiRi stuff? :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 20:31, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

hey! has it been a month already? It's gone so fast lol. I really like We Found Love, I saw her a London's 02 Arena a few nights ago, she was amazing! How was your trip? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 20:37, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Haha, it is pretty much a month! :) I like the song, just think "WFLIAHP" gets a little repetitive lol. Also, I think she's hurting her popularity by over-saturating the radio with her material. The song is just another consecutive single from her, no time to build anticipation. I see this album being a much lower seller than Loud :S. It was great! I really am glad I went. I'll probably go again soon, but I'll have my computer etc. (It was a mistake not bringing it the first time! So I'll still be here :D)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 20:45, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
I was worried the song wouldn't do well because of how Cheers was doing well and that she is on tour, butttttttt it's #1 in 4 countries and top three in 8 countries without any live performances or video! It will be a lower selling, because Mary J Blige and Michael Jackson (/his label) are releasing the same day as her. I've been very busy whilst you've been gone lol. Goooood, where was it again? New Jersey or somewhere close? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 20:48, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh, it will for sure do well, but not to the level of "Only Girl". Yup, that's where I was. It was a really good and relaxing experience, I needed it!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 20:57, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Did you know Mariah has done a song with Justin Bieber for this christmas album? :/ Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 11:26, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh yes lol. I've known for a while. Actually, I know you might not like it but its a very smart idea. At first, when they said "duet", I was upset. I didn't like it because I don't want MC doing so much Christmas stuff without getting back on top. Then, when they announced that he was covering her classic song, and she would appear on it with him, I actually liked the idea. Her and the song are going to be getting tons of coverage from it, and it will help introduce her into a younger audience. Its a strategic move, besides, its always an honor when an artist covers your song, although it would have been nice if she did it Buble (as I said, its a business move!). I'm excited for it, and she looks amazing!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 21:59, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
I think with anything you have to hear it as well. I literally can't stand Justin Bieber, so him covering Mariah and dueting with Mariah will make me just like the song, it might not necessarily make me like him. And this is her last album under Def Jam, I wonder if they will extend their contract with her, pretty sure they will. Do you know when the album is set for release? Im guessing next year now. Also, I wasn't very impressed with When Do The Bells Ring For Me, I was expecting a lot more from her vocally, she sounds amazing, but she doesn't move out of the third and lower to mid fourth octave, and Mariah songs need to, even if it's in falsetto. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:42, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll get over his part over time lol. As for "WDTBRFM", yeah I agree, I expected a much more power performance. Instead, she kept it reserved for the old guy ;) Aside from experimenting with different vocal techniques I also want her to explore other genres etc.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 09:16, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, Mariah has always had respect for the high profile people she has done duets with, she never makes herself the one that stands out. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 09:41, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Yes. California King Bed reached number 8 on the Singles Chart and 3 on the R&B chart purely from TV rotation and radio, no live promo. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 17:35, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

For your dedication to the Rihanna's WikiProject, articles and everything that is Ri-Ri. For all your hard work on bringing many of Rihanna's oldest as well as newest material to GA-status, I present you with this award mainly to let you know that whatever you do for the project does not goes by unappreciated. Keep on the good work Calvin. One day, i am sure that you will manage to promote all Ri-Ri articles to GA status, especially if you maintain this pace. Lol. Just like me, you have learnt a lot through your mistakes and you are still learning but some people here on Wikipedia cannot see that. An edit summary you used

Calvin, you have to be careful of what you type. Something like this edit summary you used in a revert in What's My Name? (Rihanna song) can really offend and hurt a user (or anon), who only made the edit in good faith and was very unlikely vandalism. Anons are human too, and don't bite newcomers. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:46, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

It is when you directly ignore the warning notice right next to it. It clearly says "Do not change the genres" and that if you want to change them, then write it on the talk page. It doesn't matter if you are a "newcomer" or the most experienced editor Wikipedia, surely people can read. It's just plain ignorance. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 18:55, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Still, you must maintain a civil attitude towards careless editors and saying "What's wrong with people today" could be blatantly rude. Give him a serious warning, rather than something like that. Something like "Please read the notice, or you may be blocked from editing for persistent disruption...blah blah.." is always nicer and much more serious and mature. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:12, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I did that as well. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 19:27, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Deluxe Edition cover art

Hello, Calvin. Do you or do you not think that the deluxe edition cover art should be shown on Talk That Talk? Nathan disagrees, but I believe it meets the standards to be shown. I would like to either include it or not include (it needs to be discussed first) and then block the page. It gets taken on and off and on and off. Then I thought that since the page is in the first few steps, it should not be blocked. What do you think? BenWasHere (TalkThatTalk) (talk) 21:26, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Woah woah woah, what do you mean "block the page"? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 21:29, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Visit this page: Rihanna See the lock on the top right corner under where it says View Source? It should say Edit, like most pages. that page however has been used for vandalism therefore only trusted longtime users (like you) can use it. This means that i couldn't edit the page because i'm new. although if i stay on here and edit a lot, i could edit the page, too. it helps the page. perhaps we shouldnt lock it from other users and just add or take away the cover art? BenWasHere (TalkThatTalk) (talk) 22:33, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
That's Page Protection. It stops IP users from being able to edit the article, but I would have thought you could edit it now you have an actual account. Talk That Talk doesn't need PP, there is no need nor reason at the moment. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:46, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I see you have started a discussion topic. Just as well. thanks again BenWasHere (TalkThatTalk) (talk) 10:46, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Because it highlights the words on the page that you type and will take you straight to it. it comes up on the top left hand corner. Just look through his user talk. Common sense tells you it was recent, thus it's not at the top of the page.. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

I will say NO because it does not count as a release in Australia. It does not directly help a song to go higher. ARIA does not count airplay. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 15:04, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
OMG this thread is so long. Okay so i will remove The Music Network from the release history tables in CKD, S&M and C(DtT). Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 20:17, 18 October 2011 (UTC) End

You are really irritating me now with how you think you are above everyone else, you're not, and with your disgusting and rude attitude. I'll be watching all edits you make, especially on Rihanna articles. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 23:00, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Anyway, im gonna revert your edits...the site is the site is Australia’s #1 source for music industry news and information, and has been for 15 years, and that's all that matters......and you did not give me any concrete reason why it's not reliable......68.62.240.86 (talk) 22:58, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Civility

I happened to have followed the back-and-forth in this thread as I just recently saw The Music Network mentioned in an article. As I clicked through each edit I saw more and more frustration and rudeness pop up, and I'd like to point out a little detail (and offer a bit of advice)

Calvin, up near the top, you said, "It's on this talk page, just look for it", and that was about as helpful as you got. I am now assuming you added one single extra letter, fatally transforming "his talk page" to "this talk page".

While you were barking and bickering and refusing to add any kind of link to the conversation in question, I went to find the discussion on your talk page myself. Although 68.62.240.86 doesn't (or didn't) know about Windows-based Find functionality, I do, and I searched this page for "music network", then just "network" and still found only this thread. I even searched in your Talk page archives, but found nothing. So I wasn't able to throw in a link for your visitor either.

What it comes done to is that you made a little (but important) mistake and you were, IMHO, rather rude to the other editor. Now, we all make mistakes, so there's not much to complain about there, but when you're unhelpful to someone you have led astray in the first place, that's a problem. Using a phrase like, "It's not that difficult" instead of just providing a link is unhelpful, when you could have defused the whole thing and put an end to 68.62.240.86's frustration and confusion (and mine too, come to think of it).

68.62.240.86: I see why you were confused, and I think you can be forgiven for not knowing Windows/PC commands, but doesn't the Mac or Safari use Command+F as a Find function? Don't you know there's a correspondence between PC's Ctrl key and a Mac's Command key? In any case, saying things like, "is it so hard for you to copy and paste some of the text here....that's if it exists" is not exactly assuming good faith. I hope you'll both try to remain cool in future dealings with each other and other editors; there might just be a simple misunderstanding (or several) behind a dispute.

And in the end, I'm not convinced that The Music Network isn't a reliable source; Jivesh seems to be claiming that it shouldn't be used because it's referring to airplay start dates, and (says Jivesh) that's not considered a release in Australia. As a source for airplay dates, though, it appears to indeed be reliable. At least that's how I understand Jivesh's statements. Cheers, all. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 03:07, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

John you seem to be all jumping on me now. This what i do not understand sometimes. I am not telling this in an offensive way but it feels strange sometimes how you prefer to believe IPs rather than us (editors who have been here promoting articles since two years, even three, and more). I keep in mind that i was also once an IP and that i took long to understand the meaning of good editing. And i have left an explanation on the IPs page. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 03:20, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
See how easy it is for misunderstandings to arise? I had absolutely nothing at all to say about you or your behavior. I can't imagine why you'd feel "jumped on". You weren't even part of the interaction here. I ended by trying to describe my understanding of your explanation (copied here from your Talk), but I can hardly criticize what you've done if you haven't done anything.
And your comment about me "prefering to believe IPs" seems totally misplaced, too. I'm not believing anything, other than that 68.62.240.86 and Calvin both got impolite with each other. Are you sure we're even discussing the same things? — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 04:39, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
I apologize then. Actually i saw you mentioning my name twice. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 04:44, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Nothing to apologize for, brother. And you know, somebody could mention your name and not mean it in a bad way. ;-) — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 05:06, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Wow, you called me bro. Thank you wholeheartedly. That really touched my heart. So from today, you are also my elder Wiki-bro (I think you are older than me, right?). And thanks for your comprehension as well. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 05:18, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

I didn't know I had typed "this", I thought I had typed "his", easy mistake. And yes, Mac's do have the Ctrl+F option, I have one. And I don't like how I am being singled out for be the only rude one, the IP user was also rude to me both here AND on his own talk page. If you want respect, you have to give it too. User Talk Pages

(I thought I'd respond here too, since this is less related to "Reza's talk page" now.)

People are free to do as they please on their talk pages, except for a few minor things. Please read up on WP:BLANKING. I'm sorry, but policy trumps your stories and anecdotes about when you first started. (Unless you'd like to point me to a policy that supports what you say.) Sergecross73 msg me 16:49, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Ergh, I just posted this on his. "I never said it doesn't, I simply said no one had ever said that you can blank your talk page. Therefore, I obviously thought I was right as no one had ever said that you can; although I do think it looks like you have something to hide and cover up by removing warnings, trying to make yourself look better. And I don't appreciate your tone of "policy trumps your stories and anecdotes". Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 16:52, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Well, I'm sorry no one informed you before. You still should have looked it up before you lectured others on it. Your response came off more like "Well someone said it to me, so it's okay if I do the same to someone else", which would be very wrong in this case. And as far as tone goes, mine is no different than yours when you were lecturing Reza on his talk page... Sergecross73 msg me 17:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
You made it sound like I had made it up, when I hadn't, I was actually told that. And Reza also spoke to me like that too. I have no idea why he is going on about creating the article for We Found Love by the way, because I did. And it shows he is inexperienced in editing, although he says he has been an editor for 2 years, because then he would know that he uploaded non free content, that is why the cover he upload was deleted by whoever, not because someone else wanted to do it instead. I don't think anyone cares who uploads it, as long as it passes notability and is free content. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 17:17, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok, Mr. Experienced, can you tell me how should i knew that you created a topic which nobody could see that, eh? and all of a sudden you popped up and said hey i created it here, it's hidden. and just because i put that cover in your Hidden article, Ta-dah! i recieved a warning. WOW!!! your well-experienced on how to judging people and shouting at them. and you said i spoke to you like that? yeah i talked back, remember your first word to me after i edited that article? it was something like "hey this topic is hidden here and don't edit it and leave it that way." it was like "fuck off" to me, and i stormed back, you get what you give so don't blame it on me. and about that cover, i seriously don't know what happened to it cause i uploaded many album cover here and none of them got itself in this situation that turned to a non free content and i don't give fuck about it anymore. have fun with what you doing. i just wanted to clear the air so there's no more further discussion about it. (Reza (Talk2Me) 23:36, 20 October 2011 (UTC))
All of that is between you and him, and I frankly don't care. My point was to express that it's okay to remove info from ones own talk page (which you now seem to understand) and that my tone is no different than yours. (Judging by the fact that your response was directed toward Reza's tone instead of defending your own tone, you probably recognize this as well.) So there's no need for further discussion really. Sergecross73 msg me 17:31, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Reza: I'm pretty sure I didn't give you a warning notice for adding a picture into the article. I might have warned you to re-creating a re-directed page when had a consensus of re-direct had been reached. (Re-directs generally mean that they are not ready to be opened unless the song charts or receives significant coverage). And you clearly could see the page, as you are partly registered on Wikipedia, as you removed the re-direct and wrote on the article, you didn't create a new URL. But whatever, I don't want to talk about it anymore. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 11:41, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Your GA nom for Fading (song)

Hi Calvin, I've reviewed your GA nomination at Talk:Fading (song)/GA1 and am sorry to say that I had to quick fail it due to the AFD and subsequent expansion. Please feel free to nominate in a month or so, after the article has been stable a little longer. Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:18, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Calvin, sorry to see you didn't get the GA. I hope my multiple copy edits didn't contribute to Crisco's decision that the article wasn't stable—if so, sorry. (But I think he was more worried about the AFD and expansion? My edits didn't really lengthen the article, they actually shortened it a tiny bit.) But as Crisco says, you can try again in a month or so.
You know, I didn't mention this before because it was beyond the scope of my edits, but if I were writing the article, I would try to have a clearer distinction between the Composition section and the Critical Reception section. I know there is supposed to be a difference: the Composition section is supposed to be about the song elements, while the Critical Reception is about the critics' praise of the song. But, really, right now there is lots of mention of praise in the Composition section and a bit of mention about song elements in the Critical Reception section. And, to me, the first part of the second paragraph of Background sounds like what I would really expect to find in a Composition section, or a Composition and Recording section. I assume you've scoured the Internet for every bit of reliable source info you can find. Well, if there's no more info out there about its composition, I suggest you cut the current Composition section and make a brief-ish Song Structure (best name?) section, where you can use information like "baroque pop opening, violin stabs and treated vocals, builds slowly into a rolling and shuddering beat and soft, sad-toned piano" and "long and short elements—sustained choruses and staccato verses, edgeless keyboard chords and notes that are suddenly truncated" but instead of using direct quotes, put it in your own words. You can cite the info to NME and the New York Times, of course, but in the References, not in the actual text. You can make it an objective description of the song elements in your own words by paraphrasing the two quotes above, and then cite the info to them down below. And in the text, leave mention of critics' names, as well as subjective words like "praised" and "exceptional" and "skilled", for the Critical Reception section. Then the two sections don't sound like Critical Reception 1 and Critical Reception 2. Anyways, that's just what I would do if I were writing the article. You're free to reject these ideas, of course. I see you've got lots of GAs under your belt, so what you've been doing so far has undoubtedly worked. I haven't looked at your other GAs, but I'm just saying for this particular article, not just for passing GA, but for improving its overall quality, that's what I would do. If you have any questions about I wrote, feel free to ask. Take care. Moisejp (talk) 07:36, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Calvin, he^^^ is right. This what i have always been telling you. Critical reception and composition are not the same although you use the same references to expand both. However, the writing style is different. The composition section of "Fading" looks like a critical reception section. What you did on "Take a Bow", however, is simply very good. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 07:58, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
As a side note, I stole a look at your sandbox and liked what I saw. Could you let me know when you move it to article space so I can nominate it for DYK, or perhaps nominate it yourself? Thanks for doing all this great work about Rihanna. Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Oh my gawwwd so many comments. But I nominated the articled before it was AfD'd and the article won't get any bigger in a month, or ever. To be honest, how is any GAN stable? When there are things to improve, loads of edits are made, far more than the tiny expansion on Fading. Also, Crisco, I can only move it into mainspace if there is literally loads of info in the coming weeks or when the song charts (which I pretty sure it will do next week). Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 12:21, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Calvin, I wouldn't worry about trying to make it bigger, just make the content more solid. I would make it even a bit shorter, but more solid, so that every word counts. To be honest, right now it feels a little bit like it has been fluffed up a bit, or spread too thin, to make it look longer. I think with my ideas above you could make a relatively solid and convincing Song Structure (or if you want to call it Composition you could—though for me Composition sounds more like a description of the process of songwriting) section. You could also make the Critical Reception section longer by moving some of the stuff that is currently in the Composition section down. But make it just the right length, so all the content sounds convincing, not longer just for longer's sake. Maybe I could help you with it along the way, if you wanted, but I'd like to see what you do with it first. I'm actually not even familiar with Rihanna's work, I just stumbled on this article randomly in the GAN list, saw it was up for AFD, and thought I'd try to help out with some copy edits. Moisejp (talk) 15:31, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I've never noticed until Crisco highlighted that edit, but what have you done to the references? It looks like a lot has been changed/removed? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 18:07, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I didn't do anything to the References. This [1] was the extent of my editing. Moisejp (talk) 19:15, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
but this says you did? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 19:26, 18 October 2011 (UTC) Oh you moved them around. It was really confusing me because I couldn't see where there references used to be. I've made changes anyway. I still think it was unfairly failed, because there was no ongoing edit war or content dispute. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 19:34, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Per criteria number 5, it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute. I interpret that as meaning that it should be stable during the nomination period (no major expansions and whatnot while waiting for a reviewer). Things that happen during a review are, in my opinion, desirable as it results in a better article. Maybe even 2 weeks would be enough time to wait, if a month is too long. Regarding Princess of China, no problem... Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:43, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I think you unfairly failed it to be honest, because there was no edit war or content dispute. And I think calling it a "major expansions" is big overstatement, nothing was adding to the article to make it bigger, things were just moved about. Hardly anything changed, in fact 90% of the edits were simply grammatical, add a comma here, remove a comma there. Plus, Moisejp made those edits after the AfD had been closed. Failing it on the only principle that it had gone through AfD during the time that it had already been nominated for GAN is unfair. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 18:15, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Perhaps. I had thought about it, but you have already renominated the article so the previous review cannot be put up for reexamination. Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:57, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
Does it make a difference? I can just withdraw the current one. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:59, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
  • As far as I can tell, no difference except for which number is linked to from the GA box. I don't have you watchlisted, so if you want you can leave talkbacks. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:09, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
What's the point of you being able to have the nomination re-nominated if you thought you was correct in failing it in the first place? Surely it's up to me if I think it was unfairly failed? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 23:16, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
  • As I noted, I failed for the AFD. The new nomination doesn't have to worry about that. Regarding the reassessment, per Wikipedia:Good article reassessment that would be the original nominator's job if he or she feels that the failing was unfair. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:19, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
I don't see how GAR is relevant if Fading isn't a GA, as there is no GA to reassess. I just don't like how it was in my opinion unfairly failed. The reason you gave for failing it wasn't the case. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 23:24, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
  • "GAR can also promote articles to GA status, but this has been infrequent occurring occasionally following delisting from GA status or after failing a good article nomination. GAR can sometimes provide more feedback for delisted articles or failed GA nominations." - Verbatim from the GAR page. You could theoretically use it in the future, if you wish. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:26, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
I know the GAR process, I've used it for Hard (song) and Rude Boy (Rihanna song), but that's not my main issue. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 23:29, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Regarding the AFD thing, I will keep it in mind the next time I do a review. However, as the article has already been renominated, discussing whether or not to have another person weigh in on my review feels like flogging a dead horse.
I have to get going now (full schedule today), so I'm sorry if I take a while to reply if needed. I'm considering reviewing your current GA nomination. If you want to see what a fuller review by me would look like, see Talk:Reflection (song)/GA1. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:34, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Okay. As long as you realise that an AfD actually has nothing to do with the edit history of the article itself. Bye. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 23:52, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

FAC subheadings

From the FAC instructions: "Please do not split FAC review pages into subsections using header code (if necessary, embolden headings)." And it really messes up the ToC, so that there appeared to be a FAC named "Oppose' by Wikipedian Penguin (see review below) (edit conflict)". --Sarastro1 (talk) 15:29, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately, rules are rules, and perhaps this should be taken up somewhere else. And it was the contents which made me notice what had happened. --Sarastro1 (talk) 15:32, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
On the FAC page, there is a table of contents (ToC) which lists all the current FACs. As I mentioned above, when I looked at the FAC page, I noticed that listed in the table of contents was, apparently, an article called "Oppose' by Wikipedian Penguin (see review below) (edit conflict)". As there was obviously not an article called this, I realised what had happened and changed it. No other FAC contains subheadings, and the rules explicitly state not to use them. I fail to see why this is such a problem. --Sarastro1 (talk) 15:35, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi There

Sorry, what's up? I've been running around doing my post-birthday celebrations!!! How are things, how can I help?--mikomango mwa! 22:43, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

I addressed your point about you thinking I was having a go at you on the AfD for Fading, when I wasn't. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:44, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
No worries. That aside, WFL is the best video I've seen in years. I cried like a toddler when I got to the end. She's truly having an amazing year...I think this may be her best video yet!!!--mikomango mwa! 00:03, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah it really cinematic, but I just know that parents and PTC for example will say that it's inappropriate. It's on the borderline I think. She had of been shown actually having sex (figuratively speaking!) or actually doing drugs as in putting them in her mouth, I'd say it would be unacceptable. But as it stands, I think it's good. It doesn't glamourise it all, so people can't say that she is being a bad role model (I know she doesn't want to be one), at least she walks out on him! Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 00:07, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
I couldn't agree with you more. I think the scene with her lighting multiple cigarettes in his mouth and receiving the smoke from his lips may rile the PTC up, but other than that, it addresses the very serious subjects of emotional abuse and substance abuse without actually showing the abuse taking place, more the fallout of said abuse. And yes...despite the "sex scene" this video is actually less overtly sexual than S&M was. I am a bit worried about the PTC but at the same time, it seems like she's coming for Madonna's throne. Madonna made a whole career out of enraging the PTC, spurning the "role model" requirements and pushing the boundaries...Rihanna appears to be maturing in the same trajectory. In which case, this video succeeds and she's truly changing the industry with each step. Rihanna's reign further cemented with this video, for sure! I just hope her album goes to #1 in the US so the haters will pipe down already. lol--mikomango mwa! 00:18, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Rihanna said herself that she wants to be the black Madonna, but to be honest, I think Rihanna should be known for being Rihanna, not a different or newer version of someone else, even though I think Rihanna is so much better than Madonna. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 00:21, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
TESTIFY!!! You just gave me CHILLS, Calvin. It is SO true. She is way better than Madonna and she should indeed be known for being Rihanna...and she will. I hope she gives us at least 10 albums and continues to slay the game. Okay, here's my problem. People are already asking the question: "Do you think Rihanna is using Chris Brown and their story to sell her song?" I don't like that question, I think it's disrespectful to her and I'm tired of CB fans trying to take away what she's worked so hard for!!!--mikomango mwa! 11:31, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Rihanna is only 23 and is about to release her sixth, I think by the time she is 30, she would have done ten albums. I think after this album, things will start to slow down a bit, and rightly so to be honest, otherwise she will be overexposed and her music will start to sound the same. She may not want to, but I think taking a year and exploring the world will give her new things to "write" and sing about. She needn't worry about not being about to chart well because she has cemented herself in the music industry, especially with her singles. What's your real name btw? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 14:39, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

That's true...I think she will have to take a pause in the next few years. I love the fact that you put "write" in quotation marks. HILARIOUS! My real name is actually Miko, LOL. Though I can't stand Chris Brown or the best bone in him, I think the WFL section on Chris Brown is tastefully written, a good amalgamation of the various queries while still being respectful to Rihanna.--mikomango mwa! 13:08, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
Lol thanks. I need a picture from the music video. She wrote quite a bit on Rated R, but nothing on Loud. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 13:10, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

This discussion started off about a misconstrued comment I made on an AfD, which then turned into talking about the video for We Found Love. To be honest, everyone on here talks to each other regarding whatever. Talk pages do not go towards making Wikipedia a better encyclopedia. So I am expecting you to post the same message on hundreds, if not thousands of other peoples user talks very soon, as it applies to everyone, not just me. Goodbye. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 14:35, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Actually, it didn't... "Sorry, what's up? I've been running around doing my post-birthday celebrations!!! How are things, how can I help?--mikomango mwa!5:43 pm, 18 October 2011, last Tuesday (4 days ago) (UTC−5)". You also couldn't be more wrong with part of your statement above. That being said - it has already been illustrated to you by others that your expectations are not of consequence here. The expectations set forth by policies and guidelines of WP are. Anyhow, as I mentioned above - there is a message in a sentence you wrote... hopefully you will hear it. So far - not so much. Srobak (talk) 14:56, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Actually, it did. I think I know what I am talking about on my talk page. I had left a message for him about an Afd, but he didn't reply. So about 4/5 days later I left another message because he hadn't replied, to which he replied "Sorry, what's up? I've been running around doing my post-birthday celebrations!!! How are things, how can I help?--mikomango mwa!5:43 pm, 18 October 2011, last Tuesday (4 days ago) (UTC−5)". Got that a bit wrong, didn't you. You don't even know what you are talking about. And no, I don't know what you think this hidden message is. Stop writing on my talk page. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 15:01, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll point out the un-hidden message, and then will do as you ask (although you should read WP:OWN). You wrote: "I'm pissed off of people singling me out for things all the time. ". There - I have now led the horse to water. Ciao! Srobak (talk) 15:15, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
That makes no sense. And this is my talk page, and you are talking shit on it. So yes, I am telling you to stop writing on here. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 15:20, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
He is just an irritant. Ignore him. I had a look on his talk page a lot of people have had a go at him for his mistakes. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 14:22, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Srobak doesn't realize this is an extension of a discussion about changes made to the Fading (song) page...wow...talk about sticking your nose in the beehive to get stung. Srobak, dude, go police vandalism on pages and fix broken links...you know...things that are actually useful. Policing someone's talk page...super inappropriate. WP:HARASSMENT is not a good look--mikomango mwa! 13:19, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

What?

Sorry, but I didn't actually understand you. How should I do that? My love is love (talk) 21:42, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, whatever you did, you'll have to add back in from the previous revision. I don't know what you did. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 21:47, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
I still don't understand you. How do you mean to add back? I didn't remove anything from the article. Do you mean that I should add the info I added the last time in the background and composition section? My love is love (talk) 21:53, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
You added something about Chicago Sun Times, but I put in what i had done, thus omitting whatever you added. I'll do it for you. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 21:55, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh Ok. Thanks. My love is love (talk) 22:02, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh it doesn't matter, I thought you had put it in the Critical reception section, but you hadn't. Don't worry! Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:03, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Talk That Talk

Could you on the United Kingdom part also add the deluxe edition to the CD and digital download section as it would be released on the same day.MariaJaydHicky (talk) 09:17, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Princess of China

My name is Peter Wallace. I am an assistant to James Diener, President and CEO of A&M/Octone Records. I apologize for reverting your edits, however this situation is very frustrating for my employer. Matthias Bell is an up and coming singer/songwriter who currently has a holding deal with our company while he completes college. He has been assisting in the writing of several songs over the past six months, including Lil' Wayne's "How to Love" and "Mirror," Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts," David Guetta's "Without You," three songs on Casting Crowns new album, Come to the Well, and helped Coldplay in the songwriting of their new album Mylo Xyloto. Due to his holding deal, proper credit cannot be given to him on the bi-line, however his work deserves to be recognized as a part of the writing of this song. As you mentioned before, Kanye West was not credited in Beyonce's "Party," however was given credit for his contribution to the work in the lyrics section on the wikipedia page for that song. I did not mean to disrespect you in any way, but I am in a very difficult position. My boss is extremely frustrated with the lack of respect his client is receiving for his songwriting as a part of Mylo Xyloto, as the reason for Mr. Bell not being credited is his dedication to his education. I understand that you must attempt to keep all information as correct as possible, but in only giving proper recognition to artists credited, you are incorrectly discrediting an artist who has written 3 top 10 hits on Billboards' Hot 100, 3 songs on an album that is currently Top 10 on the Billboard 200, and co-wrote "Princess of China," "Hurts like Heaven," "Charlie Brown," "U.F.O," "Us Against the World," "Up with the Birds," "Up in Flames," and "Don't Let it Break Your Heart" as a part of Coldplay's new album Mylo Xyloto. Thank you for your time, and I would appreciate you answering this request at your earliest convenience. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.71.46.45 (talk) 21:55, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

He should have got himself on the credits then. Wikipedia does not accept WP:OR (Original Research). If there is no credible, critical or reliable source for him being credited, then he cannot be included. It is not Wikipedia's fault that he has not been credited on the songwriting credits. Wikipedia only accepts reliably sourced information for its [good and well written] articles. If there is any controversy published by credible, critical and reliable sources (NME, Rolling Stone, Rap-Up, Digital Spy etc.), about him not being included, then there can be something written about him and how he was not included in the article, but until then... Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:04, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your time. Though I completely disagree with your position, I have no written proof of his involvement in the writing process other than signed, notarized contracts paying him for his services, which isn't published by such a credible source as "Rolling Stone." In order to protect Mr. Bell's privacy as he attempts to be a normal college student, no article can be publish specifically about his involvement. However, my employer has told me to say that he looks forward to the completion of Mr. Bell's education, as he will finally get the credit he deserves for the work you are currently, incorrectly discrediting him for. His first single is called "Fall Apart" and features Marshall Mathers. Hopefully then you can show him your support and buy it on iTunes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.71.46.45 (talk) 22:22, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
Ma..ma..Marshall Mathers?! —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:25, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
How can you expect me to include him as a credited song-writer, when as you just said yourself, you have no proof that he is credited which can be published? So don't have a go at me saying that I am incorrectly discrediting him, it's you who is doing him an injustice. Only you seem to know that he has allegedly co-written (I say allegedly as you cannot provide proof) "Princess of China", so if you hadn't of bought this up, no one would be none the wiser, would they? I've made my point, and I stand correct in what I am saying. No source or proof, no inclusion. They are the rules of Wikipedia. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 22:33, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Please note that through a search here all instances of Matthias Bell have been removed from Wikipedia and marked as WP:VANDALISM, this is a clear WP:HOAX and any addition of this name is to be removed and marked as vandalism. - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 23:19, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm pleased you chimed in, I was going to ask you to weigh in your comment lol. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 23:20, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Sarcastic comment

I removed my comment after a minute because I realized the article was about a not yet released album, and not the one i was even looking for. I had been searching for a music video i had seen that didnt have credits at the end of it. the video was a montage of 2 videos, one of which was hers, the other was the one i was looking for. I assumed, since i had seen a video that i thought had a name based on some lyrics i had heard (i did a lyric search from the few lyrics i could make out), that we had at least a song or two already known, and thus probably a track listing, and that this was the album that the entire video montage was drawn from. I honestly thought we had this whole article written with no tracks added yet! once i did more research and found the track i was interested in, i went back and removed this comment. Yes, i was being sarcastic, and i try not to be, but i was honestly having trouble reading the article and figuring out what was happening. I was probably mostly upset that the Youtube site, and the tv show, were so poorly documenting the actual names of the groups and the songs, and took it out here a bit (Im sort of old fashioned, i like to have sentences at youtube and on tv like:"the recording artist rihanna, performing her new song "x", featuring the artists y and z, from record label zz, released in 2011, from her upcoming album zzz.) I generally am better behaved, but i sometimes worry that we at WP are struggling over minutiae as at a fan site. Maybe having a section in the article called "track list" with a note that the track list has not been released yet would help. sorry if i bothered you, I like to keep my comments here neutral, and find other places to rant.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 01:06, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

PS the artist i was actually looking for was Anjulie, and the song was "Brand New Bitch", which had been mashed up into "Champagne Showers" by LMFAO, and whose youtube site had a big banner for Rihanna's Talk That Talk. I had though LMFAO was a user name at youtube, didnt know they were a band, and thought rihanna was Anjulie! (I know, its confusing even to me, im not that familiar with all this recent music). They dont look much alike once one compares their images side by side, but my memory led me to see them as the same. Again, thanks for catching me at sarcasm, even a little here can be a very bad thing.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 01:16, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

"Party"'s release date

Please participate and help clear the confusion here. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 05:02, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Are you online? "Party" needs to be semi-protected. See the revision history page. A real MESS. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 18:28, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I don't get what you was asking for the on release date discussion? Also, I was in a club last night and they played Party! Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 11:24, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Read the first paragraph of the discussion. Lol. Wow, they play songs like "Party" in the UK. I thought it is too urban for your country. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 11:59, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Okay. No, it's a club song, so it will get played. Lol. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 12:14, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Oops. Hey, Rihanna is coming for her 11th Hot 100 number one. I think if she sells 250,000 downloads and has 70 million AI by next Sunday, number one is in the lock and not only for one or two weeks but for way more than that. Which version of "Party" was played? ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 12:19, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
I don't understand AI impressions etc lol. They omitted Andre 3000. They only played Beyonce's parts. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 12:39, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
They play the J. Cole version on the radio (in my part of the USA) now...I didn't hear Andre 3000 on the radio release version of the song at all! Also, is "Love on Top" not a single release?--mikomango mwa! 13:22, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
@ Miko, LOT is not a single. What radios are playing J> Cole? Is that good news? Will airplay be combined? If not, it will be a disaster. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 04:44, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
@Calvin. Just saw your message. Lol. AI means audience impressions. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 11:29, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Useful? ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 12:15, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Oddly enough, where I live they are playing both Andre 3000 and J Cole's verses on the radio (as some sort of extended-play edit). The way the DJ's mix it, the song sounds pretty good. I was sad that Andre 3000 wasn't in the video. Beyonce looked absolutely gorgeous though...that green fur jacket was amazing.--mikomango mwa! 23:12, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
Look at this. #DEAD#. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 18:13, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
You're being accused of sock puppetry? Why? Is that when someone who has been previously blocked creates another account? Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 18:15, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Yes. Read the discussion. You will i understand. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 18:19, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
I have but I don't understand why you are being accused of sock-puppetry. Calvin NaNaNaC'mon! 18:46, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Because this is Wikipedia. Lol. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 03:49, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
Jivesh, you and I may have our disagreements, but I don't think you're being treated fairly in that exchange. The accusation of sock puppetry seems totally ridiculous.--mikomango mwa! 23:12, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
