I did comment at DRN on his comments on Rosas. A literal translation of Caudillo into English is of course dictator but that doesn't reflect the range of opinion on Rosas. Sorry I have not commented further as I don't wish to get into another confrontation with Lecen but if you have further issues please feel free to ask my opinion. Cambalachero, this source may prove useful in your mediated discussion with Lecen ([3]). The Life and Death of Democracy by John Keane (political theorist). Particularly important are pages 414 and 415, which demonstrate the controversial nature of Rosas as a "democratic caesar". Given that it's in English, and written by a well-known political theorist, it may help the mediator get a better understanding of the subject. 2011 Premios Fuse TV

Hi. As you're an active member of the Uruguay wikiproject, I hope you can help me with this. I've been working on List of awards and nominations received by Adele and I'm came across one section which claims she won two awards at the 2011 Premios Fuse TV, which is supposedly hosted by a TV channel in Montevideo called Fuse TV. However, I've been unable to find any reliable sources to confirm this award show (or this TV channel) even exist! Needless to say, I suspect this page is a hoax. Uh, I think I already know by stalking your contributions. Well, just wanted to say I don't support any kind of dictatorship, possibility of governments not having transparency by censorship of its critics, and the likes. And I know well this has been an issue with countries with governments of left-wing tendencies in Latin America. Nevertheless, it doesn't make me less hostile against certain kinds of conglomerate, especially those with spurious biased viewpoints, data manipulation and support of political and economic elites (or political elites supporting them because they don't want to mess with fire). Evidence word count limit on Argentine History case

Glad to hear you are alright. Luckily, I have never had to deal with floods. Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are the problem here, but that has more to do with wind speed and electricity rather than water (the water is actually what is in constant scarcity). No mention of leftwing urban & rural guerrilla warfare although attributed sources clearly make mention of the fact

Unfortunately I've been recently accused of historical revisionism. This is what Wee Curry Monster, formerly known as Justin A Kuntz (see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Justin_A_Kuntz&action=history) has written after removing my edits in the intro page:

Wikipedia isn't a platform for rewriting history as you seem to think, we're an encyclopedia. The text was perfectly neutral till you came along. There are plenty of fair minded wikipedians around and yes they will fix POV editing like yours.

I would again like to point out that in the past this chap tried to remove any reference to leftwing terrorism. The sources included in the introductory paragraph of the Dirty War page, talk about the armed militancy of the ERP, Montoneros & other left wing guerrilla groups. These sources are not mentioning the activities of the right wing death squads and units of the Argentinian military & police which are already mentioned at the start of the intro when State Terrorism & Operation Condor is mentioned as being part of the Dirty War in Argentina. It looks like JUSTIN A KUNTZ (now reinvented as WEE CURRY MONSTER) is bent on denying the fact the Communist guerrillas of that period had taken up arms several years before the military coup of 1976. I hope you can help, because honestly I'm very frustrated with the whitewashing of history carried out by WEE CURRY MONSTER. I also believe that any mention of the current Pope is irrelevant in the introduction of the page.--SIUHM (talk) 01:14, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

The May Revolution was a week-long series of events that took place from May 18 to 25, 1810, in Buenos Aires, capital of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. The May Revolution was a direct reaction to Spain's Peninsular War. In 1808, King Ferdinand VII of Spain abdicated in favor of Napoleon, who granted the throne to his brother, Joseph Bonaparte. Viceroy Cisneros tried to maintain the political status quo, but a group of criollo lawyers and military officials organized an open cabildo on May 22 to decide the future of the Viceroyalty. Delegates denied recognition to the Council of Regency in Spain and established a junta to govern in place of Cisneros, since the government that had appointed him Viceroy no longer existed. To maintain a sense of continuity, Cisneros was initially appointed president of the Junta. This caused popular unrest, so he resigned under pressure on May 25. The newly formed government, the Primera Junta, included only representatives from Buenos Aires and invited other cities of the Viceroyalty to send delegates. El Mercurio

Hi there! El Mercurio de Valparaíso and El Mercurio are completely different newspapers. The Valparaíso newspaper originated earlier (if I recall correctly, it was founded by Recaredo Santos Tornero or some relative of him), in the 1820s. Then later, in the early 20th century, the Santiago newspaper was founded by the, at the time, powerful Ross family, which continues to own the business. It's hard to understand that none of these articles mention each other, since the Santiago edition, and other regional newspapers such as El Mercurio de Antofagasta, for example, originated from the Valparaíso edition as independent newspapers, but dependent in their roots. Argentina

Hello. I have been thinking a lot about the "County X in War Y" / "County X during War Y" thing myself, as well as the way people name other articles on wiki. I just got over a little discussion with another user about how the Colombia during World War II article should be named. As far as I know, there has never been any sort of standard for the WW2 military history by country articles. I have been reading over these artcles for years, and have been planning to make a few of my own, and I have seem them named according to several different naming conventions. Overall, I think "X during Y" is better, because its clearer (The Military history of the United States during World War II article being a good example [On a personal note, Id drop the "Military History of the" part]). A war is not a physical thing you can be inside of, people just say it like that for short. This is an encylopedia, so I think the proper words should be used. Also, not all countries were "in" (as in fought) World War II, but even the ones that were neutral still have relevant WW2 history, hence "X during Y", rather that "X in Y." By using "during", instead of "in," you are referring to the entire period of war (in this case 1939-1945). "In," as I said before, is short, or slang, and refers to "fighting in", or "participation in." Since many countries didnt fight in WW2, but still are important to WW2 history, "during" would be more appropriate. Argentina did declare war, but to say they actually fought in it would be more than a stretch. But those are just words. One of my main concerns is consitency. I intend to make an article titled "Latin America during World War II", for the general WW2 history of the entire region, and use it as a main article in a series. The sub articles in the series, such as Argentina during World War II, will be named consistently, and they will be structured consistently. Latin America is not a country, and therefore it did not "fight in" WW2. "During" is the only appropriate word in this case, and, for the sake of consitency, which is of paramount importance in any encyclopedia, the sub articles will be named the same way. The same can be said for individual Latin American countries: Most were neutral for most of the war, and the ones that did actually fight only saw a little bit of action, the one exception being Brazil. Having two articles, one for X country during then entire period (1939-45), like this article is, and one solely for X country's time at war, would not be neccessary, which is another reason why "during" is better, because many countries were heavily involved in WW2, before they actually declared war (obviously). About the Battle of the River Plate: The battle was an important part of the WW2 history of the region, and the article itself says that it occurred in both Argentine and Uruguay waters. But even if it did in fact occur only in Uruguay waters, Argentina is right there, and still a important part of the battle's setting.
