Someone has made same wikipedia page as I have

Hello Cassiopeia. I'm currently having an issue I created a fighter page for Charles jourdain right after his fight someone at obviously broken the rules and made one prior because it forced mine on to the name of fighter when I never added it so we obviously made it before it was allowed to be made and had to delete it either way I'm not trying to be a dick by saying this but mine is much better than it is much better referenced do I try to get it deleted or do we just duke it out. I upload the links to may page to most of the pages so his is just sitting there!Tsims23 (talk) 14:45, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Tsims23 Good day and I saw. The editor created the page one minute before yours - see this vs yours. One of the page could be deleted under Wikipedia guidelines. As the common name for Jourdain is "Charles Jourdain" and the page is about the same subject, I have tagged merge (yours into Charles Jourdain - meaning, content to to merge and added with more info which is supported by source if the destination page ("charles jourdain") was lack of the info. I suggest you to draft out the page in draft page and ping me when you have done and give me the link. I also update the fighter page during the event, so once the fighters have stepped into the octagon and the referee has initiated the fight, I would reveiwed the page for you and place it in the main space. I will add the fight content and the source as well. Tanner Boser is scheduled for his third UFC fight on June 27, 2020. You would start drafting the page. Stay safe and best. Tsims23 good day. A typical lenght of merge discussion would stay in the talk page for at least 7 days if there is no more further discussion, then an univolved editor can close the merge. Once the merge discussion is closed then the "merge from" article,in this case is Charles Jourdain (Fighter) content will be moved to destination page, Charles Jourdain and Charles Jourdain (Fighter) will be deleted. I have reverted your merge edits and got another uninvolved editor to close the merge which should be done in next two day. Once the merge is close you can copy your edits from the history page of the Charles Jourdain and paste the merge content back into the page.


As for Tanner Boser, pls click Draft:Tanner Boser and add all the content+sources in the page. Pls add ":" in front of the all Category section. Once you have done it then let me know. I will review add the final source (fight result) and place it on the Wikipedia mainspace once Tanner Boser has fought at UFC on ESPN: Poirier vs. Hooker this weekend as I always update and add sources to fighters and related UFC event pages during the fights. I also have another question. I am interested in writing about people and places in Maldives. Many have very few english articles but a lot of articles from the major local news sites in maldives like mihaaru, raajje.mv and sun.mv, which is in dhivehi language (maldives national language). For example that person has many local language articles. Can you teach me how to reference them, and are they useful in sourcing?

Please note the content of the page needs to be supported by significant coverage by independent, reliable sources (such as from the major newspapers) where by the sources talk about the subject in length and in depth and not only passing mentioned. - pls read WP:42. Problems

  • There are some new tools to make it easier for newcomers to start editing. They are available on some wikis. These wikis had a problem with the visual editor for a short period of time last week. This was because of a bug in the new tools. It was soon fixed. [1]
  • Advanced item Some user scripts and gadgets stopped working because of a change to CSS selectors. .vectorTabs should be replaced with .vector-menu-tabs to fix this. [2]

Changes later this week

  • The developers are working on a new interface to solve edit conflicts on talk pages. This will be released on 24 June. You can give feedback. [3]
  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 23 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 24 June. It will be on all wikis from 25 June (calendar).

    • Wikibase Live sessions is coming back with the first call about Data Modeling in the context of Libraries happening on Thursday, July 2nd at 1600 UTC.
  • Development
    • It is now possible to search for EntitySchema pages using a shortcut “E:”, similar to “P:” for Properties and “L:” for Lexemes. For example: E:E10 or E:kakapo. T245529
    • Continued working on the first version of Federation, which will allow other Wikibase installations to use Wikidata's Properties - getting closer to a first testable version
    • More work on consistency of user interface components
    • Finalizing the click-dummy for the first version of the Query Builder so we can start testing it with some editors soon and get feedback.
    • Continuing to investigate how to improve our APIs and other ways to improve access to the data in Wikidata for programmers
    • Discussed the future of the Wikidata Query Service and ideas for next steps we can take to make it scale better. Guillaume will join the next office hour to talk about it.
    • More work on clearer separation of Wikibase repository and Wikibase client code in order to improve maintainability

Problems

  • Everyone was logged out. This was because a few users saw the wikis as if they were logged in to someone else's account. The problem should be fixed now. [5]
  • Some readers didn't see new edits to pages. If the page had been recently changed they saw an older version of the page instead. This only affected readers who were logged out. It lasted for ten days. It has been fixed. [6]

Changes later this week

  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 30 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 1 July. It will be on all wikis from 1 July (calendar).

Future changes

  • The Modern and Monobook skins use the ID searchGoButton for the go button. This is searchButton for Vector. To have the same ID for all skins it will change to searchButton in Monobook and Modern too. This will affect gadgets and user scripts. It will happen on 23 July. They should be updated to use searchButton. You can read more and see a list of affected scripts.

Joseywales1961 Well, It is fairly common for us the vandal fighters to receive such messages. Vandal editors stated they would sue me, did personal harm to me, all the "four letter words", name callings and insults of all kinds. It is at times a thankless job and when we accidentally violate WP:3RR for not knowing how many disruptive/unsourced, a too quick revert, edits we have reverted on a particular day especially working on counter vandalism work for a few hours, we would be blocked. I have seen that many times where by long term, experienced counter vandalism editors(7-8 years) got blocked from the examples I stated above and even other editors and the vandal fighters rushed to their talk page and requested them to come back and took a short break, they left Wikipedia for good for they felt their work. So as a vandal fighter we always need to remember 3RR. I am happy your are doing such a good work and thank you for your contribution to Wikipedia. Stay safe Josey and best. P,TO 19104 On top of every Wikipedia page, you can fight a "bell icon" which would show "alerts" - click on the bell icon and you will find my message/the page. Bookmark the page on your computer and if you add your email address on your "Preferences - menu at the top of the page", a message will send it to you email when the page in your watchlist has change. to add the page on your watchlist, just click the "star" icon at the top menu when you are at the page. Editing news 2020 #3

On 16 March 2020, the 50 millionth edit was made using the visual editor on desktop.

Seven years ago this week, the Editing team made the visual editor available by default to all logged-in editors using the desktop site at the English Wikipedia. Here's what happened since its introduction:

  • The 50 millionth edit using the visual editor on desktop was made this year. More than 10 million edits have been made here at the English Wikipedia.
  • More than 2 million new articles have been created in the visual editor. More than 600,000 of these new articles were created during 2019.
  • Almost 5 million edits on the mobile site have been made with the visual editor. Most of these edits have been made since the Editing team started improving the mobile visual editor in 2018.
  • The proportion of all edits made using the visual editor has been increasing every year.
  • Editors have made more than 7 million edits in the 2017 wikitext editor, including starting 600,000 new articles in it. The 2017 wikitext editor is VisualEditor's built-in wikitext mode. You can enable it in your preferences.
  • On 17 November 2019, the first edit from outer space was made in the mobile visual editor.
  • In 2019, 35% of the edits by newcomers, and half of their first edits, were made using the visual editor. This percentage has been increasing every year since the tool became available.

IMAHua If any editor change the name without source then place a warning message on their talk page. When a page is protected, which mean no registered IP editor and unconfirmed registered editors can NOT edit the page. Fight card for UFC 251

IMAHua is right. UFC 251 : Usman vs Masvidal is correct and further confirm from multiple reliable source over your so called "primary source ufc.com". @IMAHua and Kent Bargo: Good day. I had sent a message outlining the norm on editing MMA related page both of your talk page prior changes made again in UFC 251. Please read it again and here is the summary of the above info for UFC 251 (note all the below need to be supported by sources)
(1)Announced bouts -When a bout is announced by the press, we put it on the "Announced bout" section" and when the same bout appear in UFC.com event page, we remove the bout from the "Announced bouts" section and we move the bout into the fight table.
(2) Fighter pulled from the bout on the "Announced bout section" - (i) We remove the fighter who is pulled from the bout from the "Announced bout" section and (ii) put xxx vs. TBD and mention it on the body text.
(3) Fighter pulled from the bout on the "Fight table" - If one of the fighters is pulled from the event the bout on the fight table, we (i) we remove the fighter who is pulled from the bout from the "fight table" and place TBD of the fighter who is pulled from the fight and (ii) mention it on the body text.
(4) Bout remove from the event - (i) we removed it from the either Announced bout section or in the Fight table section (ii) mention it on the body text.
(5)PPV event name - the article name for PPV is just "UFC XXX" without the headliner and put the headliner on the lead section and info box section when the headliners name appear in UFC.com event web page.
(6) For Fight Night or UFC on ESPN we will only change the name when they headliners names appear in UFC.com event web page.
(7) So please do not remove the announced bout of Usman vs. Masvidal on the "Announced bouts" section and do not add the Usman vs. Masvidal until it is shown on UFC event web site.

    • More work on the consistent design system (Phabricator board)
    • More work on decoupling the different Wikibase extensions from each other
    • Polishing the first step of Federation (using Wikidata's Properties in another Wikibase installation) (incl. preventing users from selecting a federated property with a non-supported data type (phab:T252012) and preventing users from accessing Special:NewProperty when federation is enabled (phab:T255576) and viewing a list of all properties when federation is enabled (phab:T246339))
    • Continuing research and interviews around the topic of making it easier to access Wikidata's data for programmers
    • Doing first testing of mockups and prototypes of the first version of the Query Builder - coding can start soon

  • Some rules for user signatures will soon be enforced. Lint errors and invalid HTML will no longer be allowed in user signatures. Nested substitution will not be allowed. A link to your user page, user talk page or user contributions will be required. You can check if your signature works with the new rules. This is because the signatures can cause problems for tools or other text on the page.

As far as I know there is no policy forbidding this to add personal information on user page; however, it is highly recommend to avoid substantial content that is unrelated to Wikipedia, one of them is personal information - see WP:USERBIO (for the full list, pls see WP:UP#NOT for formation posted on Wikipedia is kept in a permanent record that is accessible by anyone. User should exercise their utmost caution on revealing info that could identify them, in the case of trolling, personal attack and cyber attack and other sorts. Hope this help. Stay safe. C1K98V First of all, you dont need need to ping the editor if you write your message in their talk page (this mean you dont need to ping me on my talk page as I will automatically receive a notification). However, do ping the editor in any other talk page (including your talk page) so they would receive a notification. Secondly, pls add an additional colon " : " from the previous message thread for one indentation to the right for this is the normal communication protocol in Wikipedia. As for the CVUA program time-frame - participants usually would finish the program in 4-6 weeks as it depends how much time you spend on the assignments. There are total 9 assignment, one monitoring period and one final exam. Participants are expected to read all the links provided answer all the questions. Ping when questions are answered then I will review the answered. Rises any questions for explanation, clarification or anything which you need help. Stay safe and best.
