The page User:Cegguitar has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

A tag has been placed on Chris Kendall requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Chris Kendall has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Username, COI, etc
[edit]Hi - I just deleted the page above, because I agreed that the article didn't include a claim that would make the subject important or significant enough for us to have an article (see SIGNIF for more on this). However, while I was reviewing the article, I noticed that you included a link to a website - Www.cegguitar.bandcamp.com - which matches your username. This concerns me on a couple of grounds - first, the implication is that you have a connection to the subject of the article, in which case you should not be writing about it according to our COI guidelines; also, your username is probably a violation of the username policy, because it seems to unambiguously represent an organisation or website. Please can you comment on this before editing further? Changes in username can be requested at WP:UNC, but the COI issues need to be addressed. Thanks GirthSummit (blether) 16:07, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

Chris Kendall
[edit]As I've mentioned in reply to your deletion review request Wikipedia has notability guidelines which you need to pass in order to have an article, such as the notability guidelines for people. If he doesn't meet these then we won't be able to have an article on him. If he really is famous then this standard is not difficult to meet at all. I deleted this article because it did not indicate why the subject was important or significant. If you'd like to address this then I suggest creating a draft version and submitting it to articles for creation for approval and feedback. Hut 8.5 17:26, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi - I've looked into this a bit further, including looking at the original (now deleted) version of your user page, and following the links you put into that article. I withdraw the concern about your username - cegguitar is the name of Chris Kendall's blog, rather than the name of a company, and so it is compliant with the username policy. However, if you are the Chris Kendall that the article is about, or if he is someone you know, you have a conflict of interest with regards to him as a subject, and you should not be writing about him. Please review WP:GNG and NMUSICIAN, which discuss notability in general, and the specific guidelines for musicians, and this page, which discusses why it is a bad idea to write an autobiographical article (if you are indeed Chris Kendall).
