Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Cpitcher1977. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 15:36, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Flying over Golden Gate.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 14:51, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have filled in the edit summary following the template removal. I have already written to you about there being NO conflict of interest here. I interviewed James once. I do not work for him, he is not my friend and I recieved no payment for producing this page. I have also edited the copy a little so it does not read like it is promotional. I have also removed the mention of his you tube page and his personal website. Thank you. Cpitcher1977 (talk) 11:19, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Please do not block me. Clearly I am new to wiki editing and I do not mean to abuse your 'system'. There are lots of things you have removed text wise from James Ketchell's page and I would like to know why please. He is a world record holder for circumnavigating the globe. I am not sure why this needs to be removed. Please explain in more detail to help me understand Cpitcher1977 (talk) 16:53, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 17:47, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I understand I have been blocked because of possible advertising. This was not intentional. I have no reason to promote James Ketchell. I also understand that I have been blocked due to copyright issues. I am new to WIKI, I now understand how to go through the image submission process. I am not purposefully not cause anymore disruption and will make useful contributions from now on. More explanation on why James Ketchell's world record cannot be be included in his article would be most helpful. Cpitcher1977 (talk) 09:48, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 20:56, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Global triathlon record and the circumnavigation record by gyrocopter are included already in the article. The article is rather short, so you cannot miss them if you read it. Are there any other records you have in mind? Dr. K. 17:12, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
