Thanks for your input and you certainly get the star detective prize :) I had already ready read the COI and as I am not making money from anything I write, we researchers rarely do, I didn't see anything wrong with the edits, the group website has all the publications etc. on it and some info on the research being done currently. Perhaps you should read [1] in the focus on content section. Tom Kean 05:48, 24 April 2008 (UTC) In your reply "I am certain there are many researchers doing scaffold-less TE research" well add them then, and a reference to back it up. you don't think scaffold free tissue engineering is interesting? Or targeting MSCs? Wikipedia should represent an up to date view of current research. Tom Kean 17:14, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok how in the hell did that happen? Thanks, I must have had the wrong window up when I did that. Æon Insanity Now! 17:25, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Patent scientist article

You're welcome! Though the article still needs some improvement. --Edcolins 19:38, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

you say your not an admin, so don't act like one

in your biography is says that you are not an admin and thus don't want people yelling at you. well, when you leave crap like this for others: "This is your only warning. The next time you make a personal attack as you did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Universal, you will be blocked for disruption. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. -Cquan (don't yell at me...) 00:12, 25 May 2007 (UTC)" or delete other comments you sure contradict your own statements.

first, you are not an admin, so don't talk to me like i have to treat you like one and don't make threats.

second, you SHOULDEN'T be commenting on content. if you read the top carefully it clearly says 'this is a DISCUSSION'. that is what i am doing. i am trying to discuss why these people want it deleted for no reason. they don't play the game and never have, so there is no reason for them to go out of there way and try to get it deleted for the hell of it.

third, its much easier and better to find out whats wrong with something and fix it instead of just being an ass and trying to get rid of it. hence the discussing

Deletion of Team BHP

I missed out the deletion discussion, and found some comments in the Articles for Deletion section. I have a few comments to make about Team-BHP, about why it is relevant

  • Indian Automobile industry has just taken off, and Team-BHP is the largest community there. Its not a club per se. It is an open forum with members from all corners of the country
  • Due to its 12000 members(which is huge considering the internet scene in India) it is also relevant to Indian automobile industry, with a few members being from the Auto sector/Auto Journalism sector
  • The forum is continuously growing, and as it encompasses the entire car subculture, not just a particular section, it is a very relevant topic
  • There are articles about groups like Hells Angels which is actually a auto club, so why not about a forum which has members from a large section of online car owners

Tsk1979 08:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your time

Sure will do that. Since the online participation of the Indian car owning populace is still quite low by internet standards, the references are few and far. Anyways will create a much more detailed and more accurate article with proper references etc., in my temp space and then ping you:

Cquan: I would like to add definitions to a couple restaurant concepts that are well know across the country, but they are speedly deleted. Why is it that similar restaurant concepts such as Smoothie King, KC Masterpiece, ect. are searchable on Wikipedia? I've been trying to add Shane's Rib Shack, Doc Green's Salads and Gourmet Grill and Planet Smoothie.

Thanks.

Thanks for your assistance here. DES (talk) 17:16, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Virtual Synchrony

Well, you seem like a reasonable person, and actually the policy makes sense too. I can understand why Wiki has it: jumping around I couldn't help noticing a lot of POV problems in technologies I know something about, where it looks like companies are behind the entries and are working hard to make sure they favor their own product lines. On the other hand, policies are made to be bent. I would much rather see someone edit the entry to remove POV that I didn't catch than to have someone tag it for deletion, which is a kind of hostile thing to do. It isn't so easy to write these things, after all. Having a person who uses a tag that says "don't yell at me" doing that didn't help -- it makes it look even more aggressive 'cause it sure sounds like you expected it to be perceived that way...

Personally, I think Wiki gets this one wrong. POV should be edited out by people who are neutral. But I would rather see a Wiki on string theory by Whitten, or by Briane Greene... even though these guys work in that area. At least they would know what they're talking about. Then if the Wiki says Whitten should get the Nobel Prize, well, someone could remove that, even if Whitten didn't write the line. But the content would still make more sense than if the page was created by, say, a High School kid based on some sort of pop-science view of string theory... Ken Birman(talk) 16:34, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

That was much more useful,[2] IMO, than a prod. But beware! People freak out about tags on their articles. Still, I should have thought of tagging the hell out of it, which it needs. Thanks. KP Botany 19:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
If you rip it to shreds, I promise not to rip you to shreds about doing so--it's unreadable, and the experts aren't coming to Wikipedia for expert insight (or if they are, I'm not hiring them!). KP Botany 19:11, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
To put it mildly. Put, heck, if he thinks I'm a moron, far be it for me to trample his beautiful prose underfoot. Interesting enough, Ken just un redlinked his user page, and I know one of his colleagues fairly well, a professor who doesn't think I'm a moron, sends me tear sheets of his latest publications, and asks me to get him speaking engagements since I'm so well connected. But I'm also rather busy with work, will get swamped next week, so probably shouldn't have offered to write the article. KP Botany 18:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I went through this before, when someone put up a crappy minor biography (Daniel Rodriguez) and three editors and an admin or two worked to make it a good article in the face of the owners telling us we were idiots every time we rewrote something to make it functional comprehensive English--the article is a nice small bio now. Ken has made it clear that no one in the world can write on his topic but him--so, he can have it. Some scientists can communicate knowledge to the lay public and want to, others can't and don't, oftentimes because of their attitude that science is a rarified arena for the few and incomprehensible to us peons. Corporate Creations

I've seen a LOT of SPAM, but that article was the most blatant I've ever seen. Kudos on the block - FINALLY! (LOL)Dougieb 02:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Corporate Creations is a valid company as well as a Big 4 registered agent. Corporate Creations is listed on every SOS site. I do not mean to offend anyone, just trying to get our information on this site as I use it on a personal level all the time. I am an officer of the company, so there should be no "Copy Right" issues. Please advise what it is I need to change. Jimsfins4 02:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

In all fairness, I checked, and CC is a real company it turns out, however they are not anywhere close to being one of the big four agents as Jimsfins sort of acknowledged by redacting this statement on other talk pages and I would still question the notability of CC for inclusion. Since he is an officer of the company, I can understand and appreciate his pride in it though. It just looked like a complete promo piece and had no business being an article as written. I told him that if he is able to give me some actual notability criteria that I'll do an article for him. Dougieb 17:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Cquan... On the Fortune article cited, this is not an article, but a special paid advertising section (see: [3]) - It is not an unpaid article in Fortune - ??? - I do not think this fits the criterion - not that they may not meet it elsewhere, but this article is not it. Also, I think that this other user TruthAndAccuracy may be sockpuppet. Check previous contribs - also, unreferenced edits/facts demonstrate a possible insider knowledge. I may be wrong - but your thoughts? Dougieb 21:22, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm confused, what is a "sockpuppet"? Also, as far as unreferenced edits / facts, any and all information is on the website which would mean that it's not insider information. Dougieb, even a list of the clients is on the web site as clear as day. Jimsfins4 21:38, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Ja, I'm looking into it. The Fortune "article" is very questionable though. I have a list of clients I pulled from a few different sources, but Wiki prohibits independent research. Anyway, let's see how this pans. Dougieb 22:17, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
LOL... you crack me up Cquan! I'm going to get out of this one as well if possible. I was not able to verify anything substantial either except that they are agent for Office Depot ;-) By the way, did you know they are minority owned? (LOL) Dougieb 23:56, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
C'mon Cquan, I'm sure that cuban-owned businesses are a very rare occurrence in Miami, FL. Dougieb 00:04, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
According to mapquest.com, Miami is located about 80 miles south of Palm Beach Gardens where few Cubans live. State records confirm that Corporate Creations provides registered agent services for the major companies listed at the Raves page of the Corporate Creations web site. The sockpuppet claim is inaccurate. I have been part of the Wikipedia community since last year. In fact, I pointed out last year that no legal professional in the country has ever used the term Big Four when referring to registered agent companies. I am glad that Dougieb finally stopped using that term in the Registered Agent article. Truthandaccuracy 11:40 pm EST, 5 June 2007.
I would hope that the sarcasm in the above comments is plainly evident. I have no comment on any sockpuppet claims (nor did I raise any...although maybe my alternate personality did in a parallel universe or something). At this point, if I never hear about this article again, I will be glad, so take whatever further comments/complaints to the AfD page...please! Cquan (after the beep...) 03:47, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
LOL... yes, that was sarcasm. I think i need to do an article on Palm Beach Gardens. I did note however that CC has an office in Miami - coincidence? (LOL) j/k. As for T&A's contributions, I don't know about the "part of the community" claim as I remember most of his contributions were vandalism. Everyone KNOWS who the Big Four are (LOL) - I (fortunately or unfortunately) occasionally work in the very very high-end of the legal industry and we have to work with the Big Four (fortunately or unfortunately), so I and people I have the fortune or disfortune to work with know the term well. ;-) My giving up on inclusion in the agent article was only because of futility, POV, SPAM and other defacements that I got tired of fixing - much like this article (LOL). Now I will have to do an article on Incorp, Paracorp ("Paracorp is the #1 registered agent owned by women! Women who have vaginas and were recognized for their vaginas in business (ref: see photo of vagina) - lol) , National Corporate Research, Capitol and the other 400 companies. I say we make Wikipedia a big registered agent directory and the service providers we could call the "Big 500". LOL. Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Dougieb 07:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Cquan, sorry about the "AFD war of 2007" driving you insane. Like me, my colleague Jim Perkins is a Wikipedia rookie. He made some honest mistakes with the article that I asked him to write. I hope you have recovered.  :) FrankRodriguez1963 20:34, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Frank, we were just kidding. It's not anything you need to apologize for. This was mild compared to some of the things on here. Please don't take of the sarcasm to heart. Dougieb 22:54, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

"...I have been part of the Wikipedia community since last year. "Corporate Creations is a valid company as well as a Big 4 registered agent. ..." Jimsfins4 02:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC) (Jimsfins4, an "Officer" of Corporate Creations [4]
Hmm... so... What T&A has been asserting is that Jimsfins4 KNOWS what he's talking about, but... well I just can't go on. I think this is self-evident. Dougieb 09:25, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

COI Templates.

Hi, I'm sending you a message because of your involvement with the Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2007_May_18#Template:COI_and_Template:COI2 discussion. The result of the TfD was no-consensus, but there was a significant expressed consensus for editing the templates to bring them into line with good practice. Unfortunately this has not happened, and the templates have been left pretty much in the state they were before the TfD. Would you like to assist in bringing these templates in line with good practice? --Barberio 16:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Kosigrim

Just for the record, I have had similar problems with Kosigrim tagging everything he could find from the articles listed on my user page (most of which had been on the main page with DYK). That was June 3 , 23.12 to 23.43. It has crossed my mind he might not be quite who he says he is. Judging by his talk-page he is not yet a very constructive user. Johnbod 22:52, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

FIITJEE and Vidyamandir classes

Hello. I reviewed your CSD request yesterday and, while I was skeptical of their suitability myself, I did note that Vidyamandir classes survived an AfD when it was in a much worse state than it is now. The spatula incident

That was accidental. I was busy editing the page, and I'd copied and reworded the content. I pressed save by accident whilst the box was empty.--Jcvamp 23:43, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm trying to create clarity by disambiguating the spatula article. The term spatula is used for so many things, and the main article focussed almost entirely on the type used for frying foods. If, indeed, spatulas used for mixing deserve a mention, I thought it would be best to mention it in a separate article. The spatula for frying is known as a 'fish slice' in the UK, but the other spatulas are still called spatulas. The way I was setting things out, the information would be clearer for both people in the US and UK.--Jcvamp 23:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi. University of Rochester Page Edits

I've spent a bit of time on and off account editing the University's wikipage. Some of the edit's I've made you've recently undone, and I've subseqently reimposed. I'll list the reasoning for my changes and why they should remain:

First, the consolidation of the "notable alumni" and "notable faculty" sections is both appropriate and efficient due to the current existence of only a single UR People wiki page. When pages for both alumni and faculty are created, it will become appropriate for there to be two subheadings for each link. Until such time, however, the merger of both headings should remain.

Secondly, regarding the changes to the housing section. I noticed that 1/5 of the Contents box was consisting of sub-sub-housing section titles, which is unnecessary and takes up a large amount of space. The Rochester page is noted for being very focused on housing and not on other University facets; indeed, the Housing section is three times the size of the academics section, a rarity and a smudge upon the scholarly nature of the article. The deemphasis of housing is key to the maintanence of a sense of professionalism regarding the page, so I found it necessary to (first) reorganize the housing section as not to clog the rest of the page. While Wikipedia's goal is to inform, it must only do so in a fluid, cohesive manner.

Thanks,

Conchuir (talk) 13:04, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Congrats for the job well done on the revisions to the UR page- better than I even had in mind. Continue the good deeds!
