Hi Dori,
I noticed you made a comment on the page Constantia Oomen. I changed the name of the page, because the name "Sten" isn't used anymore by me (Yes, I am the person this page is about). I have recently published a children's book under the name "Constantia Oomen" and will continue to use my baptismal name "Constantia". "Sten" was the name I used in The Netherlands, but my husband and I emigrated to the US and I do not use that name anymore. So I hope you understand, that I don't think the name "Sten" is appropriate in English Wikipedia. I am aware that I myself am changing this, but nobody else is doing it, and it needs to be fixed. Thanks!

- Actually, I didn't leave a message on Constantia Oomen yesterday; rather, I left a message on your talk page giving you some tips about how to handle editing when you have a conflict of interest—which you do, by your own admission. I strongly recommend that you read:
- I've now done some cleanup on your article, but I don't think that it passes WP:GNG or WP:AUTHOR without some better sourcing from verifiable and reliable secondary sources. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 00:59, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hello Dori, thanks for your work, but please notice. Some time ago references and resources were asked for, and there was put work in it. It was asked for by Wikipedians, and approved afterwards. Now you undo all this work, and that is counterproductive to Wikipedia's requirements. There wére a lot of resources and they all worked. I checked it. Now you simply remove them and say there is too little resource. It seems to me that you delete things and then ask for them, like they were not there. Please discuss something before removing it all. Thanks! For example: you removed my children's book which is an e-book. I thought we were living in modern times and e-books ware considered books as well. I don't see why you removed it, because there was no commercial link (!). You removed almost all references there were asked for the last time too, and this, again, is not the meaning of it all: asking for it, getting it, then removing it again, and asking for it like it wasn't given. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThroughTheWindow (talk • contribs) 05:27, 17 February 2012 (UTC) ~Constantia Oomen~

Beagle Edit
Hello Dori,
Thank you for the welcome to Wikipedia. I've been reading through the guidelines and thought my edit was ok, but I did receive the tag saying it looks like I'm advertising. I understand that, I'm just not sure how to proceed. I own and operate a small dog registry for pocket beagles that was founded in 1999. I am in the process of becoming a non-profit. I am not looking to advertise on Wikipedia but I posted the registry breed standard in hopes that the public would see that they are not extinct. If you could give me some advice on how to proceed that would be great. Thank you.

Great Guana Cay
Dori, Please consider putting back the information that I added. Since I have been to that island I added facts...I am not promoting any of those businesses and it's similar to the pages of other small islands in the Bahamas, such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elbow_Cay On such a small island there are not many facts that can be added and I referenced information from the government's tourism site. The restaurants and bars are major factors in the character of small out islands. I did not see the need to remove all of my edit as I corrected a couple of items and it's not any more promotional than the previous edits by a blog and a campaign against a development. This was my first edit on Wiki and was just adding helpful information.
Please advise, Grant Beach Dream (talk) 18:50, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Dunno about how things are in the Bahamas, but here on WP, adding the line "The body of water between – a turquoise nirvana for those boaters and sailors – is the calm, shallow Sea of Abaco" is definitely considered promotional. And that isn't even the most egregious part of what you added to Great Guana Cay. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 05:59, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Aramis Knight
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Aramis Knight. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have particular issues with the article please discuss that on either my talk page or the talk page of the article in question. Blanking sections of text is not helpful for readers, nor does it aid in editing and expanding the article.Booth088 (talk) 05:20, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- You have removed the sources at the bottom of the tables for the article Aramis Knight. I will once again replace the IMDB references, since these are considered a reliable, and readable source for this for this field. (By blanking, I am referring to removing sourced material, and removing sources to remaining material and then subsequently claiming that the article lacks reliable third party sources (when the article had been approved as a draft and moved by another user after having been determined to have the qualities that you claim it lacks))
- In removing the sources from the bottom of the tables, and replacing them only sparsely in a few locations in the table: 1. Adds unnecessary clutter (Please see Wikipedia:REF#Avoiding_clutter) 2. leaves information unsourced now that was previously sourced.
- I would encourage you to bring up any concerns on the talk page and refrain from draconian actions on this or any other article. Therefore, I have once again re-edited the page. I have retained the BLP sources Tag, and replaced sources that you have removed, and replaced material that was sourced and removed.
- Please also refer to WP:AVOIDEDITWAR Booth088 (talk) 20:53, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- Why, thank you so much for welcoming me to Wikipedia! Sadly, though, you're about seven years and ten thousand edits late.
- To help you catch up a little, I recommend you read:
- WP:Don't template the regulars:
sticking to "did you know we had a policy here" mentality tends to be counter-productive in resolving the issue, as it can be construed as being patronizing and uncivil
- IMDB as a reliable source:
The IMDb should be regarded as a questionable source, especially for future films. Its content is user-submitted and often subject to incorrect speculation and rumor. The use of the IMDb on Wikipedia for referencing is considered unacceptable and strongly discouraged. Reliable sourcing from established publications cannot be stressed enough. Anonymous or pseudonymous sources from online fansites are generally not acceptable.
- Search for 'IMDb' on the Reliable sources noticeboard - 66 results, approximately none of which think that IMDb counts as a reliable source.
- WP:REF#Repeated_citations says:
The following paragraph, WP:REF#Avoiding_clutter, says:For multiple use of the same citation or footnote, you can also use the named references feature, choosing a name to identify the citation, and typing <ref name="name">text of the citation</ref>. Thereafter, the same footnote may be reused any number of times by typing just <ref name="name" />.
That is, it refers to cleaning up clutter in terms of what's seen in the edit window, not what's seen on the article page—so for repeated citations, named references (i.e., what I used) are perfectly acceptable.Inline references can significantly bloat the wikitext in the edit window and can be extremely difficult and confusing. There are three methods that avoid clutter in the edit window: list-defined references, short citations or parenthetical references.
- WP:Manual of Style/Record charts was the only MOS page I could find that explicitly refers to citations within a table; if you look at their examples, they're not just perfectly acceptable, they're required ("references should be individual and specific to each chart that is being used. Sources per column or table are insufficient.").
- BTW, using a footnote at the end of a table means that the source covers everything in the table. Which clearly is not the case here; making those edits fall into what's generally considered to be sneaky vandalism.
- Blanking:
Which was clearly not the case, thank you. Nothing significant was removed, and no nonsense was added (at least not by me).Removing all or significant parts of a page's content without any reason, or replacing entire pages with nonsense.
- And so on, and so on.
- WP:Don't template the regulars:
- Really, stop with the accusations, and learn something about how WP works. First. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 05:59, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

As well as other things (I have asked another user to step in for support as well here), citing a birth date is not necessary. It is not potentially defamatory. Also not every fact or line needs a citation, even for BLP articles. -Aaron Booth (talk) 00:09, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Clarification
Regarding the Given Lubinda page, isn't news that a minister of a country bungee jumped from the number 1 tourist attraction in the country useful information for his profile page on Wikipedia?
By removing this sentence "Given Lubinda, made a bungee jump from the Victoria Falls to reassure visitors of the safety of bungee jumping in Zambia after a rope snapped sending Australian Erin Langworthy plunging into the Zambezi River." from the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Given_Lubinda page this information is now not available to anyone.
I'd like to ensure that I do not violate any link spam issues, but how does one add potentially useful information about a person and still provide a reference to the source article for this information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheZambian (talk • contribs) 13:26, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

I see two problems here: (a) the username User:TheZambian is the same as the organisation/website http://thezambian.com/, which is against WP:CORPNAME policy on usernames, and (b) we don't know whether TheZambian is a Reliable Source - there is no Wikipedia article about it and it does not seem to have been discussed at Reliable Sources Noticeboard. Hi Dori,
I'm writing you regarding the page i'm creating for our documentary film on Wikipedia. I am the owner of the copyright, the director, writer and producer of the film and we are in the process of creating a wikipedia page for our film using the film's synopsis, plot, artwork, etc. (all intellectual property is owned and created by me) and we've hit a snag in that we've been flagged for speedy removal. - Hi Dori,
- I've read everything over and it appears that there are rules for COI editors of which I guess in some way I fall into that category but, I'm confused: you either encourage or discourage COI editors?
- (Ref: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest: COI editing is strongly discouraged. When editing causes disruption to the encyclopedia through violation of policies such as neutral point of view, what Wikipedia is not, and copyright compliance, accounts may be blocked. COI editing also risks causing public embarrassment for the individuals and groups being promoted.[1] Editors with COIs are strongly encouraged—but not actually required—to declare their interests, both on their user pages and on the talk page of the related article they are editing, particularly if those edits may be contested.)
- I'm being genuine and not trying to self promote in the least. These are all facts being provided on this website, pertinent to a micro-budget documentary film and I have examined other film pages on wikipedia like Paradise Lost, The Vow and Human Centipede for example and I am simply trying to create an accurate, factual page open for editing by others. There is no limit to information neither do I have a desire to create a conflict. All edits done by me are in good faith and in no way is the page trying to distort Wikipedia.
- What else do you suggest I do?
- I thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

- Like you, I'm just another editor here—I'm not an admin or staff member. My take is that you created the article by copying information that you'd already published elsewhere and pasting that into the new article form, and that counts as a copyright violation. But I'm certainly not in charge of anything, and can't offer any kind of official "You Should Do This" recommendation. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 05:25, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

My posting was not intended to be promotion, but does provide links to the largest on-line repository of information in relation to the aircraft operated by these two services under the RAF/EATS Article XV agreement and is a ser.
I would appreciate your feedback and advice on how best to make this information avialble to Wikipedia users without appearing to be promtional.

Sosua Virtual Museum is a non profit virtual museum. We don't advertise. The sole intention of adding the link to the Holocaust Museum is becuase it is the same topic. Our Museum ONLY has information about the holocaust survivors and the photos are not actual. All photos were taken 1940 - 1980. We don't advertise hotels etc like other links you have listed in external links. We are serious and deserve to be seen by any person interested in the Holocaust. My parents lived in Sosua and died there. You can read the story of them and of other holocaust survivors in our website. www.sosuamuseum.org. Go to the Settlers tab and look for last name Schwarz. Unhelpful tag-bombing
Your tag-bombing of the new article, Badar uz Zaman, seems over-the-top and not helpful. Have you read WP:OVERTAGGING? I agree there are still some minor problems with this article, but I have spent quite some time helping the author (whose first language probably isn't English) cleaning up the article. If you're not willing to explain your tag-bombing on the article's Talk page, I'll be left with no choice but to remove some or all of the tags.
For example, there is only one bare URL, so it is hardly a major problem. As far as I can see I corrected the mis-use of capital letters, so I don't agree this is a major problem either. Thankyou. Sionk (talk) 01:27, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- I've given a full rationale at Talk:Badar uz Zaman. I don't believe that it's tag bombing if each issue is a distinct problem that needs to be fixed (and btw, there were three bare URLs, not one). Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 02:43, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- There are issues, I am further explaining references and correcting the issues ,as it is my 1st article and some of the references are too old, I just have the Press cuttings of the newspapers so i am adding them to the citations. For citation 21, it has been corrected as it was not The Nation US Magazine, it was The Nation (Pakistani newspaper). Regards Umerali2204 (talk) 07:02, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- Great! That will help a lot. BTW, I suggest you take a look at the
{{cite news}}
template, as your citations would be much clearer if you used a standard format. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 09:40, 8 March 2012 (UTC)- Thanks for Guiding.Umerali2204 (talk) 12:59, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Page Triage newsletter
Hey guys!
Thanks to all of you who have commented on the New Page Triage talkpage. If you haven't had a chance yet, check it out; we're discussing some pretty interesting ideas, both from the Foundation and the community, and moving towards implementing quite a few of them :).
In addition, on Tuesday 13th March, we're holding an office hours session in #wikimedia-office on IRC at 19:00 UTC (11am Pacific time). If you can make it, please do; we'll have a lot of stuff to show you and talk about, including (hopefully) a timetable of when we're planning to do what. If you can't come, for whatever reason, let me know on my talkpage and I'm happy to send you the logs so you can get an idea of what happened :). Regards, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:56, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi Dori
Thanks for contacting me. With regards my "Gahame" I can confirm that "houseofnames" have it on there website as a variant of "Mag Eeachain"
Following on from this I have also been in touch with the Ireland Herald and can confirm that "Gahame" is indeed a variant of "Mag Eeachain" along with Gahgan Gagham and Gahan.
I hope that this is ok now. I have added house of names as a reliable source.
If you feel that I need to add more then please do let me know.
On a final note the website is fantastic.
Regards

- "House of Names" is not considered to be a reliable source, according to the Reliable sources/Noticeboard in general, and the discussions at WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 70#Steven L. Akins (aka Akins of that Ilk) and WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 82#Family website and geneology sites in particular.
- I've reverted the changes made by 2.219.229.170 (talk) (who I'm assuming is you). Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 23:27, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Please delete the entry for : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Dillon and please replace with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Dillon_(designer_and_artist) as they are the same entry. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beadillon (talk • contribs) 12:15, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- At the moment, Jane Dillon (designer and artist) is simply a redirect to Jane Dillon, so I'm not sure what it is you're requesting. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 23:27, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage newsletter
Hey all!
Thanks to everyone who attended our first office hours session; the logs can be found here, if you missed it, and we should be holding a second one on Thursday, 22 March 2012 at 18:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office. I hope to see you all there :).
In the meantime, I have greatly expanded the details available at Wikipedia:New Page Triage: there's a lot more info about precisely what we're planning. If you have ideas, and they aren't listed there, bring them up and I'll pass them on to the developers for consideration in the second sprint. And if you know anyone who might be interested in contributing, send them there too!

I am new on wikipedia I will read the guidelines. I need some direction on how to create a document or articles on a specific subject. Thanks Yves Mayrand (talk) 02:06, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Need some advice.
Hi.
I need some advice on the following issue. An editor keeps posting warnings on my talk page, even through I am not violating the guidelines. I blanked my page (Which is alowed under Wikpedia user pages policy) and the editor keeps posting warnings. I posted a level 1 warning on the editor's page as I consider his editing of my talk page disruptive.
What can I do about this issue? I don't want to get into an edit warring over my talk page with the Editor.
The editor in question is: User:NCISfan2
206.248.123.79 (talk) 21:39, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- He's a piece o' work, ain't he? So far as I can see, you have two options:
- Request assistance at WP:Wikiquette assistance.
- Ignore him.
- Overall, I recommend just going with the latter. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 22:47, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Dori. Yes definitely he is quite a piece of work. I really can't tell what his purpose is. I will just ignore him and if his obsessive behavior continues ask for assistance on Wikiquette.
- Also I was seeing his talk page and in the help incidents mentioned, on number 5 when he requested IP bloking is my IP. The editor he "helped" actually received a Mod warning for breaking the 3 revert rule on that same incident.
- Have a nice day 206.248.123.79 (talk) 13:05, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
