Pinehouse

[edit]

Hello! Regarding the AFd for the photography club, you will not win any friends by soliciting new users (IP editors in this case) to come to vote there, if that is what is happening. Please also lay back on the comments. Arguing with experienced editors is a but pointless if you are new, as the experienced editors have been to hundreds or thousands of these discussions. See also WP:BADGERING. You actually don't need to argue it: there are lots of sources and it will very likely be kept. The above actions do not help your cause though.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:12, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I was just following talk about about how to have editors review and make a page better. I dont care about "votes" as I do about making the page improved. Thank you for your help! Not having so much about therapeutic photography makes sense. Maybe I can make a page about just that? --Dreerwin (talk) 16:16, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be a great idea if it does not already exist. Go back int he history for pinehouse and copy the material that I just deleted. I deleted it because we have a policy that about material that is in scope: we do not hang other material on a topic like a WP:COATRACK. Welcome to Wikipedia. Lots of people make big mistakes at the beginning, but you are obviously a good editor so be persistent! And no more COI please.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:19, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I do really appretiate your help and honesty! Have a good day! --Dreerwin (talk) 16:21, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I started a draft for you and pasted in the material that you had in PPC. If you work on it and let me know when it is done, I can publish it or give you advice on how to make it better.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:24, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OMG your awesome! But I didnt see how to save it as a draft oops..can that be undone? therapeutic Photography --Dreerwin (talk) 16:29, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You just edit it like a regular article. Wikpedia has different page "spaces". The page we are talking on is in "talk space". The draft is in "draft space". When the draft is ready it can be moved over to "article space", which means it is visible to the world!ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:31, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I copied the draft and edited it a bit - obviously need some work but then I published it without knowing how to save draft..until now :( --Dreerwin (talk) 16:33, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We'll see if that lasts in main space. You might want to slow down a bit. keep working on the article in main space, but start in draft space before you publish to article space in future.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:40, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
can u link Pinehouse Photogoraphy Club to Therapeutic Photography for me please? --Dreerwin (talk) 16:55, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You're the founder of Pinehouse photography, so you should avoid editing it or taking a wiki interest in it from here on in. WP:COI still applies.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 17:23, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I wont respond or make any further posts to have it worked on then, especially by myself. Agreed. --Dreerwin (talk) 17:26, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You can still ask for edits, but in general an excessive interest in one article over others, especially with COI, will not earn you points here. There are 5 million other articles to work on though! Pick a topic.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 17:31, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Original writing

[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if you could tell me how much of the two articles you created yesterday was copy/pasted directly from the sources, and how much of the copy you had to write from scratch? Just curious.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:15, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening. It took me 2-3 full days looking for sources and putting them together. Most of the sources said basically the same things but all that was taken was cited according. --Dreerwin (talk) 03:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! yes I can see it was a lot of work. what I mean is did you write it yourself or copy sections from the articles?ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:33, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The page has been up fore a week or a bit more now. Like I said I published too quick and that's why it got nominated for deletion. So Ive been spending all this time looking for resources, references, and trying to avoid any coi in editing. Def wasn't copy and paste but it was all referenced citing most sources were just saying the same thing in different ways. I def didnt get paid to do any of this as I am still learning. All I have been wanting to do is get good editors on here to help perfect the page sort of speak, like everyone who has been helping especially lately..thank you --Dreerwin (talk) 03:37, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I found many sections that were directly copy pasted. I am guessing that it was all copy pasted. Honesty helps. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:43, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was told because of COI I wasn't encouraged to write too much because of bias. A lot of references were used from what people said, and what some that was written. It wasn't all copy and pasted 100% know that and everything was references and cited. Then I looked for help on discussion boards to help change up the wording because I wasn't supposed to because of COI that anything I write would be biased. I hope you understand what Im saying here..I was reaching out for help to make the page better. I posted the page to a lot of placed on here asking for editing assistance. Sorry for any confusion --Dreerwin (talk) 03:48, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How much was directly copied? As far as I can see only a few words were changed here and there.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:59, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

It was nice talking to you. I know you were well intentioned, but you broke a LOT of rules! I would suggest taking a local college course on how to write Wikipedia articles.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 04:03, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Same here! I know you were just doing your job and doing a good one at that! I just wanted to get this page done and done well..43,000 people who follow my photography page to help edit the page was a big no no and I have to pay the price for that :( ps: I never asked anyone for votes or whatever...tbh I wasn't even worried about that part; it was the page itself. Take care! --Dreerwin (talk) 04:24, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You had COI, hid it, used multiple accounts to vote at AFD, directly copy-pasted articles fromt he sources... I am trying to think of a rule you did not break. And you asked 43,000 people to be sockpuppets! Unblocking your account would be a really bad idea, until you acquire the competence to edit here. Anyway it was nice talking to you.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 04:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
asked them for editing help thats it. But what's done is done - learn the hard way I suppose. Guess the club wasnt worthy of wiki and as a apprent coi I wasnt able to say anymore. All good thanks again and take care! --Dreerwin (talk) 04:34, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It was these things: 1. Copy-pasting an article from the source. We do not do that, it is a copyright violation. Having a conflict of interest. Hiding the conflict of interest. Creating multiple accounts to edit the article. Using the multiple accounts to trick people into thinking you are different people at AFD. Soliciting 43,000 people to come to the AFD as "meatpuppets". More or less. Have a good night.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 04:38, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
ThatMontrealIP (talk) I just hope the page can be saved and worked on by editors like yourself who might see the notability of this club. Thanks for helping me learn the hard way...learning is learning right :)--Dreerwin (talk) 14:02, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am an new user and I wanted to create a page about the hard work and effort of youth in the Pinehouse Photography Club. I started the page very unfinished and didnt realize I should have saved it as a draft first. It went up for deletion and I got worried. Worried I didnt know how to edit a wiki page with html well. As a photographer with over 43,000 not connected in anyway to this club - people from USA, Canada, all over the world - I posted the link to the club on wiki and asked if anyone could help edit the page and make it better. I was told because of COI because I started the club I couldn't edit the page anymore, so I asked them for help, all 43,000 of them. Not for pay or for any reason but to edit the page and ensure it was done correctly. I know why the page went up for deletion...there was nothing really done yet..barely any references.

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or

A tag has been placed on Pinehouse Photography Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.pinehousepc.com/pinehouse-photography-club. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Diannaa 🍁 (talk) From asking around, looks like the page from wiki was copied by the club director and posted on their web page, not the other way around. It was a mirror. Is there no way to identify that it was written on wiki? Regardless I obviously didn't know the rules and unfortunately this had to happen. Because of my COI, I sure hope someone understands why a nurse who sees youth with depression/suicide/addiction in a rural north community would want to share the clubs accomplishments wrong or right, so others can see what works...so other youth can be saved an helped this way. Other organizations might way to start their own club like this. It was my way of advocating for all the youth going through depression and what not or thinking about suicide. Alone, cut down a kid hanging from a tree in middle of the night, or walk into a room with brain matter all over the walls, and you too will understand why creating this page was so important. What the club is doing is so important. Mistakes were made and I know them now. Hopefully some day I'll get a chance to prove that I know them. My wish someone else would create the club page again :( Thank you and my apologizes. --Dreerwin (talk) 13:32, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dreerwin

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Velella and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Therapeutic photography, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Velella}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
