A tag has been placed on Adoption detective, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. GILO   A&E 21:33, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The page Adoption Detective: Memoir of an Adopted Child has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be blatant advertising which only promotes something, and which is unlikely to be suitable for an article (or at best would need a fundamental rewrite). Wikipedia is not a medium for promotion of anything, whether a company, product, group, service, person, religious or political belief, or anything else. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. September 2011[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Vacuity, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Vacuity was changed by Erikjmartin (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.924262 on 2011-09-26T17:53:25+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 17:53, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on First Lilac Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

August 2012[edit]

Thank you for your edit to the disambiguation page Nefarious. However, please note that disambiguation pages are not articles; rather, they are meant to help readers find a specific article quickly and easily. From the disambiguation do's and don'ts, you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, which should not end with punctuation
  • Use only one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry, and avoid red links
  • Do not pipe links—keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links

Thank you. It is almost never necessary to include a dictionary definition; that's what the link to Wiktionary is for.Darkwind (talk) 23:25, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lycée jaccard requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://lyceejaccard.com/userpage.php?page_id=11. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Creating new articles[edit]

Hello, I saw your note. A good place to create new articles where they will not be deleted quickly is articles for creation. Alternatively, you can request that an article be created by someone else here. Hopes this helps. I am going to request deletion of the talk page note you created, for the sake of site maintenance. You will still be welcome to create an article at articles for creation when that page gets deleted. Thank you. --Jprg1966 (talk) 18:27, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Erikjmartin. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Lycée Jaccard School, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Itsalleasy (talk) 19:17, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

More advice[edit]

I also saw your note. In its present state your article will just be deleted again. I will "userfy" it for you - move it into a page in your user space where you can work on it. I will give you more advice here, but it may take a little time because (a) I am in the throes of a family Christmas and (b) I have only an iPad to edit from which is slower. Watch this space, and in the meantime read:

...and yet more[edit]

I have userfied your article to User:Erikjmartin/Lycée Jaccard School, but I see that you have another version at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Lycée Jaccard. Clicking the "Submit" link on either of those, when it is ready, will send it to WP:Articles for creation, where an experienced user will review it and either accept it or give you feedback. It is best not to have multiple versions floating about, so I suggest you choose which one you will develop and let me know, and I will delete the other to avoid possible confusion.

The most important issue is WP:Notability. That is Wikipedia's name for its inclusion criterion. It is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about?

Take care not to write in a promotional tone. Wikipedia requires a neutral point of view, and is very sensitive to attempts to use it for advertising or promotion. As the school is no longer operating, that is less of a danger, but do not let your enthusiasm as an Old Boy show!

One of your earlier versions was deleted as a cooyright violation. Wikipedia cannot accept copied material without a formal copyright release (see WP:DCM) from the actual copyright holder. It is almost always better to write in your own words.

For general advice, see WP:Your first article and WP:Writing better articles. Don't worry too much about format and layout to start with, they can be sorted out later: the first thing to get right is references to show notability.

Hello Erikjmartin. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Lycée Jaccard".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Lycée Jaccard}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 19:11, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
