A tag has been placed on Alta Vista Gardens requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I think the article should be okay from being delisted. In comparison to other botanical gardens pages it has nearly 3 x the references and secondary sources. Ive had some help listing the article on a wiki project so it should get more attention and work for improvement. For now id let the community see if they can improve it. The thing is in an AFD the more consensus there is to keep an article the better chances that there is to save it. Consider a AFD an article review at times; it motivates change and improvement. The main concern was originally Conflict of interests, notability. Weve addressed both of those (or did our best to). The article now has secondary sourcing, and a independendt person has reviewed it and made neutral corrections. I personally think it should be okay (but im not a wiki admin, and ultimately it will be their choice) happy editing. Ottawa4ever (talk) 14:29, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Ive had a considerable amount of help on this one. But what ive found is that you can be allowed to replace instances of your name with <name redacted> . I must warn you though that in the page history of the article your name will still appear, however it wont be visible on the main talk page unless someone is digging into the page history. There is a more complicated measure involving oversight but might take more time to look into. Is replacing your name in the text okay with you? Ottawa4ever (talk) 18:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

referencing and a few other things

[edit]
Sorry to be a pain a few things you need to keep in mind. When you want to add a source to an article type this exactly as you see, <ref> enter sourece or website here </ref> . Also make sure to check to see if your formatting makes sense after you add an addition. You can always experiment on your user page (I often practice there) or by practicing at wikipedia:Sandbox. Also try visiting a few other botanical pages and seeing if theres anything that can be contributed. With your knowledge on this subject it may be a great help for other articles (or if any ideas come to mind). The most important thing to keep in mind right now. Is that the Alta Vista Article is still up for deletion. The community still needs to decide on this. The primary reason for it being added is for conflict of interest and for secondary sourcing. Most of this has been addressed, but when you add any text you have to make sure it doesnt come accross this way against these things. I would suggest reading Wikipedia:Conflict of interest to understand why at wiki its such a serious thing. Hope this information helps. I agree that the article is important and I dont want to see it deleted. Good luck and happy editing Ottawa4ever (talk) 22:41, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Tree of life garden

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Tree of life garden, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non-notable garden, unreferenced, POV article. Fails WP:VER, WP:N, WP:POV

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. andy (talk) 16:19, 10 July 2009 (UTC) Feldmoves (talk) 18:37, 11 July 2009 (UTC)I am working on adding content and relevance to this article.[reply]
