This depresses me

I like you, Greg, despite your very eccentric track record here. I am sorry, though, that I can no longer trust your word about self reform. It grieves me that you can not, perhaps will not, understand that your edits your creation of articles, are problematic, and cause work for others.

I am unable to vote other than to support a site block for you. I believe that block is inevitable.

I imagine that you will appeal that block successfully in the fulness of time. I hope you achieve that, and hope fervently that you will work here correctly thereafter. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 19:33, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

Timtrent, thanks for writing to me. You have in the past had support for me. Now you seem to have turned, perhaps by listensing to others rather than what you know is true. You can trust me if you find it in your heart and read the many articles I've created. They were created with the love of writing about interesting places and people. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes. However, true friendship and good relationships come out of turst and understanding that I have the ability to reform and improve. If you truly believe that my intention are good, then I need your support and vote "No" to ban me. That should not be the outcome in a win-win trustful partnership that we have in Wikipedia. Please read Criticism of Wikipedia and realize we need to work together and not fall into the criticism and not tursting each other. Thanks you for past postive remarks. I do appreciate them more than some of the harsh words from others. Greg Henderson (talk) 22:56, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
I cannot accede to your request. While I understand that you have the ability to reform and improve you do not do those things even though you insist that you have. Reform is throwing a switch, not minor increments. It is on, or off. Your track record shows that I cannot trust you, even though I like you. I suggest you work with your local history site and your love of local history. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:04, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
My track record should show that you can trust me. Look at what I've done, not what people have pointed out. My track record is 400+ articles and the ability to write about things that really matter. Sure, I've made some mistakes, but the mistakes are pale in comparison with what I have learned and achieved with Wikipedia as a tool There is nothing like it! You should learn to trust the people you like, not hurt them. Greg Henderson (talk) 23:20, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
At risk of prolonging the pain you are suffering, your mistakes are not corrected, your ways are not changed. I am looking at no-one's experience with you except my own and have learned that for myself, painfully. When I look outside my direct experience and compare it with others I see congruent issues.
You have left it too late to change, now, and are about to lose an interesting hobby by your own actions of not playing by the rules. You could have thrown the switch of reform at any point, but have chosen to deflect, to delay, to obfuscate, to dissemble, to re-litigate, to filibuster. Now the switch of reform appears to be about to be taken from you.
When you like someone you speak to them of their faults. I have done so gently, assertively, forcefully, and yet you will not change, have not changed. In real life, were we to encounter each other, I hope I might still call you a friend; if you worked for me I would terminate your employment citing wilful incompetence, friend or not.
I am truly sorry that you are experiencing this process. Yet you have caused it to happen. You have delayed it but cannot stop it. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 07:16, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
I am suprised that you would say such harsh things about me. Any mistakes I made do not warrent kicking me out of "club" of deletionists. See Deletionism and inclusionism in Wikipedia. Instead of helping my situation, you've made it worse. See Criticism of Wikipedia. You call me a friend, yet you're advocating for my removal. I'm far from incompetent—I have a family, worked for 40 years before I retiring, and have written over 400 Wikipedia pages. Perhaps my prolific contributions have ruffled a few feathers. You have played a role in this ban. I plan to archive this discussion as I don't want to revisit it. Goodbye. Greg Henderson (talk) 15:58, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
You must do what you must do, as must I. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:59, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

@Timtrent:, this wouldn't be a new article. It's an attempt to recreate a page that was previously created and deemed non-notable and deleted by AfD. Graywalls (talk) 21:53, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
@Timtrent, I kindly suggest that you read the talk page for the draft, the previous AfD, as well as all the comments (and declines) on the draft page by multiple editors and admins. This article and draft has wasted many, many hours of editors, reviewers and admin's time; the very definition of a time sink. It is highly problematic. Additionally, COI/UPE evidence has been forwarded to an administrator who then forwarded the evidence upwards to functionaries. I fully understand your commitment to kindness, however it is not net-productive to continue to encourage/enable the creator regarding this draft. Netherzone (talk) 23:59, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
I assure you, there was not WP:UPE on my part. I just wanted to see a photographer recognized for all his work. I am sorry that I put you through any wasted hours. It was important for me to tell his story via an article on Wikipedia. The only COI was talking to the Monterey County Historical Society and researching Lewis Josselyn as a photographer of Carmel. Looking ahead

Hi Greg. Having edited with you in the past, I'm sad to see you in this position. However, indefinite does not mean infinite and there is a path forward here. I would strongly encourage you to contribute at other Wikimedia projects; it would highly benefit any future unban request if you have a strong track-record of positive contributions at Commons, or at Wikisource, or at a different language Wikipedia, etc. And remember: no one has doubted your passion and your desire to contribute. Curbon7 (talk) 04:13, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

Curbon7, thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to me. I think many of my articles did not meet the notability scale, which caused a lot of problems with me defending them. You are right, I can contribute to other Wikimedia projects. I really enjoy creating the Common categories along with Wikidata. Wikisource is also a great place to contribute. In a year, I'll be able to appeal my block, so I'll hope for the best. The important thing is to know that these are only bumps in the road to a better and stronger future. Thanks again, and good luck with your future as well. Greg Henderson (talk) 14:51, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

I also think that if we see another UTRS appeal before then, it would be reasonable to reset the one-year appeal period. This extreme WP:IDHT behavior has got to stop. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 23:33, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
@Just Step Sideways can you please also remove email access? I just received an email from Greg about my decline of Draft:Alexander J. Stark below asking me to reconsider. S0091 (talk) 16:09, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
I will do that and will also be resetting the appeal window to start from today. This block may now not be appealed until August 25 2025. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 17:34, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
User can request restoration of talk page access after he is eligible via UTRS for community ban appeal. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:30, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Redirects

@Left guide: Please stop redirecting articles I've written to List of Historic Buildings in Carmel-by-the-Sea. It seem wrong to do this without first going through the WP:AFD. Greg Henderson (talk) 15:36, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

I recognise that this is a simple request, but it is possible to view this as WP:PROXYING, which I doubt is your intention. Please take care to do nothing which may prejudice any future appeal. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:39, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. In reading "proxying" it says: "Editors in turn are not permitted to post or edit material at the direction of a banned or blocked editor (sometimes called proxy editing or proxying) unless they are able to show that the changes are productive and they have independent reasons for making such edits.
To me this would mean an editor who is posting text towards to me.
My intention was to send a message to Left guide who is redirecting articles that should first go through the WP:AFD nomination process before essentially delteting them through a redirection. Greg Henderson (talk) 16:49, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
I think you misunderstand somewhat, and need to read it again. But may I suggest not debating the point and simply raising your awareness of the pitfalls to avoid to make sure you signal only good intentions throughout the period while you are unable to appeal 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:55, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Greg, please listen to what Timtrent is telling you. I know it is difficult but these articles and what happens to them is not your concern now. If they are deleted or re-directed you can address that if or when you are allowed to edit again. It is going to be imperative that you find other projects to work on like commons or another language wiki (if that is an option). Most of all you need to not be here damaging the potential for a successful appeal when the time is right to request one from the community. --ARoseWolf 19:59, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
@Greghenderson2006 if an editor disagrees with the redirect, they're welcome to undo @Left guide's edits. You do not currently have standing and I suggest avoiding editors to take any action on your behalf or you risk losing access to edit this talk page. Star Mississippi 01:28, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
I understand what you are saying and agree that I need to be careful as to what I say and do to not risk further action. However, one last thing I would like to say is that I think it is unfair that a single editor, without consensus, can delete (redirect) the following pages within just a few days after I have been blocked: Richardson Log Cabin, Murphy Barn, Carmel Fire Station, Carmel Weavers Studio, Goold Building, La Rambla Building, Lemos Building, Mary Dummage Shop, T.A. Oakes Building, The Tuck Box, Sundial Lodge, Seven Arts Building, Schweninger Building, Seven Arts Shop, Sade's, Seaburst House, Amelia L. Gates, Paul Flanders, Delos Goldsmith, Fletcher Dutton, Pine Inn, Reardon Building, Normandy Inn, Monterey County Trust & Savings Building, Los Laureles Lodge, Blue Bird Tea Room, Devendorf Park, Michael J. Murphy, Frederick R. Bechdolt, Newman Post Card Co., Charles O. Goold, Inchling, Ernest Bixler. Greg Henderson (talk) 22:16, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
You owe that entirely to yourself. And now I find myself defending some of your edits, on Ira Mallory Remsen, which is really difficult because the articles you created are such a diffuse mess. On top of that, you're socking and evading this block?? Drmies (talk) 13:14, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
I know it's a bit late for me saying this, but editors don't have to put articles through AfD before turning them into redirects. It's called being bold. Discussion is not a prerequisite for merging, splitting of pages or converting them to redirects. — AP 499D25 (talk) 05:06, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
