Teahouse talkback: you've got messages![edit]

Hello, Hans RayBan. Your question has been answered at the Teahouse Q&A board. Feel free to reply there!
Please note that all old questions are archived after 2-3 days of inactivity. Message added by Nick Moyes (talk) 12:16, 28 March 2019 (UTC). (You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{teahouse talkback}} template).[reply]

Brunei block[edit]

Brunei is a semi-protected article (the lock symbol at upper right) meaning that very new editors are blocked from editing. It is a low-level anti-vandalism precaution. Your approach - leaving a statement and a URL at Talk, was the right thing to do. Wiht more of an editing history you will gain more rights. David notMD (talk) 01:07, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your thread has been archived[edit]

Deleting sources[edit]

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. I have challenged several of your edits to Heal's, please respond there about these. As is common practice, I have looked at some of your other edits. In JCB Co., Ltd. you deleted several references on the basis that they are primary sources. Primary sources are better than no sources, and in my view you should not have deleted these but instead tagged them with {{Primary source inline}}. I have now done this. In Made.com you deleted a reference to a BBC News source. This is a reliable source that names the founder of the business. Please do not delete sources without a good reason, if they are poor sources it is usually better to tag them, possibly with one of the Inline citation and verifiability dispute templates. I have not yet reviewed your other edits to Made.com. Regards, Verbcatcher (talk) 05:14, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

And please don't be too quick to delete what you describe as 'Black hat spam links'. These may be good-faith attempts to add sources by inexperienced editors. Please follow the link and if it is a useful source convert it to a conventional citation, tagging it if appropriate. Verbcatcher (talk) 05:33, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Distributed (company) for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Distributed (company) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Distributed (company) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The page Draft:Nexus Underwriting Management has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. kingboyk (talk) 10:33, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. As a member of WikiProject LGBT studies, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.

We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.
