You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Richard Ewald Arentz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.dickarentz.com/biography/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:26, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies! I thought this was my sandbox! I kept seeing the phrase "Draft article not currently submitted for review. This is a draft Articles for creation submission. It is not currently pending review. There are no deadlines as long as you are actively improving the submission. Drafts not being improved may be deleted after six months."

I had no idea ANYONE was going to be seeing this Diannaa, so for that reason I thought it was the perfect place to put my references while I collected my thoughts and started writing the article!

Note that copyright text can't be hosted anywhere on wikipedia, including sandboxes and drafts, and anything you post can be seen immediately Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:34, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I know now, but as a professional software developer going 21 years the word "sandbox" has a different meaning in most contexts. I won't say "all" contexts, and yes I understand Wikipedia has it's own workflow, procedures and etiquette. Still, you must be able to understand how this could be an honest mistake. After all, I'm trying to join the wiki community which I hope tells you I'm just as devoted to truth via documentation as ANYONE else. Sorry I'm getting defensive here, but to call me a plagiarizer or a cheater is like calling a brain surgeon a bumbler. Hazyj (talk) 15:40, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want me to see a reply, you need to post on my talk page. You can alternatively leave a message on this page, and I will know you have done so if you start it with my user name, User:Jimfbleak and sign it with four tildes ~~~~ when you post it. That will send me an alert. It's only chance I saw your comments above.

  • You will need to provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that you meet the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, as defined in the link, or they will be deleted. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to you or a related organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting you or an affiliated company claim or interviewing you. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.*
  • You must write in your own words. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial, and text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • You have an obvious conflict of interest. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that you are notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also guidance for editors with conflicts of interest and writing about yourself.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article.

I suggest that you look at biographies such as Pamela C. Rasmussen to get an idea of layout and referencing. You don't have to use the fancy reference templates, just <ref>[url description]</ref> for web refs or <ref>[publication details]</ref> for books etc will do.

I can't be sure from your words, but are you implying that I am writing about myself? Do you think I am Richard Arentz? Richard Arentz is a photographer. I am a physicist who is currently editing the article "Speed of Electricity". It should be a very simple matter for you to see how careful I've been with that edit. I'm taking my time and trying to follow the rules. In particular I'm taking my time rounding up references. Anyhow, I am not Richard Arentz. Hazyj (talk) 16:26, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
