Disambiguation link notification for June 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Fossa (river), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Eastern Region (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:20, 7 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'll check this out.Hornstrandir1 (talk) 07:22, 7 June 2020 (UTC) Done. - I also think, we should change this and install a disambiguation page for these rivers and also is the name of the river not correct, it should be Fossá. The accent can give a different meaning.Hornstrandir1 (talk) 07:26, 7 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lytle[edit]

Hi, I have been slowly working my way around the Great Plains geology and have been noticing your work in the Categories. I don't know if you have local knowledge of the Lytle, and judging from your contribution patterns, maybe not. But, I was wondering and thought that I would ask anyway. Well, thank you for finding and adding that image. I would love a close up of the Lytle to compare with samples I found in the Kansas River. IveGoneAway (talk) 02:00, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are of course welcome to do that.Hornstrandir1 (talk) 06:34, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Andakilsá moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Andakilsá, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Rauðhólar into Rauðhólar (Reykjavík). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Myndbreytingarbergsfræði requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The article Volcanic systems dof Iceland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Recently created redirect, not a plausible typo

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. As the move was reverted. I hadn't seen that a discussion had ended with a no to a move, I restarted the discussion, because I really think it is important to have names right in the languages of the country as far as possible.

So I set this text on the discussion page of Theistareykjarbunga:

{{subst:Theistareykjarbunga|Þeistareykjarbunga|reason=I'd like to restart the discussion as my transfer was reverted.

As was mentioned in the discussion above, Icelandic writing should be preferred, and just set in links from English orthography, which is no problem to do. I did this eg. with my page Þorbjörn (mountain), where I used Icelandic writing and there was no objection to this.

Also in the literature or volcano monitoring webpages like the ones in English from Icelandic Met Office, the names are written in Icelandic though the text may be in English. See: [1] . Here the name of our volcano in question is written Þeistareykir (which would be the volcanic system in comparison to Þeistareykjarbunga which is the name of the central volcano). The same is the case for this page from University of Iceland [2]. The volcanic system is also written Þeistareykir in the book Thor Thordarson, A. Hoskuldsson: Iceland. Classic geology of Europe 3. Harpenden 2002, eg. p.14. The same authors also write it like this in the paper "Postglacial volcanism of Iceland" of 2007 (PDF) [3] And in the Catalogue of Icelandic Volcanoes by Icelandic Met Office and University of Iceland: [4] Click on TEY. Admire Merge[edit]

I have been thinking of suggesting/requesting that you merge Admire Formation into Admire Group. They are the same unit. Group is the USGS usage over the range from OK to NE. However, it is not unknown for Flint Hills units to drop in local (state) rank as they pinch out southward into OK. Both Group and Formation rank are applied in OK, but take care as membership and Period was unstable until even the 80s or 90s. IveGoneAway (talk) 00:24, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could be a good idea to do so. Hornstrandir1 (talk) 01:37, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have done it several times for mid-continental units of the Cretaceous and Permian by referencing Geolex. If I were to find significant use of a different rank or membership, I would work it into the article. I have seen one case of the Admire Formation rank limited to Oklahoma with completely different members, but I don't know if it is current usage. IveGoneAway (talk) 02:17, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries and minor edits[edit]

In the majority of edits you make, you do not leave an edit summary. I see that you mark a large fraction of your edits as minor, and in many that I've checked, this was not correct. For example:

  • [5] - introduces new facts (and is also not written in anything resembling correct English)
  • [6] - changes facts
  • [7] - adds new claims without providing a citation

You should only mark edits as minor if you did something like fixed a typo or some formatting, not when you change the substance of the article in some way. And you should always leave an edit summary. Trople (talk) 17:09, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see ...

1st example: Should I have mentioned a map in the first case? The mountain is situated directly behind the Blue Lagoon/Svartsengi Power Station. 2nd: I took over the indication from below (same page).Hornstrandir1 (talk) 17:30, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know what relevance a map has to marking a non-minor edit as minor, nor what you mean by "took over the indication from below". Like I say, the issue is that a minor edit would be one that does not change the substance of the article at all; those were not minor edits. Trople (talk) 06:58, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. I'll give more information (Edit summary) next time.07:05, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Red link categories[edit]

Hello, Hornstrandir1,

Please do not add nonexistent, red link categories to any pages on Wikipedia. According to policy, WP:REDNO, red link categories either need to be removed from the page or the category needs to be created and placed within the existing Wikipedia category structure. So, if you add them to a page, another editor must come around and then remove them & undo your edit. So, please do not add red link categories unless you plan on immediately creating a category page for them. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:46, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
