Assessment

Hello Ian, I see you assess a lot of cricket articles. For some reason, you seem to assess stubs as start class, even in very obvious cases. I don't know whether you just drop a template in from a collection of WikiProject options, or how this happens, but could you either please leave the class open, or assess according to what class it actually is? Do you mind if I reinstate the redirect Template:South Carolina-school-stub to Template:SouthCarolina-school-stub? I like to have alternate names/alternate redirects for stub templates so people can type multiple different filenames and get the same template they're looking for. Redirects are meant to point people to the right place.

Your TFL nomination

Hi, Ian. The problem was on my end, in all honesty. I scheduled another list related to women's cricket for March, forgetting briefly that your nom was there, and I haven't wanted to schedule two similar articles so close to each other. With that in mind, I'll try to aim for a Main Page date sometime in June, as that will provide a few months of space in between lists. Hope this is all right with you. TFL notification

Hi, Ian. I'm just posting to let you know that List of five-wicket hauls in women's Twenty20 International cricket – a list that you have been heavily involved with – has been chosen to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list for May 19. The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 20:16, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Oz lists

Hi Ian, I was wondering if you had any interest in helping out with the following:

The last of the three is currently at FLC so could use a review, but the other two could easily be co-nominated if you were interested in helping out with them? I've polished all them up considerably from when I found them, but they could definitely use other eyes, particularly expert ones with more local knowledge? Let me know what you think! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:49, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi TRM, sure thing. I think you have done a great job with the Frank Worrell Trophy article and think we can work together to bring the other two FLC standand. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 10:56, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Great, look forwrd to it. Once you're happy with, say, the Trans-Tasman Trophy article, you can nom and co-nom me alongside, without having to wait two months for the FWT to get through FLC! The Rambling Man (talk) 10:58, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Did you want to do anything more to the TTT or would you be prepared to be a co-nom with me as nom? The Rambling Man (talk) 10:21, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Hi TRM, give me a another day to work on it and then we can send it to WP:FL. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 12:43, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
Australian Tennis Hall of Fame could use a look too if you have any such inclination. I polished it up a little from where I found it, could use a bit of lead expansion, but otherwise I think it's not half bad. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:16, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Thank you!

Hello, Ian! Thank you for your review of my article on the Southern Cross Trophy. As a follower of that Australian team I was very much surprised to see the series didn't exist as an article. Hopefully it is one that shall be revived someday. Thanks for review! By the way, I have a couple articles that have been challenged, and would be grateful if you may be able to chime in on them if you have a minute to check. All best. Flags in European current templates

Hello there, I have been asked by another member of WPRL to widen the conversation on "Flags in European current templates", in the hope to gain a wider consensus. I imagine that this message may well never be read, dismissed, see me lose support, potentially gain some or take the discussion forwards. Please do take the time to read the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Rugby_league#Flags_in_squad_templates if you can, but the crux of my position is that the flags are prevalent elsewhere, are consistent with usage by the MOS, and their implementation for their rugby league national squad/team or representative nationality, is in line with their intended purpose. The crux of the remove side would be an IP editor may interpret a flag as indication of birth, give too much credence to the nation, and the decision was made previously. To remove them from all rugby league templates when there is a limited conversation would seem more than a little unfair I would say, hence the attempt to reach out. I'm quite happy to voted down, but would appreciate a few more voices to the discussion, else it would seem quite wrong to move from the majority into the minority.Fleets (talk) 19:54, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Ian, any chance you might have some spare time in the near future to have a look at the subject list and review it at FLC? Cheers, The Rambling Man (talk) 07:51, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Ian. I'm just posting to let you know that List of Australia Test cricket records – a list that you have been heavily involved with – has been chosen to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured list for September 11. The TFL blurb can be seen here. If you have any thoughts on the selection, please post them on my talk page or at TFL talk. Regards, Giants2008 (Talk) 20:22, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi Giants, firstly thank you writing this blurb and nominating this list as a TFL. However, I was actually intending to hold this off until December when the Ashes series will be contested in Australia. I have just the checked the dates and 26 December is a Tuesday which is when the Boxing Day Test commences. Would you mind if we delay the appearance on the Main Page until then? – Ianblair23 (talk) 23:52, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
Sure. I'll make the change right now, since I'm on anyway and don't have much to do tonight. Just so you know, since the 26th is a Tuesday we can't run the list then, as TFL can only run on Mondays and Fridays. I'm sure we can time it for one of the Tests, though. Giants2008 (Talk) 02:05, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi Giants, just following up from the discussion we had above. I see that all of the TFL slots are filled up to 22 December. I would happy for the list to appear either on 29 December (fourth day of the Boxing Day Test) or 5 January (second day of the Sydney New Years Test). My preference would be the latter. Let me know what you think. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 06:03, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for reminding me, Ian. I had completely forgotten about this list, although I was going to schedule something cricket-related for the Ashes. January 5 is also my preference at this point, as I just scheduled a sports list for December 22. You can expect to see the list scheduled for the 5th in the near-future. Giants2008 (Talk) 22:44, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
Fantastic! Thanks Giants. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 23:03, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
I've just scheduled the list for January 5. The blurb is here. Giants2008 (Talk) 21:09, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi Giants, the fourth Test in Melbourne has just ended in a draw. Both the article and the blurb have been updated accordingly. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 07:05, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

I don't know if the ping worked - they seem pretty unreliable, but I thought I'd double-check, and let you know that I have nominated England cricket team Test results (1920–39) once again. I have taken your previous comments on board and made a few tweaks, and would invite any more thoughts you have. (Apologies if you did get the ping!) Harrias talk 14:10, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
