Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sierra Leone Creole people, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Institution of Engineers. Eyamide Ella Lewis-Coker moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Eyamide Ella Lewis-Coker, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Quoting from the section also consider that: "only if the history is unsalvageably corrupted should it be deleted in its entirety; earlier versions without infringement should be retained". This means the entire article does not qualify for speedy deletion according to the rules. Inamo11 (talk) 14:11, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about List of Gambian Creole people[edit]

Hello, Inamo11, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Xx236, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, List of Gambian Creole people, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Gambian Creole people.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Xx236}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to List of Sierra Leone Creole people‎ does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Rusty4321 talk contributions log 21:49, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mirrors[edit]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article List of Sierra Leone Creole people. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Ways to improve Mariatu Kargbo[edit]

Hello, Inamo11,

Thank you for creating Mariatu Kargbo.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

More sources are needed. Individual sources must be evaluated separately and independently of each other and meet the four criteria below to determine if a source qualifies towards establishing notability.

  1. Contain significant coverage addressing the subject of the article directly and in depth.
  2. Be completely independent of the article subject.
  3. Meet the standard for being a reliable source.
  4. Be a secondary source; primary and tertiary sources do not count towards establishing notability.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Titles[edit]

Hello, Inamo11.

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by "unrecognized tribal titles". When last I checked, my country's chieftaincy system was recognized by the laws of Nigeria. I take it that this is in reference to the "notable Saro people" section of the page on the Saro people?

And I don't know what '"lust" you're referring to. Do you mean a list?

O.ominirabluejack (talk) 17:26, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@O.ominirabluejack: Hello, Thanks for getting back. I meant to say "list" not "lust" - apologies. I am just concerned that your list does not conform to WP's MOS for academic or occupational titles for both embedded or stand-alone lists. Please look at MOS:DOC or MOS:DOCTOR or MOS:PHD. No such titles or honorifics can appear in front of any name. A short description of the subject though, can include info the they are "doctor", "magistrate", "flight lieutenant" etc. I have personally never heard someone referred to afs "magistrate xyz" or "lawyer abc". Those are occupations not titles. Since every bullet-point on the list is pretty much the start of a new sentence, you cannot start by saying "Professor XYZ is...."; however "XYZ is professor of..." is how its done. Please also take a look at "List of Sierra Leone Creoles" as it contains almost all the subjects on the "Notable Saro" list. There are no preceding titles unless they are "unique" - again read through the manual for what WP considers a unique title. Unfortunately "Chief" is not one of them even though I know they are important figures in Nigeria. How about "XYZ - Chief of ABC province/state/ethnic group etc..."? Thanks Inamo11 (talk) 19:20, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I saw the old list... I even contributed to it. I was surprised, therefore, when I went to check it a few days ago and found that it had been deleted. That was why I then added the notable Saro people section to the main article.
O.ominirabluejack (talk) 19:28, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well I don't know what happened there. I noticed you added a lot of names. I am personally interested in lists and I believe they have a life of their own - that's why I created a stand-alone list because we are actively constructing biographies for Creole/Saro related subjects to add to those listd. Point in case, the list of SL Creoles is now twice the size of the main article on SL Creoles!! You did a great job adding subjects I didn't even know about but then the list suddenly disappeared. Lol. Inamo11 (talk) 19:36, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's always the way... They'll wait for you to do a good job on something, then it'll get deleted. 🤣
At any rate, I'm glad about the good work that you've been doing for the Creoles. My grandma was a Saro, so I kind of have a soft spot for them. I'll check out the list for them that you mentioned and help out where I can.
You'll notice that I just added a list to the article on Brazilians in Nigeria too. Let me know if I missed anyone there.
Be well.
O.ominirabluejack (talk) 21:52, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copying licensed material requires attribution[edit]

Hi. I see in a recent addition to Krio language you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Open Government Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 20:16, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Smith family (Sierra Leone) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Although members of the family may be relevant, the family itself is not notable, and sources do not connect family members.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
