"Football" vs "soccer"[edit]

In Australia there are many types of football, so we normally make it explicit which football we are talking about by saying "soccer" or "rugby league" or whatever. It is unhelpful for a reader in an Australian article, particularly in the lede paragraph, to use the term "football" except where it forms part of a proper name of a team or competition and, even then, it may be appropriate to indicate the type of football in parentheses so the reader is not confused.
