Username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Harold Kerzner, and I noticed that your username, "International Institute for Learning", may not comply with our username policy. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Draft:International Institute for Learning, Inc., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. April 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Bbb23 (talk) 22:37, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please follow the instructions in your block notice and that I sent you. Please follow the instructions for renaming. I cannot see unblocking you to write about this company unless you could so so without using promotional language.
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects of articles must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources which are unconnected with the subject and which provide verifiable information. Someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject.
" All content must be cited from reliable, independent sources with a reputation for fact checking."
If writing a page about your company is your only purpose on Wikipedia, we probably will not be able to unblock you. Best -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:32, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. This Wikipedia page is just an overview of our company's history and what we do. We will not be promoting anything. Every source is reliable and will be linked back to our site. How do i change my username? Where would those instructions be? Request reason:

Your proposed new IILGlobal

Decline reason:

I've fixed some formatting issues with your request. It must be written precisely as the instructions indicate. That choice of new username is no better, please read the username policy. Usernames must be indivdualistic in nature. Also note that as written you included "your proposed new" as part of your username- the entire phrase "your proposed new username" must be overwritten with your choice.

Please undestand that Wikipedia is not a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves and what they consider to be their own history- that is considered promotional here, you do not have to be soliciting or selling something. The main purpose of a Wikipedia article is to summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. We are not interested in what an organization says about itself, we are primarily intersted in what independent sources say about an organization and its history and/or why it is important/significant/influential. The vast majority of organizations do not merit articles, even those within the same field. Those articles that do exist are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the topic.

Please read WP:COI and WP:PAID. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your organization. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in being a general contributor and editing about topics for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:04, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

?? International Institute for Learning (talk) 18:13, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest.

You used the unblock template incorrectly. You should copy and paste the following template:

{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}

In place of the text "Your proposed new username", you should write the new name you wish to use. Your previous choice ("IILGlobal") would have been rejected anyway, because it also represents your company. Accounts are for individuals, not companies, organizations or groups of people. Your account name must reflect individual use.

In place of the text "Your reason here", you should write the reason why you believe that you should be unblocked. Your response should include an explanation that demonstrates that you understand the reasons why you were blocked, and how you will edit in the future in a manner that does not violate Wikipedia policy.

By the way, edits like these are unwelcome. It implies that you have an expectation of an immediate response to your questions. Wikipedia is run by volunteers and there is no deadline to work against. You will get responses whenever a volunteer editor has the time and opportunity to do so. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:34, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This does not address your violation of WP:COI and doesn't tell us what you plan to write about instead, if unblocked. Yamla (talk) 19:58, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I plan to provide valuable independent sources like press releases and interviews not advertising anything related to my organization. The proposed new username is perfect. Please unblock so i may change to Global1991 International Institute for Learning (talk) 19:11, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Any update on this? We have consulted with an outside wiki consultant to assist us with the guidelines and we believe we have a better understanding now. We will only create a draft in a sandbox before attempting to create a page again, and will only use reputable sources and information and no advertisements or promotions.
