  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.

It seems like a serious struggle to just write an article here. I put hours of work into this but everything seems wrong. An the tutorial pages are long and tedious to read. I just need one person to tell me paragraph by paragraph what should be removed or changed for this article to be accepted. The person I write about is existing and the reputation is proven by many many sources everyone can read for themselves. I cannot see anything I can do now. And there is nobody to call to talk this over step by step. JEbert68 (talk) 15:33, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct, diving in and creating an article is the very hardest thing to do on Wikipedia, merely existing is not a part of the criteria. You need to make sure that the subject passes the criteria at WP:NARTIST and presently it is not clear that they do, does she have work in public collections of museums for instance? Are any of her awards notable? (ie do they have Wikipedia articles). Theroadislong (talk) 16:18, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so you deny any of the accomplishments. Honestly this is pretty insulting to an artist, working for years, being published and exhibited internationally - as you can check by my cited sources.
Please check these two and explain in detail what the differences are and why these are worthy of Wiki and others are not.
Anne Wölk
https://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Vilhelmsen
There exists an international art magazine since 2021 by the artist I write about, where even these two were featured.
See other stuff exists the German Wikipedia article is irrelevant as that is entirely a different project with lower criteria for entry. Theroadislong (talk) 09:16, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot see why this is not notable enough.
I am really confused. JEbert68 (talk) 09:00, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
please, who is the contact / mail / address to send my documents for copyright of my used pictures? I cannot find this info anywhere.Thank you. JEbert68 (talk) 09:05, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The photographs were taken from https://www.artistlenasnow.com did you take the photographs yourself? Only the photographer can license them for use here. Theroadislong (talk) 09:12, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pictures are dealt with on Wikimedia Commons. Your Usert talk page there has all the information you need. It is a separate, but linked, project. It has very strict licencing criteria.
You know this page exists because you have been having conversations about these pictures there. There is no point in raising it here. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 09:29, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you forget the photographs for the time being, they are irrelevant and do not help with notability, you need to work on explaining with independent sources how they meet the criteria at WP:NARTIST and then submit the draft for review. Theroadislong (talk) 09:43, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, JEbert68. Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

I wish people pay respect to the hard work of others. Explain - in detail and thoroughly the difference to this accepted article https://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Vilhelmsen
As you can see, less text, less information, less work done, only a few sources. I am sure your power feels nice but I worked a long time to get this done. You continously deny that this Artist exists and the relevance, thereby discarding a whole lot of sources from different media, areas and countries. What can I do? What do you want? I am very very demotivated. JEbert68 (talk) 10:20, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Also note that other language versions of Wikipedia have different inclusion criteria. You have been told this before, on 19 July, by Theroadislong.
You wish for the draft to be accepted, so please do the work required. If you will not take advice then the probability of your succeeding here is negligible.
I perceive from your editing that you may be paid to edit here. I am about to ask you a formal question on that. Answering it is mandatory. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:27, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am neither paid nor in any way related to this person. All I want is to write an article on her. JEbert68 (talk) 10:29, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please listen to advice. Write the article with pleasure, and write it well. This current draft has a negligible chance if acceptance. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:33, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise that I failed to answer the "What can I do?" question explicitly, but I have already answered in in detail on the draft.
I am ignoring your slur "I am sure your power feels nice" but suggest you do not continue to offer slurs. Civility is required at all times 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:31, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JEbert68. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:JEbert68. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JEbert68|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:28, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This has been answered in the section above. Thank you for your very clear answer. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:32, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hereby, I state that I am not getting paid for writing or editing in any way. Furthermore, I am not related to the person I write about in any way. JEbert68 (talk) 10:33, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the clear answer to this question 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:35, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please tell me a higher authority that I can talk to about this ongoing struggle and getting answers. Thank you. I feel insulted. JEbert68 (talk) 10:35, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are no higher authorities in Wikipedia. You have several options for further discussion, but I suggest you choose only one. Choosing more than one is, generally, frowned upon. WP:TEAHOUSE is appropriate, as is WP:AFCHD.
You have not been insulted, nor will you be. I have mentioned WP:CIVIL to you before. Please cease offering slurs, especially to people trying to help you. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:41, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify "Higher Authorities" WIkipeoda has a set of Administrators, Stewards, and Bureaucrats. While these functionaries have a set of tools not available to the majority of users, they do not have authority over them. Their role is to clean up messes.
There is a totally flat hierarchy here, with every user having the same "authority" as any other. This includes Wikipedia's founder.
Each of us has precisely one opinion which counts the same as anyone else's opinion. We work on consensus - the coming together of many similar opinions, to form policies. Your opinion counts in this as much as anyone else's 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:49, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My opinion does not count, as you and others made very clear. We can make this battle here shorter: you do not want me to write this and do not want me to be here. This is a fact. JEbert68 (talk) 10:55, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It matters to me not at all whether you write or do not write an article on Lena Snow. All that matters to me is that you write one which will not be subject to an immediate deletion process and likely failing to be kept. Do that and I or any other reviewer will accept it. I have no interest in whether you are here or whether you are not, except that I would prefer it if you were, provided you listen to advice.
Do you wish me to accept this draft exactly as it is today? I will do that on your request, but I will immediately send it for a deletion discussion, so that the community can settle on whether the quality is appropriate. Consensus is important, and we are all subject to it. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 11:02, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will rewrite it - can you put it back to a draft status? 2A02:8071:2C87:B2C0:294C:D28D:B665:203D (talk) 11:06, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will rewrite it - can you put it back to a draft status? JEbert68 (talk) 11:07, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It remains a draft. I am happy that you have decided to remain. May I suggest that you write the bare minimum to show that Snow is notable, and leave embellishing it until after any future acceptance. Please read this essay whcih contains a process likely to allow success, assuming Snow passes WP:NARTIST.
Write wholly neutral prose, please. And, though I know you have permission for the pictures, consider with care the purpose of adding a picture. It needs to add value to the words. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 11:11, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, can you please explain why such articles exist and are accepted https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Klemmtasche
and mine it not? I can see a clear lack of anything notable in this one.
Just for my understanding if the rules and criteria here are the same for everyone. JEbert68 (talk) 11:25, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article you have mentioned is in the German language Wikipedia. It has much less stringent acceptance criteria from the English language Wikipedia. Langage versions of Wikipedia have standards created independently from each other.
Klemmtasche would not be acceptable to the English language Wikipedia. It has no references, no obvious notability and appears to be a dictionary definition, not an article. However, this may be acceptable there.
The rules, standards, are the same for everyone on the language version of Wikipedia that they choose.
It is likely, but not certain, that the German language version's standards will become tougher over time. I base this upon the route taken by the English language version and its standards. Many years ago Wikipedia was trying to have articles, almost whatever the standard, today we are clearing up older, substandard articles and making the quality and notability hurdles higher. This is the same for every editor here.
No precedent is ever set by any article for any other. If it were we would have a brutally fast descent into idiocracy 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 11:53, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much JEbert68 (talk) 11:54, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You might wish to compare:
You will see articles in all the different languages with different standards. Google translate will show you the text in languages with which you are unfamiliar. Some of these articles may not be acceptable for the language version they are in, even though they are present. That is a local matter, though.
I really hope that helps your understanding. You chose a good example. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 12:15, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Lena Snow. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 13:48, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think by now you can see that we are anxious for you to succeed, assuming Snow passes WP:NARTIST. The Articles for Creation process can seem impersonal, but perhaps an explanation of what it is for will help.
We wish to accept, our instructions are to accept, any draft which we believe has a better than 50% chance of surviving an immediate deletion process. The conclusion one may draw from a decline (a push back for further work) is that we believe that, as presented it would not survive.
If presented to WP:AFD and deleted then it becomes far harder to re-create an article on that topic. We seek to avoid that.
Yes, it is impersonal, but so is any process that reviews work. The trick is to understand that it is not personal when something is declined. We want to accept articles.
The process sees to raise the standard of new articles to mean that all which are accepted will survive. That means that sometimes it can feel very tough when you receive pushback. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 14:02, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
