You're right, there is very little to say about the guy at this stage hence it being a stub. I've seen alot of articles on here about non first class cricketers who have represented their country at under 19 level. I reckon there would be atleast 30 of them, not saying that they should be there but I merely felt that a precedent had been sent. Now this guy has captained his country - http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/australia/engine/current/match/288202.html so if any of these players are notable than he would be one I feel. I am guilty of not explaining to the guy why I was deleting the material sure, but that was only because he was well aware. If and when I get unblocked I am not sure whether I am even going to start posting here again, that is how peeved off I am about how this has been handled. Firstly you need to look at the material he kept adding, clearly unacceptable and with a link to a hate site. When I started removing this material I was flooded with harassing messages on my talk page which I deleted. When I got up this morning I see that this person has reversed my last 30 edits to various articles. Please take a look at them yourself and you will see that my edits were genuine. I then posted a complaint to WikipediaCricket and asked the more experienced members how best to deal with this. I then found that over the next hour this person was editing this post and reversing the names. The harassment then contiued with the user posting the reversed complaint in the place which you found it. --Crickettragic 01:28, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

The diffs are indeed everywhere. :-D I am inclined to think, based upon 12345ak's previous edits, that he or she moved the link to the bottom (which was originally added by an anonymous user, see [1]) which is, although the link is to a hate site, proper formatting.

I assumed after seeing the diffs that it was a failure to communicate. I also noticed (no hard feelings) that you haven't used your user talk page very much [2]. That might be a good thing to do when your block expires or when you get unblocked. (Also about that, see Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Betacommand/Proposed_decision#Communication; bad things happen when people don't communicate.) :-)

However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. In this case the editor has not recieved a recent final warning on the talk page. Warnings left in edit summaries cannot be included due to the fact that the editor may not see them. Also activity seems to have stopped for now. Infobox problems

I have replied to the Help desk but thought i would reply here as well. Right, i have now fixed the problem. Someone had moved the page and cleaned up the template without amending the documentation. The correct documentation can be found at Template:Infobox cricket tournament main/doc and the template is called Template:Infobox cricket tournament main now. Put simply, all the parameters were renamed and so none of the old parameters would have worked. By the By, you should be using Template:Infobox cricket tournament anyway as it is for a specific event if i am not mistaken. I have now used that on World Cricket Classic. Hope that helps. I stated in the introduction which club he played for and in which league he played for. How does that not assert the significance of the player when the notablilty guidelines for sportsmen clearly state that a person is notable if they played in a professional league? Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but you can limit the amount of columns, or use different headings, using the new infobox. AFL Player Templates

Sorry, I'm looking at improving the AFL template to be more presentable and complete with information (ala soccer, basketball templates). There was some information in the previous template that was rather useless (ie debut stadium, and debut information) since it overlapped with other points. Changing the current player info to meet this template I'm editing shouldn't be too hard (as far as transferring information goes).

I've re-done the Jim Adamson info box as an example - took 5 secs to transfer the information.

• To be honest, I think the whole process of WikiProject AFL is/will be a pain to continually edit. But really, I'd like to think we're trying to make all AFL-related articles the best as possible, and I strongly believe this is one step in that direction (particularly looking at soccer, american basketball etc articles, which are miles ahead at the moment). There is such an effort being currently made to retrospectively embellish AL/VFL history (such as, for example a St Kilda best and fairest player in 1923 being represented as having won the "Trevor Barker Medal" and, as well, statements to the effect that the "Trevor Barker Medal" has been awarded annually since 1914) that, it seems, soon there will be no people who understand the differences between a 19th man, and then later a 19th man and a 20th man and an "interchange player". In response to your question about whether I think that anything should be added to your design of the "Season Infobox", I delayed my answer so that I could have another look at what you've done this morning — and, also, have time to reflect upon what might be important for the skimming reader to know at a glance about the entire season.

(1) In relation to the sort of summary that your infobox presents, and in relation to a relevant piece of information that is missing, I do not think that any reference should be made to the manner in which the premiership was decided (ARGUS System, Page-McIntyre, etc.); simply because, in my view, it is information that is of far too great a complexity for those who would have no desire to look further down the page.

(2) I suggest that you amend the label "Premiers" so that it reads "Premiership Team".

I suggest this because embedded within the title "Premiership Team" is the fact that, in those days, the team so designated may or may not have played in what is now known as a "Grand Final"; and the designation "Premiers" (on its own)might lead the naive reader to imagine that there was a compulsory "Grand Final".

(3) Given (2), in my view, your designation "Minor premiers" is fine, and should not be changed.

(4) It seems that the only relevant (i.e., of some significant importance) information that is missing is the length of the pre-finals season. (Although I have no information presently at my fingertips, I recall that there was at least one season when an unusual number of games were played; and this would certainly draw attention to that fact.)

Given that you already have a heading "Champion of the Season" — and, I suppose, if you go back earlier in time it would then read "Champion of the Colony" — it would seem important (for your formatting) that this new label is no longer than "Champion of the Season", currently your longest label. So, I suggest that:

(a) you insert this new category immediately below the "Clubs" category;

(b) that of you call it "Home-and-Away Season"; and

(c) [having thought about it for some time], that the entry in that category would read, for example, the unambiguous "18 rounds" — rather than, that is, the sometimes confusing "18 matches", or "18 games", or just "18".

Thanks for the comment - As you say Corinthian F.C. were most definitely an amateur club, albeit a very prominent one. My only reason for including them in the list was to show for whom they played at club level, as it looked a bit odd only referring to England. There are many more who played for Corinthian and played county cricket, but I don't propose to include them. If we do, it would lower the bar and admit any county cricketer who had a Sunday morning kick-around for an amateur football club. I have tweaked the intro to try to clarify this.

In the Victorian era, there were many amateur footballers who played for England and also played some cricket at a first-class level. A few who come to mind are Anthony Hossack, Charles Chenery, Cuthbert Ottaway and John Brockbank - should they be included? Cheers. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:02, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

It appears to be an error on my part. I was maintenance deleting "Category:United Arab Emirates cricketers" and other ones that had Emirates instead of Emirati. Hugh Gavin information

I am interesetd in the source of Hugh Gavin's DOB and games record. Is it AFL official stats or from the AFL website stats? The club he played with, Essendon, has his games record as 108.

There is also some discrepency in the Champion of Colony winners with 2 listed for 1902. As hugh Gavin didn't play in 1903 he clearly did not win it in that year as listed on the website. Do you know the source of the winners listed

Hi, just to let you know I've removed Stan Nichols from the List of English cricket and football players because Joyce's book doesn't mention him playing in the Football League for anyone. Although his article says he was with QPR in his youth, QPR only joined the FL in 1920, so either he never played first-team football at all, or only in the Southern League. Port Adelaide Football Club

I notice that you are recategorising historic Port Adelaide Players from Port Adelaide Football Club to Port Magpies. As our Port Adelaide Football Club article states, the club started in 1870 while the Port Magpies started in 1997, which means that placing players like Bob Quinn (Australian footballer) in Port Magpies is contradictory as Quinn had retired 50 years prior to the creation of the Port Magpies. --Roisterer (talk) 03:27, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

In the past I have found pre-1896 players (for, say St Kilda) categorised as St Kilda Football Club along with the VFL/AFL St Kilda players so theoretically we could just have one category for the two groups. You had already seen and had been looking at the St Kilda football Club article without making any changes to it yourself before I added the correct name of the Premiership season, the count of Minor Premierships and the team of each years leading goalkicker and brownlow medallist to the existsing infobox that is being used for more recent seasons.

You only edited the article on st kilda to annoy me and to add a space a dot or a color box here and there after i had added relevent and more factually correct information to each article (usng the infobox that is being used for more recent seasons).
