Passion (2012 film)‎

I understand the desire not to have three stub tags on the same article, but I believe an exception should be made in the case of Passion (2012 film)‎. The article is definitely a stub, and clearly classified as an erotic thriller, yet the first two stub tags only reference the two countries that produced it. Per WP:STUB, "if an article overlaps several stub categories, more than one template may be used" and "a limit of three or, if really necessary, four stub templates is advised". Therefore, it is perfectly acceptable to place a third stub tag on the article, in order to classify it as an erotic thriller film stub. Fortdj33 (talk) 19:34, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Lugnuts. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Boston Marathon explosion, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Sosthenes12 (talk) 19:34, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi!

I am not entirely sure what you mean by your message. If you are wondering why I proposed your article for deletion, the reason was that yours was one of about 10 articles created about the same topic within just a couple hours. The other articles were more informative than yours at the time so I decided to nominate it for deletion. Looking back, I should have just turned it into a redirect. Sorry for any misunderstanding this caused.

Sosthenes12 (talk) 20:37, 17 April 2013 (UTC)Sosthenes12

The article Boston Marathon bombings has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Have you seen this Turkish film? It's an absolute masterpiece on par with any of Kiarostami's work. The review on imdb sums it up well that the use of imagery to deliver a message with little dialogue works incredibly well. It is a beautifully shot film in rural Turkey, a true art film which deserved to have won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in my opinion.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:48, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

NY times ref/Wallace films

Hi: I took that out as it seemed redundant, given that all the info this source offered was also provided by filmportal...but if you feel more comfortable with it. :-)

Also, I generally see no real point in having inline citations in the lead, when all it is supposed to do is summarize the rest of the article. Often, having footnotes in the lead seems to be a sign that somebody just plugged content into the lead without bothering to put it where it really belongs and verifying whether it contradicts other material in the article. ;-) Drow69 (talk) 14:33, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Uh, we are talking about the same Lawrence Varsi Castner of Castner's Cutthroats fame, correct? Using the presumed notability of a subject to mass-create articles lacking context or useful content just happens to be one of my big complaints about Wikipedia. I could easily do the same, but I would rather take the time and do it right. As it stands, articles of this sort lends credence to the notion that Wikipedia is more a compendium of possibly notable topics than a proper encyclopedia. RadioKAOS  – Talk to me, Billy 00:38, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Since I had access to a copy, I looked up Tewkesbury's Who's Who in Alaska and Alaska Business Index, published in 1947. From the entry:

CASTNER, Lawrence Varsi, cold storage operator. Born San Francisco, Calif., May 1, 1902, son of Maj. Gen. Joseph C. and Ada A. (White) Castner.

The rest of the entry mentions his graduating from West Point, his exploits in WWII and later business career. Curiously, it says nothing about the 1924 Olympics, which I would presume to be notable enough to mention in even a Who's Who-type capsule biography. I also found a book published in 1984 on Joseph Compton Castner's exploits in Alaska in 1898, which contains a one-page biography at the beginning. Also curiously, this biography omits mention of his son. This despite the fact that it was written, edited and published under the supervision of professional, scholarly historians in Alaska, who certainly knew full well of the significance that Lawrence Castner has to Alaska. RadioKAOS  – Talk to me, Billy 02:05, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

I undid your edit to Carl Brisson because there is no such category. Were you planning on creating this category? (Makes sense, there are a lot of other sub-category nationalities.) If you do, just revert my edit. All the best, 78.26 (I'm no IP, talk to me!) 14:57, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

This film is pretty overrated isn't it? Its pretty good but doesn't even come close to the best films I've seen. The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit is an excellent film by comparison.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:31, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Bal is very minimalist and would be too plain for some people but I think that works to the films advantage. The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit I thought was an outstanding film with a terrific performance by Jennifer Jones in particular. Citizen Kane yeah I don't get the hype. It has some brilliant, charming moments but I think its very overrated overall. From the early 40s era I prefer Casablanca or the Maltese Falcon.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 12:44, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Talk Page Stalker Alert! Ha! I am scum! Gobi Desert perhaps and if you haven't seen this Danish one yet, well, don't read the WP entry and spoil it for yourself, it couldn't be more "different". Hillbillyholiday talk 12:51, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Most of the critics disagree with me but the Crowther review agrees with me in that I thought it was a touching film. I agree with it being a bit too long though, the scenes involving the eloping daughter were too long but overall I thought it was very good and certainly well above being "mediocre" as one critic put it.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:01, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

I saw the Twilight Saga Eclipse a week or two ago and no kidding it was one the most appalling pieces of tosh I've ever seen! I saw My Sister Eileen (1955 film) the other day and that film irritates the hell out of me too, saved only by Janet Leigh's tight top...♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 13:07, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. I'm just here to ask that you not remove {{aviation lists}} from aircraft type articles, as it is long-standing consensus that aircraft type articles contain that navbox at the bottom of the article. If that's inappropriate it needs to be discussed to establish a new consensus, instead of having the template randomly removed here and there. Speedy deletion nomination of Christoph Schaub

Hello Lugnuts,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Christoph Schaub for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Bruno Russell (talk) 19:30, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Two things

Hey Lugnuts, I came here to let you know that I've deleted a redirect you created, Death of Nelson Mandela. An anon had recently changed it to an article stating that he had died. I found no evidence of this, and I thought that it was a bit problematic from a BLP standpoint to have a "Death of" redirect for a person who is still alive, so I deleted it rather than restoring the redirect.

Also, I just noticed your talk page edit notice. I get the reference (great movie, and unbelievable performance by Ermey), but I'm worried that most users won't get the reference and will be pretty put off by it. I'm hoping you will consider changing it, but I'll leave that to you. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:37, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hristo Hristov requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://hristo-hristov.com/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Gbawden (talk) 12:29, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

The body has been identified as that of a 21-25 year old woman, but we don't know which woman, and will probably never know. All we know is a probable date of death and a probable age, from which, of course, you can come up with a probable year of birth, but categorisation requires an exact year. You can add Category:Year of birth unknown if you really must, but I think even that would be silly, because as I said, this is not an article about a person, but a corpse. It's the corpse that's notable, and it's the corpse that's the subject of the article. Corpses don't have years of birth. DoctorKubla (talk) 17:54, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

So... do you disagree, or can I remove the category? DoctorKubla (talk) 18:45, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Lugnuts, I know Bushranger isn't the word of God, but IMO he makes a pretty strong argument against renaming Dolce Vito – Dream Restaurant back to Vito Cataffo. I was thinking of giving it a procedural close, but I'm not sure that would be appropriate if you still want to move. --BDD (talk) 23:52, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 30

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hollywood in Uniform, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Art Baker (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
