Title for title sake

How did you create your own map of Ireland for all the county articles, they are interesting?--Jacobfrid (talk) 00:58, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

It technically isn't my map, another editor merged the following maps: [1] and [2] into one, and i used Photoshop Illustrator to edit the SVG colours of them. I can't exactly remember where the blank version of the merged one is hosted.
We had a very very long debate (quite heated at times too) about those maps and what colours to use for the political entities etc. So i hope you aren't intending on changing them as there was an overwhelming concensus for the maps as they ended up and none of us want to go through the whole debate again lol :-) Mabuska (talk) 10:58, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the reply, I'd never attempt to change the county article maps but I think it would be clearer if articles like Irish midlands had maps that highlighted counties normally considered as Midlands. And are the maps copyrighted or are people allowed to edit them --Jacobfrid (talk) 12:48, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

The images have been uploaded within an open license which means they can be edited and altered, but i think you have to give credit to the author of the original work. Though your idea for them is actually a good one. However just checking and the Irish midlands as provided by that tourist site differs from that of the Midlands region which constitutes just for counties - and i think that article should be restructured more along the lines of the Irish Region Office stuff than a tourist guide. Mabuska (talk) 14:40, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
In fact here it is; [3] though i've created one for you based on the Irish Region Office and put it in the article. It is a good idea. Mabuska (talk) 16:37, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

A very late Thank you, the map really raises the quality of the article and makes it look more professional. If you can ever find the time in the future I hope you can create a map for a new article I'm working on, Mid-East Ireland. Thank you --Jacobfrid (talk) 20:43, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

It really does make the article look better and add a bit of colour :-) Yeah i've no probs in making the maps. The site i used when i rewrote the Midlands article, is the official government site for the Ireland regions so it'd be a safe and reliable source to use. Its sourced in the Midlands article so should be easy to find. Mabuska (talk) 21:24, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Mabuska, please stop reverting "region" to "country" in relation to Northern Ireland - even as "constituent country" it is a politically laden term, akin to referring to "the mainland", "the province", "the Free State", "Derry" or any of our other toponymical battlegrounds - everyone can agree that it is "a region" of the island, or "a region" of the UK, but to use the term "country" raises the hackles of those who regard their "country" as something else and bigger. Can we not agree on "constituent part" or "constituent region"? My edits are a good-faith attempt to avoid political controversy and TW stalking to revert them is, frankly, oppressive behaviour. Brocach (talk) 19:59, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Wow i did one revert of what i can see is a undiscussed edit and i get this huge whine. For your information NI is according to the UK a constituent country. Facts above political motivations Brocach. Mabuska (talk) 10:47, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

UK Literature

Sorry to have abandoned you on the question of the 'foreign-born' authors paragraph. Frankly, I had no idea how to rewrite it (it's 'broken', but I don't know how to fix it), otherwise I would have changed it myself, or at least offered a suggestion. It is complex, and seems to have polarised opinion. Though I'm sure it's best thrashed out on the Talk page first. It may be better to wait until the dust settles on other issues first (but perhaps not). I would be happy to re-introduce the subject in another section (as the original seems to have been overtaken by events), unless you would prefer to do so yourself. Please let me know your thoughts. Best, Daicaregos (talk) 20:06, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't think the issue has hit an unmovable wall or become polarised yet, though it does appear that two discussion are taking place in the one section which can lead to confusion. Seeing as your issue is the first issue of that talk page section Rangoon and James should be told to move it elsewhere. Mabuska (talk) 23:36, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Will you please take a look at the Miami Showband section as I've added several citations. Do I need to add anymore?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 14:12, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I assume this whole section is cited in the source given at the end of it all: On 31 July 1975, four days after Hanna's shooting and Jackson's assumption of leadership of the Mid-Ulster brigade, the Miami Showband's minibus was flagged-down outside Newry by UVF men wearing Army uniforms at a bogus military checkpoint. Two UVF men loaded a time delay bomb on the minibus but it exploded prematurely and killed them.[69]? If so its fine, though i may duplicate the citation to the end of the first sentence for completeness.
Otherwise great job, though there is still a couple of statements that need sourced. Though as the rest have been taken care off i'll remove the section tag and just add two inline citation needed tags for the last bits needing sourced. Mabuska (talk) 14:20, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
The requested refs have all been added.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 15:21, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
I still need to locate two more refs. I added one for the SPG's disbandment.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 14:35, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Poll on Londonderry

Mabuska, Just to let you know theres a poll at IMOS on the status of the use of the name of London/derry the city in Wikipedia it's here. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 19:49, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you

I really appreciate the help you have given to improving the Glenanne gang article. I believe all the requested citations have now been added. Thanks again!--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 19:52, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

A Championship

I've rolled back your changes to A Championship. I fail to see a need to add a description of "League of Ireland" to the lede, and you have not demonstrated that one is required. --HighKing (talk) 18:52, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

I was going by the permission i got from Rocketpocket so i did nothing wrong HighKing. I fail to see what the difference between my edit and NebY's edit is anyways other than a different link. Mabuska (talk) 11:47, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Larne gun-running

Mabuska, I have just read the article and I think it merits a B class. I have since asked for an assessment over at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/Requests.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 15:53, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Many thanks. I see it got a B rating! Other than fixing that clarification bit, i wonder how i can get it to an A rating. Mabuska (talk) 19:32, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
You are most welcome. It deserved a B-at the very least! To get it to GA, you can nominate it yourself. Just go over to Good Article nominations and add it to the list. Under military. Good luck!--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 12:18, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Lisnaskea Edit

Hi, you recently removed content from the Lisnaskea page. If you dispute this content please raise the issue first on the talk page of that article instead of just blanking sections. Thankyou --90.221.73.130 (talk) 19:37, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Lol obviously you don't read edit summaries, but none the less i'll raise it on the talk page. Mabuska (talk) 22:00, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Thankyou for your explanation on the situation and with respect that would have sufficed as opposed to the blanking of the artice and lack of explanation. I don't want to engage in a tit for tat argument over this as you have taken steps to address this and that is appreciated.--90.221.73.130 (talk) 22:47, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

No problems, i at first believed the information was on someone who lacked notability and met the criteria for deletion, however they do have their own article it appears and have notability. So you can stick it back in as long as you revise the other problems. Mabuska (talk) 22:50, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Message

As a result of a number of egregious personal attacks and derogatory comments directed at myself on Wikipedia by two editors I will no longer be making any contributions on Talk:Caubeen. I appreciate the work you have done over the last number of days to rewrite the article. Thanks.--MFIrelandTalk 21:19, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Personally i'm sorry to hear, or rather read, that you've decided to no longer make contributions over at Caubeen, especially when what was said by the two other editors was quite mild compared to what i've seen elsewhere. Mabuska (talk) 22:55, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi Mabuska, you're welcome for autopatrolled. You were on this list here as a potential candidate for the autopatrolled userright. Best. Acalamari 09:59, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! Mabuska (talk) 14:32, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
