Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tuff TV, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cobleskill, New York (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Category:Home Shopping Network affiliates

[edit]

Hello, Markman1. I see that you have developed the page Category:Home Shopping Network affiliates. This should not really be a "Category:" page. These pages are meant to be a collection of article titles only, where the articles are identified by having a "Category" link placed in the article text. See Help:Categories for an explanation. What you have created really is a list article, as it contains not just the article titles but also some further information about each of the topics of those articles.

Unfortunately, the Wikipedia software does not provide any simple method of moving a page from the "Category:" namespace to the regular article namespace. I would suggest creating a new page, with the same contents, called List of Home Shopping Network affiliates. When you do this, it is important for copyright reasons that you note the following in the edit summary: "Moved content from :Category:Home Shopping Network affiliates, contributors were User:Markman1, User:Mlaffs, User:Slivicon."

If you need help or have any questions, please leave a message on my Talk page. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:11, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WKUW

[edit]

Hello:

I thought it might be helpful for you to see the difference in the article on WKUW-LD after my copy edit. If you click on this link you'll see the before and after versions side-by-side. (I hasten to add I am not perfect.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=WKUW-LD&diff=927281467&oldid=927075358

A couple of general things to point out, if I may. When an acronym is used like TBN for Trinity Broadcasting you should spell it out in full when it is first used like this Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) so that readers know what it means without having to click on the link to find out. You can then use TBN as is for the rest of the article.

Never use "&" to replace "and" in the body of the article. Your writing needs to be formal. Make your sentences clear and concise.

You want to avoid using "also" and "additionally" unless they are absolutely necessary.

When you make an edit, make sure to click "Preview" and look at it carefully. "Changes" gives you a great tool to make sure it is improving the article by adding new information (which must include a citation) or is fixing a grammatical error. Editing to simply change a sentence to suit your writing style is discouraged

Always make sure you explain in the Edit Summary box why you changed what you did so other editors can understand your reasoning; unexplained changes are annoying.

Wikipedia welcomes contributions from anyone. This is a great tool to help as you move forward. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Basic_copyediting

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in WKRN-TV, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. W28EU-D moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, W28EU-D, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from WNTU-LP into WNTU-LD. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted copied template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 15:09, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WRTN-LD

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give WRTN-LP a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into WRTN-LD. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. As far as I can tell, this is not the first time you've done this — what Diannaa warned you about last week following your move of material from WNTU-LP to WNTU-LD was this. Thank you for your understanding. WCQuidditch 03:18, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Blue Riband. I noticed that you recently made an edit to WSMV-TV in which your edit summary did not appear to describe the change you made. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. You added significant content to the article while marking it as a "minor" edit. You also did this with WIIW-LD and your other contributions. A good rule of thumb is that edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of the content should be flagged as minor edits. You can take a look at WP:MINOR for more details. Blue Riband► 12:12, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Blue Riband► 13:44, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article List of over-the-air HSN affiliates has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not a directory, also cannot find any reliable source or a centralized list in HSN.com that documents the affiliates. Reason 7.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

WFFH/WAIV

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give WFFH a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into WAIV (FM).

Thank you.
