Situation before

I just took a look at what you're up to with this article and I have to say I don't like it. There's too much formatting, way too many generalized links and some POV. Please stop, return it to it's former version and discuss the changes you want to make on the talk page. CovenantD 08:07, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ANSWER :
What do you mean in detail about POV ? All I am doing is filling the page according to the title : Same-sex marriage legislation in the United States by state. It was so far rather a timeline according to each state ... My point of view is neutral. I report what I find. And the links goes either to "pro-marriage" HRC and "against-marriage" Domawatch.org . I wouldn't have done it otherwise! The links are also made to allow checking and upodating if necessary. Mimich 09:56, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't checked every single state, but what I have seen can be generally applied to all of them.
What caught my eye on POV was this line:
  • ARIZONA CONSTITUTION :

Nothing. The ballot on a possible constitution ban failed narrowly. The only failure case in USA !

The bold formatting could also be contrued as POV, since it doesn't necessarily appear in the source documentation.
As for the linking, there is absolutely no reason to link each and every state to the DOMA Watch and HRC. A single link to each organization at the end of the article is sufficient and keeping with guidelines. Another example of overlinking is the link to Alabama Constitution. That article contains nothing relevant to SSM and that puts it out of context. There's also no need to link to both the entire state constitution and the specific section that pertains to this article. The code or statute links are also duplicated in the generalities links, which is all duplicated by including the full text. This supposed to be summaries. I hope that gives you enough to get started. See Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context, and especially the first couple of paragraphs, for more guidance. CovenantD 10:58, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The links to HRC and DOMAWATCH refers not to the general site homepage but to each state individual page! It takes much time to report all those legislation so I have put each state page on both sites so that anyone that comes may have an answer already by consulting them. Maybe I should withdraw them latter.
For Arizona : How about "Nothing. Through a ballot with a narrow result, the Arizonians didn't agree to ban same-sex marriages in their constitution. The only such case in USA so far !" ? It wasn't my intention to stress it as a failure. But it rather referred to the context. There is a general push to ban them from each state constitution. It was meant to say : "In each state this general move and attitude succeeded but not in Arizona."
This text is added after first comment without the adding.
The bold elements were to point major elements of the legislation. What are the key informations of it

First of all, don't start out by yelling at me as though I don't know what's going on. It's rude and won't earn you any friends.

What you've done with HRC and DOMA is excessive. Each organization has a main "legislation by state" page. Link to that at the bottom and it will only take a reader one extra click to get where they want without cluttering the page with 50 links with exactly the same text.

As for Arizona, that was an example of POV. You shouldn't be including the text of the statute or code or amendment in this article at all anyway. Bolding only indicates what YOU think are the key elements. That's the very definition of POV. Your task as an editor is to just report the facts and let the reader decide what is import to them. CovenantD 12:28, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is already the status page which gives a summary of the legal elements. So this page should be something else according to opinions the talk page of the legislation page : short timeline and clear legislation. I considered gathering here the full legislative texts in a glance, as it was named legislation and the other status.
There was no yelling intention, just stressing to be sure the links intention was clear as you said you hadn't considered the all page but only the first sections of the page, or so I understood ... Mimich 12:55, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done, I suppose ... another thing I am working on
User:Mimich/Sandbox 1 is a partial preparation for the Same-sex marriage status in the United States by state page (here above, status page), what do you think of it (except overlinking I'm already working on)?
My intention was, among other things, :

  • to correct and enhance clearer details of the status page.
  • to propose a fixed denomination for all possible pages (marriage - civil unions - domestic partnership) and through it, to show existing pages (=active links). maybe excessive but potentially useful

A lot has yet to be done but tell me Mimich 16:10, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 12:42, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mimich. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Aníbal Acevedo Vilá.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Mimich/Sandbox 5. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 03:49, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mimich. I have started a discussion about a new SSM map that has recently been replaced on many pages that reference same sex marriage laws in the US. I have also brought up some complaints about the feature creep of the US Map Same Sex Civil Unions and Domestic Partnerships and US Map Same Sex Marriage Laws maps on which you have made significant contributions. I would recommend that the new US SSM Laws image be deleted due to its major flaws and that the previous two images that it has been replacing be used instead, but in a simplified form. My reasons are given on the US SSM Laws talk page. Cheers.--Burzum 20:31, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your recent edits to Ages of consent in North America[edit]

Hi, the information you've added to the article is all very good, however it would be best if you would use prose instead of dot points and sentence fragments. Especially the line in Alaska "=> "16<->19", "17<=>20" & "both above 18" is all right." That means nothing to most people. Please try to reword your additions in line with the WP:MoS. Also have a quick look at the guide at the top of the talk page regarding this. We are trying to get all the "Ages of consent in..." articles to have a consistent style and presentation. --Monotonehell 14:37, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited List of state visits received by Queen Elizabeth II, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Shahanshah of Iran (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Not "Sir"[edit]

Your recent contributions seem to have a misconception of what an honorary UK knighthood means for a non-Commonwealth citizen - e.g. Chirac, Eisenhower. They are not called "Sir". See the note on the Bob Geldof page. - Ttwaring (talk) 18:46, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of IMSC Order of Merit[edit]

Hello, Mimich. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, IMSC Order of Merit, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Danielj2705 (talk) 12:36, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for adding several interesting knighthood order articles such as Order of the Belt of Hope and Order of Hubert. Many of these article include the text similar to "Ackermann mentions this knighthood order as a historical order of France."

Unfortunately, we don't know who Ackermann is. If that is the source, could you add a source citation? I think the articles that you are adding are valuable, but without sources they may be deleted.

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article John Shields (mayor) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

fails WP:POLITICIAN

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

A tag has been placed on Category:Order of Aviz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I see you have several notices for award categories and I wanted to thank you for grouping the award recipients together. Since the WP:OCAWARD editing guideline was tightened, I've been working to move this information into the article space.
