My shield request

Can you do the shield request on the requests page for NPS-615? You're pretty good at it and need a challenge. Also the request's been on there for a month.Mitch32contribs 02:36, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

If I can find a picture of it, I'll see if I could try it out. However, I don't know if the shield would fall under any sort of license other than PD; I'm only good with making the shields, not figuring out the other junk. In the meantime, if I do manage to make it, I'll put it up as a png, and keep an svg version for myself (or I could also send it to you) in case it is OK to be uploaded as that. Mr. Matté (talk) 02:44, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I sent a picture with the request. I'm not sure on PD but its from the National Park Service. Mitch32contribs 02:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I see the link is dead, so here is the new one.Mitch32contribs 02:58, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
OK, see if this is ok: [1] Mr. Matté (talk) 03:55, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Looks good. I'm not sure on the PD status.Mitch32contribs 13:48, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Middlesex shields

All 3 shields are on signs. I have a picture of 644 if you need more proof.Mitch32contribs 20:25, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I'll take your word for it then. :) I'll add them over on the page. Nevermind. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 20:30, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

US election maps

Just a note with regards to the colours, would it not be better to use colours that are used in the election boxes e.g. Template:American politics/party colours/Democratic Template:American politics/party colours/Republican --Barryob (Contribs) (Talk) 00:21, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

NV Shields

Thanks for fixing the my botched NV route shields. For some reason Inkscape is doing a font substitution on my system, and I can't figure out why. It says Roadgeek D, but saves the image with a different font. I've decided to stop doing shields until I can figure it out. Unfortunately that also means I have to mooch effort from others. =-) Davemeistermoab (talk) 00:51, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

What you should do right before you save it to upload to here, convert the text to path. To do that, select the text, then hit Ctrl+Shift+C . However, only do this once you are completely sure the text is correct; you can't edit it afterwards. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 00:55, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
You are right that I _should_ have noticed the wrong font when I converted paths and didn't. That was my bad. There's slightly more to it than that. I run Mac OS X, and I'm apparently not the only one with this problem (though others have gotten it working). From bugzilla there is a bug unique to the Mac OS X port of Inkscape where the root cause is not fully understood. One site has a script that has to be run as root which flushes the fonts cache and reloads fonts. This is solving the problem on most systems, but not mine =-) Another site has a theory that it has to do with the path or name of the font and states some people have gotten it working by moving or renaming the font. Me, I've given up =-) If you are aware of other workarounds posted on the internet, I'd love to hear about it. I'm willing to try again. Davemeistermoab (talk) 01:06, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

If you wouldn't mind here are the other shields I created that are fubar'ed. My apologies. I'd fix them myself if I could get past my font issues.

County by County map

In this map you created the remaining county in Wisconsin, Clark, needs to be blue for Obama. He got 2,613 votes to Clinton's 2,233 votes in Clark; Source. Thanks. HoosierStateTalk 20:54, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that notice. :) —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 21:14, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

All of Hawaii should also be blue for Obama per CNN's map. Sure wish I knew how to use SVG maps so I wouldn't have to keep bugging you to change the map. Thanks HoosierStateTalk 00:53, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

I'll do that change, when I do the other counties for Ohio, Texas, RI, and Vermont sometime soon. Thanks for telling me, though! —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 01:02, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

All shields?

Are all shields going to svg? - Denimadept (talk) 23:45, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes; at least that's what I'm trying to do. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 23:47, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
That strikes me as a Good Thing. Thank you. - Denimadept (talk) 01:34, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks very much for creating the CT route shields and replacing them in the articles. --Polaron | Talk 03:53, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

PARd participants list

As discussed at WT:USRD, the participants list at WP:USRD is being split by state. Since your name has multiple states next to it, "PA" has been removed from your name the large USRD-wide table, and your name has been added to the PA-specific table. This is part of the lengthy process. If this is in error, please let me know immediately. Regards, Rschen7754 (T C) 05:30, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

USRD participants list

As discussed at WT:USRD, the participants list at WP:USRD is being split by state. Due to any of the following factors- your extended participation in WT:USRD discussions, your IRC participation, or your extended participation in Shields or Maps, I have guessed that you are a nationwide editor and have designated you as such in the USRD partiicpants table. This is part of the lengthy process. If this is in error, please let me know immediately. This is especially likely with this group as I have to guess whether you are a national or a state editor. Reply to North Dakota County Routes

I checked the photos. Most of them use the standard pentagon county shields (example: [2]). However, I did see some county routes signed with county shields used in Minnesota and I really don't know why (example: [3]). But I would recommend just creating and exporting all the standard pentagon county shields, as that is the most common county shield used in North Dakota. Thanks for volunteering to upload the shields! Dabby (talk) 04:29, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Can you create and upload a county shield for CR 6 (Image:Cass County Route 6 ND.svg)? It's on exit 60 on I-29 in ND; I forgot about this interchange. Dabby (talk) 02:48, 23 June 2008 (UTC) Sorry, my mistake; CR 6 wasn't signed on the guide signs.

However, User:NE2 cleaned up the exit list and left some broken links to the county shileds. can you upload the following county shields? Image:Grand Forks County Route 81 ND.svg and Image:Walsh County Route 9 ND.svg. Thanks! I think that will be all for now. Dabby (talk) 19:11, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

No problem! Just to let know, if you want to request shields, type in a ":" before you put "Image:..." so the image doesn't show up as a giant picture when it's created. (ex: [[:Image:Walsh County Route 9 ND.svg]])
But one thing completely different from this: I noticed you created User talk:Mr. Matte. I did this early on, but the page was deleted (I forgot the reason). Just letting you know that you shouldn't completely rely on that to get here all the time in the future. If you want to get here directly, to get the "é":
  • Turn the "num lock" on,
  • Hold the "alt" button,
  • On the numeric keypad (the one on the right), type "0233" and release alt to get "é."
Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 22:10, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to access your talk page without having to find the é all the time. (Sorry about that.) The thing is, I'm using a laptop, which does not contain the numeric keypad. Unless you have a method that can get you an "é" on the laptop, I'll just do the standard copy and paste. Anyways, thanks for trying to help. :) Dabby (talk) 23:42, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
