Thanks for edits

My sincere appreciation for all of your edits to articles for New Jersey politicians such as this edit, particularly where you've added meaningful content and references to super-stub articles that had been created without useful material and sources added. Nathan Cook

Okay, but I'm removing him anyway as there are no references for either date of death. Deb (talk) 12:04, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

NJ senate

The district map you have for the New Jersey state Senate needs to be updated, the Democrats lost district one In the 2019 elections and the map still has a colored blue. I did not get a chance to check the assembly map but it also should have District one colored red as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adg12345 (talkcontribs) 02:46, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

East Tennessee Crossing Byway

Hello,

I am in the works of creating an article regarding one of the newest National Scenic Byways in the NBS system, the East Tennessee Crossing Byway. The byway is on an unsigned concurrency along US-25E/TN-32 and on US-25 from Newport to the North Carolina state line. I have started a draft of the article on my sandbox, and I was curious if you could assist me in the Major Intersections section and possibly create a map of the byway in order to make the article look more professional and appealing, based on your contribution to U.S. Route 11W. I also have added a file of the shield/logo of the byway on Commons, and I'm unsure by how to add it to the article.

Thanks in advance, --AppalachianCentrist (talk) 01:36, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

updating US roads graphs

I was looking to see if it were possible to to have graphs for the Virus WikiProject like what is done for US Roads[1] but I noticed that the bar graphs are updated manually (including by you).[2] Do you record these numbers monthly and then update the graphs e.g. once or twice a year or do you retrieve them from somewhere? Velayinosu (talk) 00:54, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

For USRD, I look at User:WP_1.0_bot/Tables/Custom/Roads-1 every once in a while to get the end-of-month points for each of the categories (FA, A, GA,...) and use the page history to get other end-of-month point values. It appears that your project has a similar table at User:WP 1.0 bot/Tables/Project/Virus where you can read off the "total" column and get the number of FAs, As, GAs, etc. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 11:15, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Request cleanup for a KML file.

Hi there! I was curious if you would be willing to help me with a KML file for an article I'm doing. I have merged several KML files together using an online tool but parts need to be removed to follow the route. Here is the text of the KML file. I apologize for the mess, I have no experience with the template or KML files in general.

Thanks, Paul Webb (PaulWebbtheTechExpert) (talk) 15:06, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

As I was made aware in Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Maps task force/Requests, the KML file I merged was not helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PaulWebbtheTechExpert (talkcontribs) 16:57, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

NC 67 Map

Please remove & update the map as it shows the Business 40 shield when Business 40 is now US 421. You also need to add a map for this page under this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silas_Creek_Parkway_(Winston-Salem) Beejayhelper (talk) 15:22, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

KML protip

I don't know if you keep KML files in your watchlist (I don't), but you may have seen this edit and wondered how I did it. To reduce the file size I'm opening the KML in QGIS (I'm using 3.10.2), and going to Vector→Geometry Tools→Simplify. Then I change the tolerance to 0.00001 or 0.0001 and it spits out a simplified file. The ten-thousandths tolerance produces smaller file sizes than hundred-thousandths, but the trade-off is that the corners are a little chunky. It's only really noticeable when you view the maps at the 300m level and below. I'm working at getting all of the main U.S. Highway articles an interactive map and this has come in handy. Interstate Highways are 99% done; the only articles that don't have a mapframe map didn't have a KML and I didn't feel like making it at the time. –Fredddie 06:27, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

The QGIS simplify command is in my box of tricks for my KML file creation, unless completely manually drawn. The US 5 file linked was before I started doing that, but after apparently I started running the coordinates list through my Excel file to round the coordinates down. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 13:14, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
I use regex for that. Search for "(\d\.\d{5})\d+" and replace it with "$1" but make sure the regex button is checked. –Fredddie 17:20, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

117th Congress Map

Do you, by any chance, have the boundaries used in this map available in a shapefile that you would be willing to share? I was working on a project mapping the results of elections using historical congressional district borders and the most recent borders available from the Census Bureau. I wanted to update it for 2020 once all election results were finalized, and I've become aware that the Census Bureau will not be releasing new Congressional boundaries for the 117th Congress, which puts me in a bit of a pickle since the North Carolina boundaries have changed.Zhinz (talk) 07:32, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Assuming you're referring to File:117th U.S. Congress House districts blank.svg, most of the districts (all but NC) came from the 116th Congress shapefile on the Census TIGER page https://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/geo/shapefiles/index.php, NC's shapefile can be found at https://www.ncleg.gov/Redistricting (look under "Enacted 2019"). —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 13:47, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

List of Municipalities in New Jersey

Thanks for your update of the population totals for NJ's municipalities. However, you listed the total area instead of the land area for the municipalities. Similarly, the population densities you calculated are based on total area, instead of land area, which is the Census Bureau's standard way of calculating population densities.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Edg2103 (talkcontribs) 22:05, August 28, 2021 (UTC)

Acknowledged, will recheck to see if the land area is included in the raw data. Please remember to add all new sections at the bottom of talk pages and to sign your comments (~~~~). —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 12:20, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

What happened to all the NJ interactive road maps?

All of the maps either show up as a map of the world or a map of the area where the road is but nothing is highlighted. Needforspeed888 (talk) 12:42, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

See: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. Roads#Broken maps, Module talk:Mapframe#So many bugs?; the original files were RFD'd by User:BMACS1002 (to whom you mentioned other broken maps) since I guess the intent was to utilize OSM data but that never worked completely right. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 13:11, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
Oh no, it worked amazingly!... for about a year, then apparently Wikimedia migrated some things over to a new system, but something broke in the interim and now it's broke. See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T288400 for what we know so far. I'm hopeful that this can get resolved so we don't have to migrate back to pulling data from Commons, since I quite like the abstraction the current implementation uses, but that's a story for another time... Garden State Parkway interactive map

It seems that interactive maps using commons data have been re-inserted back into many of the NJ road articles while OSM is in maintenance. Do you think you can do this for the Garden State Parkway? Needforspeed888 (talk) 03:22, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
