Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Myprofiles, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Williamhare books, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

The article Williamhare books has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 11:50, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome (from an actual human)

[edit]

Hi. It can be tough to find your way around Wikipedia. One good method is to start by reading and attempt to improve some articles on topics that you are familiar with. It is especially difficult to start on Wikipedia by creating an article. One option here is that you can ask to have the William Hare article moved to user space, to give yourself time to learn the ropes and improve the article before taking it live. If you keep the article as is, it may well be deleted. It is considerably harder to re-start an article that has already been deleted once. To make this article into a keeper, you or someone will have to do 2 things. 1.) provide a reliable, secondary source for all information in the article. 2.) revise it to conform to Wikipedia style. Sources that discuss Hare's life and his work are essential. Cheers.E.M.Gregory (talk) 12:13, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removing AfD template

[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with William Hare (author). Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. This is an automated message from a bot about this edit, where you removed the deletion template from an article before the deletion discussion was complete. If this message is in error, please report it.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 10:19, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Likely COI and WP:PEACOCK

[edit]

Hi, I'd strongly suggest reading our guidelines at WP:COI. Resume-like and promotional content, inadequately sourced, will not be kept in an encyclopedia article. This isn't the place to post an autobiography. Thanks, 2601:188:0:ABE6:AC2E:9C35:B399:A9E0 (talk) 13:45, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestion. Could you please correct me where I am wrong? Just specify on lines or places where I did something wrong in writing

The next time you re-add unsourced or promotional content, I will ask that your account be blocked. Thank you. 2601:188:0:ABE6:1426:57EB:B017:9787 (talk) 01:56, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Help me for managing my first article about author

[edit]

Dear Wikipedian,

Thanks for your comments. I think I am stuck now as my content is being deleted every time whenever I write it. I am writing about an renowned author who I know very well but it is being deleted by saying that it is a promotional content. Please anybody help me out that what do I write about an Author who is living now? I tried to write many times.

  • Hi, the problem with your contributions is that they're almost entirely unsourced and are promotional in tone--I think this has been explained before. Additionally, there's no need to list books written by the author, unless their notability has been established. I'm adding a welcome section below, which links to Wikipedia's guidelines. I'd encourage reading WP:BLP, WP:NPOV, WP:RELIABLESOURCES and WP:COI--if you have a connection with the subject, that must be divulged. Thanks, 2601:188:0:ABE6:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 13:54, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
