Why did you remove my comments on Talk:Apolo Ohno? I would like to know your reasoning. oncamera(t) 04:46, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

iPod Touch image
Hi. I know that the two iPod Touch models are different, but for the tiny thumbnail there's no appreciable difference (granted, using one image suggests there are differences that can't be seen). We are in the process of acquiring such an image. I also don't think the ugly blacked out image does us much good. Furthermore, considering your comment on the iPhone talk page (you should read the rest of that conversation), I'm confused as to why a tiny thumbnail is an acceptable application of a fair use image but an infobox is not. I've got a lot of copyright fanatics who would love to unilaterally delete all of these images, when I (subjectively) think that without the software, it would be utterly pointless. No hard feelings, I just wanted to tell you what's motivating me and I hope you consider these things in your editing. HereToHelp (talk to me) 02:25, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- I thought that using Pardthemonster's image would be alright because it's freely-licensed, it's high-res, and we wouldn't run into copyright issues using it. And yes, I warned Terrillja to stop tagging minor copyright violations as blatant ones for CSD. He later replied, claiming my efforts to reduce copyright violation "BS." The image (and the one that was added to List of iPhone OS devices from my undo) ended up being deleted after Terrillja tagged them. The end result was to restore the images, but with the screen blanked out. Copyright can get annoying sometimes. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talk • my edits • sign) 03:14, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- One of the ideas I had was some sort of template interested parties could sign, summarizing past discussion about the image, and asking others to please alert them prior to messing with it. HereToHelp (talk to me) 19:30, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Your reports to WP:UAA
Username policy is a many faceted thing, and somewhat open to interpretation, but I think you should maybe slow down with some of your reports, specifically the "offensive" names. Of course what is and is not offensive is highly subjective, but try to keep in mind that blocking users based solely on their username isn't actually something we want to be doing if it can be avoided. A username containing out-and-out obscenity or racial slurs of course needs to be blocked on sight, but a name like "ExplodingFaces" does not. Frankly I don't even see a problem with it at all. Same with "Mattycrackboy." Yes, it might be a reference to Crack cocaine, but how are we to know? Crack has numerous meanings as you can see if you click the link. And even if it were referring to drugs, that is not a violation of the username policy. Names need to be more generally offensive in order to merit blocking. Why, some scientist might be offended by your name! Should we block you on the off-chance that one person might find it offensive? Of course not. Generally, if a username contains words you wouldn't say in front of somebody's grandmother, it's a violation. If it only implies something without spelling it out, it's best to let it go. For marginal cases that are sort of offensive but not serious enough to warrant a block, it's usually best to discuss the matter with the user or leave Template:uw-username on their talk page. On the other hand, I see you have reported numerous spammer names. I personally find them much more of a problem than offensive names and I encourage you to keep finding spammers and bringing them to administrator's attention. They are a serious problem and the more of us are on the lookout for them the better. Beeblebrox (talk) 07:43, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry if I was being too aggressive at the UAA. I reported ExplodingFaces because I thought the idea of an exploding face sounded disruptive. I reported Mattycrackboy because his name had something illegal in it. I don't see anything wrong with my name. Of course, I think I'm nerdy myself! But yes, I did report usernames that contained obscenities such as sexual body parts and swear words. And I think it's nice to know I am doing something right with the spam usernames. Also keep in mind that I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, but I'm learning quickly. Of course, my future goal is to become an administrator. Thank you for telling me I'm doing something wrong. - One note to this... NSD, while it is obviously an honest mistake, in future it would be best to quickly check the user's contribution history before applying a generic template. That would help to avoid accidentally tagging a guy who plays a key role in writing and maintaining planetary articles as a "vandal". (Again, I realize this was unintentional.) Wikipedia policy prevents minors from releasing certain personal information for both their safety and the safety of the project. Therefore, I have removed your age from your user page. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 15:39, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

You may contact WP:ArbCom, if you wish, but standing wikipedia policy is not to allow someone who is a minor in either their respective jurisdiction or the United States (and in your case this is identical) to post certain identifying pieces of information, of which age is one. Please have your parents or an older sibling explain the dangers of posting information on the internet to you, and please contact ArbCom for more clarification. I apologize if you find this annoying, but editing privileges on the wikipedia project require that editors abide by wikipedia policies. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 15:56, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of non-existent user pages
Hi, NerdyScienceDude. I noticed that you created some non-existent user pages User:NSD and User Talk:NSD and redirected them to your own. The creation of non-existent user pages are not permitted (except in some temporary circumstances) and are speedy deleted per our WP:U2 criteria. Am I missing something here? Otherwise, I wanted to give you fair warning so that you can make any adjustment to your current signature markup before I delete them. Cheers. — CactusWriter | needles 02:03, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

- User:The Thing That Should Not Be registered an alternative name per request. They did not create a nonexistent user page. — CactusWriter | needles 02:18, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

- That's unfortunate. However, the "User:" designation should only be used for registered accounts. Hi there. I fixed your close of this RFA and did the accompanying tasks needed. If you consider doing such closes again in the future, you might want to follow this guide. Please do not use edit summaries like "unsuccessful" though, they sound as if you made a decision. Edit summaries for such circumstances should reflect the reason for the close, e.g. "withdrawn by candidate" or "closing per WP:NOTNOW". Regards SoWhy 23:14, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
- I have read the guide and I now understand that it takes more to close an RfA than to add the boilerplates and untransclude. That was my first RfA closure, and I am still learning my way around Wikipedia. Regards, NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talk • my edits • sign) 23:36, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Deletion
Does it constitute vandalism? you guys delete pages with more relevant information. I have watched over the years and see, participated and raged over many unnecessary deletions. Yet users are allowed to have a page rattling on about stuff that does not really belong in a wikipedia. I am raising issue with wikipedia's deletion policy. As there is no proper form for me to raise issue with policy I am now going to proceed to bug each of you until you start looking in the mirror. Don't bother reporting me for anything, I will just proxy. I sincerely want you to start looking at your policy of deletion here at wikipedia. If you guys actually want to have a real dialogue and not sock puppet or gang up on me, I welcome it in my discussion page. However, I think all of you lack the humility to actually consider that maybe you are wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.186.178.171 (talk) 00:05, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- Have you read WP:USERPAGE? The Thing That Should Not Be can certainly have his own page as long as he isn't using it like MySpace. So yes, putting TTTSNB's userpage up for MfD certainly could constitute vandalism. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 00:10, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- so how is the deletion of culturally relevant pages acceptable. Again, like I said, I think that:
A: the accusation of sock puppetry is entirely asinine. Rather than address the fact that I am trying to raise issue and start a dialogue you lot merely demonize me. B: Again, you don't want to discuss you merely want to shove me off into a lot assume I am a troll or something. The discussion of policy and sharing of information should be encouraged here. - The edit I reverted that wasn't constructive was the removal of a reliable citation. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 16:37, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- You actually reverted two consecutive edits (using rollback, I think, which automatically reverts back to the last edit by a different user). One added the co-founder's name and one removed a reference. I expect reverting the addition of the co-founder's name as well was simply a mistake. --Tango (talk) 16:55, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- I was using my watchlist and showed an edit that removed a citation, using WP:POPUPS. I clicked on the [rollback] button on my watchlist to remove it. Anyway, the constructive edit was added back. No harm done. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 17:00, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

- I have no idea either as to why it wasn't on Wikipedia before I wrote it in December. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 16:56, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Ok thanks, I haven't edited before so my mistake. I tried again to add the company co-founder's name, but for some reason it's not showing up. Any hints on how to make that happen? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phaedrahise (talk • contribs) 14:56, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing this for me. I didn't see that the changed the criteria until just now. The Thing // Talk Happy St. Patrick's Day 11:59, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- No problem, The Thing. It didn't look right when it said you would be the second highest rank in eight years. BTW, I guess "penis" isn't an unnecessary obscenity in your vandalbox, because in this edit, you added a whole bunch of penis to it. I find it interesting that someone nominated my vandalism space for MfD. It was kept because it is a common thing in user spaces. I'm glad you appreciated my bold edit. Spam
Sorry but I spent 10 mins on your page looking for a link to post a msg to but found nothing but this invitation to "vandalize" your page, which is clearly not what I'm here for. I came here to send you a msg = RE Vickie Milazzo and Legal Nurse Consultant articles. Here's my msg...to you and your partners in crime.
The accusations above are entirely untrue, inaccurate and boarder libel. The edits made were clearly constructive credits. Only someone with motive to spam this section would suggest the edits were not constructive as it would be ONLY that person who must revert the article back to the spam. The edits made: 1) REMOVED SPAM AS SPAM IS CLEARLY AGAINST WIKI POLICY; 2) REMOVED FALSE CLAIMS AS THIS VIOLATES WIKI POLICY; 3) REMOVED REFERENCES TO VICKIE MILAZZO'S BLATANT UNTRUTHS (AND/OR MISLEADING CLAIMS) THAT SHE "CREATED" THE "PROFESSION" - she is merely citing an article she wrote for her own advertising - i.e., SPAM. Wiki has never allowed someone to post content to the internet and then come to Wiki and make reference to their own article as a source. It is unreliable and has ALWAYS been considered spam.
As for your threats to ban the person who made these edits, you'll be a very busy editor because there's over 100 computers here to choose from (each with their own IP address) and over a million proxy servers to select should you be so inclined to block each of the 100 or more IPs at this facility. Only someone with an interest in the Vickie Milazzo SPAM would defend the spam being posted in this article. If you research back into the archives (which none of you have apparently done before jumping to your erroneous conclusions about these edits) you would find that the same SPAMMER (Vickie Milazzo & associates) were spamming this article in the past and were warned to discontinue doing so or the entire article would be removed. NONE of you have considered what's happened here in the past. Instead, you defend a spammer! If you want a constructive article, remove the spam, ban the spammer if she continues spamming (as your former editors threatened to do in the past), and stop accusing me of destroying reliable content. The content removed was LIES, misleading claims, references to articles the spammer paid to have written about herself, spam, clearly irrelevant material and notations to clarify that this is NOT a profession, it is no different than paralegals (and neither are governed by state or federal laws/regulations). Do the world a favor and do some comprehensive research before bloating off the way you have done above, accusing someone of being destructive without knowing anything about this field!
- I had nothing to do with that page. I think you might have the wrong person. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 13:29, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Some fixes on Literary Reflections
I addressed your concerns on my article on James Michener's Literary Reflections. Let me know if it still needs work. Bruce Cunningham (talk) 18:23, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, it has no citations and it should be written in prose. More wikification may also be necessary. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talk • my edits • sign) 06:05, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
The book in question is the reference. All information comes from it.
Short sentences are still prose, there is no rhyming sequence that I can detect, although if you can find one please inform me, I'd love to see it.
As for wikification - I have no idea what you are talking about. maybe if you expanded on your criticism instead of using cryptic inspeak I might be able to do something about it.Bruce Cunningham (talk) 03:12, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- Although the book may be the reference, you still have to cite sources with citations. {{cite book}} can be used to easily cite a book. What I mean by wikification is the addition of useful [[internal links]]. I will do some work on the article. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 03:26, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
You apparently mistakenly listed Literary Reflections as a novel on the James Michener Template. It was already properly listed under non fiction. It's not a novel, it's a collection of mostly previously published essays with some comments and updates.Bruce Cunningham (talk) 16:26, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. I'm actually surprised I'm being asked about this article since I only came across it while new-page patrolling. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 17:10, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Something for you to do.
Ever thought aobut trying to get New Mexico to a GA? That's something that you can do considering you live there. It's already at a B-class so You can probably get it done if you try hard enough. (And if your looking for an RFA, getting a major article like that would really help out. Think of it as your version of my attempt to get WWII to a GA)--White Shadows you're breaking up 00:01, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'll take a look at it. I got Mac OS X to GA class. I did some copyedits, added additional citations, nominated it, tweaked it, and it passed. Maybe I should put that on my userpage... NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 00:25, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

And perhaps if you are still around next year, you can enter the wikicup. once again, sorry about the misunderstanding.--White Shadows you're breaking up 02:50, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Please don't move or rename article pages outside of WP policies
Hi'ya: You apparently moved 2010 Haiti earthquake, as shown on this diff, to a new article webpage named 'February 2010 Haiti earthquake'. Disregarding the fact that the earthquake actually occurred in January, not February, your actions disregarded several points concerning Wikipedia's article naming rules, and was quickly reverted back to its original title, with protection applied to it. As one editor noted: "Changed protection level of 2010 Haiti earthquake: No reason for this to be moved without discussion on the talk page first".
Your pagemove likely negatively impacted a number of people before it was reverted. Please be considerate of others prior to making any major changes such as this one in the future -if you're not sure of something, its usually a good idea to raise it in discussion on the article's talk page first in order to save a lot of hackles, such as this one. - The above message was left here by a troll, who tried to impersonate another editor. Fortunately, our trusty SineBot rather sabotaged that plan. I have left a note on the editor's talk page explaining exactly what I think of such actions. Favonian (talk) 16:46, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, it's the user who performed that move. It also looks like he moved that article again. I'm surprised he isn't already blocked. Luckily, SineBot always tells the truth. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 21:53, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

No offense, but I'm very familiar with the PJ series, as is User:Airplaneman, and we both think that a portal really is not necessary. I originally tagged for mfd and I will renew that if you think it is necessary. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:08, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Yeah, I declined the speedy. I didn't think it qualified a speedy. MfD may be more appropriate for this portal. I have also told Mono that I have offered to help expand it if at all necessary, but it certainly didn't qualify a CSD IMHO. NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ msg • changes) 03:27, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Dear NSD, the recent edit you made (removing state wikiproject) should be added back. The race helps the economy and brings tourists to the state of Tennessee. The wikiproject I think should be added back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nascar1996 (talk • contribs)
- I did not remove the wikiproject. I was just lowering the importance.
