Control copyright icon Hello Niccolò Caranti (OBC), and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Femicide have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 17:43, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Niccolò Caranti (OBC). Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest compliance

[edit]

Hi Niccolò Caranti (OBC): As per our previous discussion at COIN, it seems that you are familiar with WP:COI policy. So I'll go straight to the relevant points here and in other pages:

Thank you. Best, --MarioGom (talk) 15:32, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The user page for this account satisfies the first bullet point. The second is not required (unless someone has recently rewritten policy, as some are wont to do). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:29, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Pigsonthewing: Per Terms of Use disclosure is sufficient on any of user talk page, article talk page or edit summary. When you say the user page satisfies the first point, is it to be assumed that it is paid editing and the payer is OBC? Best, --MarioGom (talk) 21:24, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @MarioGom and Pigsonthewing: Having a unified user page on Meta makes it simpler for me to update information when necessary, but prevent me to use specific enwiki templates. Since they are not compulsory I would continue like that (unless the policies are changed, obviously). When I first created this user page I wrote that I was working with OBC, which imho makes it clear enough that (1) I am paid (2) by OBC. I also used the meta template user info with OBC in the organization field, and I did put "(OBC)" in my user name. I have since updated my user page a few times (the last time just know) and I tried to make it clearer. I can try to make it even more clearer if necessary.
  • Even if the declaration in the talk page is not requested, since it already present in the user page (and in the history, because of the username), I have added {{Connected contributor (paid)}} in Talk:Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa.
  • I have never edited the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom. Davide Denti (OBC) (Dans) did: he wrote in his user page that he was working on this project so he was compliant with the policies. I obviously have nothing against the template being added in that talk page too, but I am a bit unsure about how it should be compiled in that case, so I won't add it, at least for now.
  • I'll try to find some external sources to improve the OBCT article: I will follow up in the talk page. --Niccolò "Jaqen" Caranti (OBC) (talk) 15:47, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Niccolò Caranti (OBC): Indeed, only one of the disclosures is required (user page, article talk page or edit summary). Thank you for the update. Best, --MarioGom (talk) 10:48, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. Let me know if you need help, Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:16, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:16, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
